User manual This User manual includes instructions for assembly, installation, commissioning, use, operation, setting, maintenance and servicing, disassembly and disposal, and technical specifications. All workers installing, putting into operation, operating, maintaining and servicing the unit must be demonstrably familiarized with these operating instructions. Keep this manual for future use. Use The float level gauge is intended for switching on/off control and signalling circuits depending on liquid level. Thanks to its construction, it can be used in heavy duty industrial conditions in environments with high relative humidity; it can be immersed also in mechanically polluted liquids with the specific density up to 1.4 g/cm 3 in the temperature range from +1 to 80 o. It can be used for all inflammable liquids. It is made with IP68 protection and is also designed for potentially explosive atmospheres with occurrence of methane in IM2 Ex ia Mb design according to ČSN EN 60079-1, 60079-11 for underground mines. The device can be used in the gas and monitoring system for level monitoring. Description and function The float level gauge (Fig. 2) is made as a waterproof case hanging on a wire. There is a switching mechanism inside the case. For level gauging application in potentially explosive atmospheres with occurrence of methane, the float level gauge is housed in a special enclosure. After it is immersed in a liquid, the float level gauge turns over due to the upward hydrostatic pressure and weights, and the microswitch connects or disconnects contacts. The required difference for overturning the float is from 160 to 180 mm. On Level difference Off Fig. 1. Float level gauge principle 25.5.2017 User manual 3/9
aution! 1. The device must not be used where there is a risk of mechanical damage or risk of chemical damage of the supply cable or case of the level gauge! 2. In case of mine applications, the level gauge is allowed to be connected only to intrinsically safe circuits! 3. The maximum length of the supply cable must be selected so that the values of o L o specified in the certificate of the used follow-up unit are not exceeded. Installation and assembly 1. At surface applications, protection against electric shock for the device is ensured by supplying from a safety transformer and by IP68 protection. The level gauge wire is fixed to the tank above its maximum level. In special cases when the difference of levels comes up to 5 m, it is recommended to place the level gauge behind a partition, which calms the flow of liquid, or to fix it to the tank wall. 2. For level gauging application in potentially explosive atmospheres with occurrence of methane, the float level gauge is placed in a special enclosure (see Fig.), which is to be fixed to the timbering of mine roads where we want to gauge flooding of mine roads. Operating instructions After installed, the device operates unattended. Maintenance The device is maintenance-free. However, it is necessary to check the surface of the gauge and if supply wire for integrity. It is recommended to have the unit checked by personnel from the manufacturer or a relevant authorised representative once a year. Repairs and spare parts All repairs and spare parts are provided by the manufacturer. Delivery, transport and storage Order code: for mine Float level gauge including special structure The delivery includes: This User manual A copy of the Declaration of onformity The product itself All components must be transported with attention to reduce potential shocks and vibrations.
