PLACEMAKING AND CREATIVE PLACEMAKING In creative placemaking, partners from public, private, nonprofit, and community sectors strategically shape the physical and social character of a neighborhood, town, tribe, city, or region around arts and cultural activities. Creative placemaking animates public and private spaces, rejuvenates structures and streetscapes, improves local business viability and public safety, and brings diverse people together to celebrate, inspire, and be inspired Anne Markusen and Ann Gadwa, Creative Placemaking, white paper commissioned by the National Endowment of the Arts, 2010 ULI Placemaking (since1930s) is about designing places that attract & unite people and foster a sense of community pride Creative Placemaking brings art and culture in tandem with good design to the start of a real estate development initiative
