Thank you for choosing a Goldair Electric Vacuum. This Goldair appliance has been designed and manufactured to high standards of engineering and with proper use and care, as described in this leaflet, will give you years of useful service. Please read these instructions carefully. GENERAL CARE AND SAFETY GUIDE ALWAYS Always ensure hands are dry before handling the plug or the Vacuum. Use only as described in this manual. Always be sure to unplug from the socket when not in use and before cleaning. Use only manufacturers recommended attachments. Carry out regular checks of the supply cord to ensure no damage is evident. Hold plug when rewinding the cord. Don t allow plug to whip when rewinding. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. Indoor use only. NEVER Leave vacuum cleaner when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not use and before servicing. Use outdoors or on wet surfaces. Never use this appliance for any purpose other than its intended use. This appliance is for household use only. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are supervised or have been given instruction concerning the use of the vacuum cleaner by a person responsible for their safety. Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is near children. Pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes. Pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run vacuum cleaner over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces. Unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord. Never use harsh, abrasive or caustic cleaners to clean this appliance. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE WARNING: Hold the plug when rewinding the cord. Do not allow the cord to whip when rewinding. Use and function Assembling vacuum cleaner Note: Always remove the power plug from the wall outlet before assembling or removing accessories. 1.) Attaching the Flexible Hose into the vacuum. - Connect the flexible hose into the air intake duct, push in until you hear a click, indicating it is in its locked position. 2.) Fitting the tube to the curved wand/hose extension. - Push the tube into the curved wand/hose extension. 3.) Fitting the Floor Brush to the tube. - Push the tube into the floor brush. Adjust the telescopic tube to the desired length. Variable suction control Note: Once all attachments are in place, unwind the entire length of the power cord and insert the plug into the wall outlet. A yellow mark on the power cord shows the maximum ideal cable length. NOTE: Do not pull the power cord beyond the red mark. 1.) Insert the power plug into the wall outlet. 2.) Press the power button / control dial to turn the vacuum cleaner on. 3.) To adjust the suction, turn the control dial clockwise to increase power or anti-clockwise to decrease power on the vacuum cleaner. 4.) To rewind the power cord, press the cord rewind button with one hand and guide the power cord with the other hand to ensure that it does not whip causing damage or injury. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE CONTINUED Motor thermostat Important: This motor is equipped with a motor protective thermostat. If for some reason the vacuum cleaner should overheat, the thermostat will automatically turn the unit off. Should this occur turn power switch off and unplug the vacuum cleaner from the wall outlet, change dust bag and clean filters. Allow the unit to cool for approximately 1 hour. To restart, plug the vacuum into the wall outlet and turn the vacuum cleaner back on. Removing dust from dust canister: 1.) Lift dust canister handle 2.) Remove dust canister from vacuum by lifting out 3.) Press dust release lever located on the bottom of the canister to open the canister (please note this should be done over a rubbish bin as all contents will be released) 1 2 3 Removing & cleaning pre-motor filter and Hepa outlet filter Warning: Always unplug the unit from electrical outlet before removing the dust bag. a.pre-motor filter 1.) Remove the dust canister as per instructions number 1 and 2 above 2.) Twist the top of the canister anti-clockwise and lift to release 3.) Outlet filter grill 1 2 Hepa outlet filter Please note: The Hepa filter will became dusty through use, over time this will affect the performance of the filter and vacuum if it is not replaced. We suggest that the filter be replaced when suction appears to be reduced. Note: The suction hole must be open and free of any obstructions at all times. Otherwise, the motor will overheat and may become damaged. Important: All filters should be checked regularly for signs of damage, preferably after each cleaning task. The filters must be replaced immediately if they become damaged. Always disconnect the vacuum from the electrical outlet when checking the filters. TWO YEAR WARRANTY Your Goldair product has been inspected and tested and is guaranteed subject to the following for a period of two years from the date of purchase against defects in workmanship and materials. During this period, such defects will be rectified by repair or replacement of the product purchased. Your product contains no user serviceable components and this warranty becomes invalid if in our opinion the product has been misused, abused, incorrectly installed, tampered with, connected to an electrical supply not corresponding with the name plate specification, or subjected to power surges. The warranty does not include any labour or other associated expense that may be involved in removal or installation of the product. Normal wear and tear is expressly excluded. If your Goldair product fails to operate satisfactorily, please return it to the retailer from whom it was purchased. To obtain a repair or replacement product under this warranty, you will need to produce satisfactory evidence of date of purchase. The completed warranty and purchase receipt must be presented with the product. The warranty should be filled out at the time of purchase. It is in your interest to make sure this is done. If the product is to be replaced (cannot be repaired) then that replacement will be of the same or similar product or accessory excluding packaging, instruction card etc. Where a replacement product is supplied, this shall be guaranteed for the balance of the original warranty period. Any model that is no longer available will be replaced by a model of a value and with such features as we consider appropriate in the circumstances. Goldair Ltd is not responsible for freight forwarding charges, losses or damage in transit. If service is required after the warranty period has expired, the product should be returned to a qualified electrical technician. Service outside of the warranty period will be at your cost. Consumers Guarantee Act (1993). In accordance with the above act consumers are advised that: The manufacturer does not undertake that repair facilities and parts are necessarily available for this product. If any of the provisions of the foregoing are contrary to any relevant legislation, then that provision shall be deemed to be excluded from the warranty and the rest of the provisions will continue to apply.
