SHOW INFORMATION The Annual Spring Garden Show is set for April 11 (9am to 5pm) & April 12, 2015 (10am 4pm), at the New Orleans Botanical Garden on Victory Avenue in City Park, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. The Show is sponsored by the 's Cooperative Extension Service, The Metro Area Horticulture Foundation and The New Orleans Botanical Garden. PURPOSE OF THE SHOW The purpose of the Show is to educate the public on: 1. where to obtain gardening products and services; 2. garden clubs and plant societies located in the New Orleans Metropolitan area; 3. plants appropriate for our area and improved varieties that will be sold at garden centers; Through this education, the Show aims to: 4. encourage gardening and stimulate the Greater New Orleans area horticulture industry; 5. provide quality plants and garden products available for purchase by the general public; 6. unify people with professional and non-commercial interests in horticulture. SALES BOOTH INSTRUCTIONS We encourage participants to provide educational materials and demonstrations at their booth. This will enrich the quality of the show. Vendors must provide receipts for all merchandise. For your protection, proof of purchase will be required of each individual upon exiting the Garden Show. If plants or merchandise are given away (raffled etc.), a courtesy receipt must be provided to the recipient. The City of New Orleans requires an Occasional Occupational license (presently $50 per license) for each participant who intends to sell. Any society with non-profit 501(c)(3) status with the IRS is exempt from the fee, but is still required to pay the necessary sales tax for sales. A city revenue employee will be at the show Saturday or Sunday to provide the licenses to those who need them. All vendors selling living plants must have either a Nursery Certificate Permit (Growers Permit) or a Nursery Stock Dealer Permit issued by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry to legally sell nursery stock in Louisiana. Out of State vendors are required to have a Nursery Stock Dealer Permit. A Louisiana Sales Tax ID number is required to obtain a Nursery Stock Dealer Permit. In State vendors: Nurseries that have a Nursery Certificate Permit can bring the permit with them to the Spring Garden Show. This permit allows the grower to sell from only one location; therefore any other location must be closed for business while the grower is selling at the Spring Garden Show. Nurseries that have a Nursery Certificate Permit that do not wish to close other sales locations while selling at the Spring Garden Show must obtain a Nursery Stock Dealer Permit and have it in their possession at the Spring Garden Show. For more information about permits or licensing, please contact the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry at 225/952-8100. EDUCATIONAL EXHIBIT INSTRUCTIONS There is no charge for university or government agencies to exhibit. The Pavilion will not be available for exhibits. If sales of ANY KIND are conducted from your booth, including fundraising or solicitations for future product sales or services you must register as SALES. Please refer to the section above on Permits and Licensing, regarding additional guidelines that may be applicable.
