HRS Hand Rail System 1
Safety in tunnels Hand rail system for rail tunnels In accordance with the requirements of the TSI (technical specification for interoperability), all tunnels in the trans-european high-speed rail system with a length exceeding 500 m must be equipped with a hand rail for self-rescue. Installed within easy reach, it helps lead the passengers safely to the emergency exits in the event that an evacuation is necessary. Offering a firm hold and guidance, it is required as a self-rescue aid. For the first time, the Hand Rail System offers operators and planners the use of a product tested as a complete system to fulfil all technical requirements of the TSI. Since all system components are optimised for mutual compatibility, material and installation costs are minimised and trouble-free routine operation is ensured. Hand rail with tube luminaire 2
The first hand rail system tested as a system Hand rail systems consist of various components such as the power supply, lighting and alarm unit. These components must be tested as a system to ensure that they function reliably and safely in the event of a fire. The Hand Rail System is the first hand rail solution in which the modular components were successfully tested together in fire tests according to DIN 4102 Part 12. The fire tests were performed according to the so-called standard fire curve, which is based on real-life temperature profiles from fires. The numerous complex tests that satisfy the high demands of DIN 4102 Part 12 are verified by test certificates from the materials testing institute MPA in Dresden. System components Power supply Safety begins here. The system can only function if the power supply continues to reach critical equipment during an emergency. The HRS power cable NHXH FE180/E30-E90 with 0.6/1 kv is halogen- and silicone-free and also conforms with the RoHS directive. It also fulfils requirements for protection against rodents. In contrast to conventional chemically cross-linked safety cables, the NHXH FE180/E30-E90 is electron-beam cross-linked, resulting in the following benefits: Higher resistance to heat and pressure, increased tensile strength Safety in the event of short-circuit due to higher thermal and dimensional stability Increased chemical resistance Resistant against soldering irons High impact and crack resistance, especially at low temperatures Good abrasion and weathering resistance Key technical data: Rated voltage U0/U 0,6 / 1 kv Test voltage 3.5 kv at 50 Hz Permissible temperatures Operating temp. from -25 C to +90 C Installation temp. from -5 C to +70 C Short-circuit temperature +250 C Lighting Various lighting options complete the HRS system. The modular system makes it easy to prepare an appropriate lighting design. HRS LaneLED light strip for the HRS MC 30 hand rail: Made of pressed aluminium profile approx. 30 x 25 x 2,900 mm The 3 m segments are equipped with strain relief and protection against false wiring HRS Travalux S tube luminaire for installation below the hand rail: Tube luminaire for tunnel illumination, withstands the demanding conditions in such structures HRS LP42 individual luminaires for installation below the hand rail: Economical single-light solution that also satisfies the requirements for use in tunnels Hand rail HRS hand rail for support and guidance of people in tunnels, also serves as a cable duct Maximum separation of attachment points 1.7 m High thermal stability (-80 C to +130 C) High mechanical strength and chemical resistance High impact and corrosion resistance Non-conducting Halogen-free Low weight and thermal conductivity Easy to work, burr-free Exceptionally long service life Flame-retardant and self-extinguishing No electrolytic corrosion No earthing required Equipment Branch with maintained electrical function, HRS WKE 54. Cable junction box with IP66/67, certified according to EN 60670, with maintained electrical function E30 - E90 according to DIN 4102 Part 12. Halogen-free housing made from special duroplastic Double terminals made from high-temperature-resistant special ceramic Fittings depending on electrical requirements Double terminals 6² to 16² Thermal fuse for the branch D0 fuse for the branch IP66/67 cable gland up to M40 with strain relief HRS alarm unit to support the self-rescue system. In an emergency, the safety lighting can be switched on via the alarm unit. Pressure-resistant button (>9000 N/m2), backlit, avoids activation due to air blast LED ALARM ACTIVATED indicator lamp to confirm alarm activation in an emergency LED orientation lamp, constantly illuminated Power supply for tunnel illumination in emergencies 5
Hand rail in GFK with spotlight The spotlight mounted beneath the hand rail ensures a specified light intensity in lux. In addition, it provides sufficient illumination for maintenance work in its section. The hand railing also provides enough space for the installation of electrical cables and can be retrofitted later. Hand rail with tube luminaire Example systems The tube luminaire can be delivered in different lengths appropriate to the given lighting requirements, which can have a positive influence on installation and maintenance costs. With its integrated reflector, the luminaire can be adjusted as needed. Hand rail with LED light strip This system uses the latest in LED lighting technology in its LED strip configuration. The arrangement of the LEDs ensures uniform illumination of the path. The lamps are protected from external influences by a high-quality cast resin filling. The LaneLED is clicked into place in the hand rail, so except for the main cable and branches, no additional installations are needed. 6
