SERIES Z22 - WHEN GOOD IS NOT ENOUGH. Since we delivered our first process pumps back in the 1870 s, our goal has been to optimize our customers processes by supplying extremely reliable and highly efficient solutions. 130 years later, our efforts are more intense than ever to provide non-stop reliability along with the lowest Life Cycle Costs on the market. Improvements in pump reliability and efficiency come from learning everything about your process as well as knowing everything there is to know about pumps. Our dedication, experience and process knowledge has kept us in the forefront of technology, the Z22 pumps are no exception to this dedication. 2

These two Z22 600/600-75 pumps are installed at Ringsjöholm raw water intake in Sweden. Wide range of applications Z22 pumps are at work in many demanding operations. They are trusted for pulp and paper production, in water and sewage works, district heating systems, power plants and other crucial applications. High reliability The Z22-pumps are extremely reliable. Many units have been in operation for several decades with only routine maintenance of bearings and shaft seals. Of course, operating environments vary so each pump faces different conditions, but the basic designs of the Z22 has proved itself day in and day out for years. The sturdy shaft/bearing construction ensures smooth running with very low vibrations. High efficiency Many of these pumps have a peak efficiency of over 90%. Each pump is tested to ISO 9906, Grade 2, or other agreed standard. Thanks to the replaceable wear rings, this high efficiency can be maintained through a pump s life. The Z22 series comprises of 25 sizes with different impeller design available. This flexibility ensures that energy consumption is minimised throughout a pump s complete operating range. Robust pump design Sturdy shaft/bearing construction ensures smooth running with very low vibrations. Low NPSH requirement Double-suction impellers have significantly lower NPSH requirements than single-suction impellers at the same capacity and speed. This makes the Z22 pumps perfect for difficult suction conditions and may offer reduced installation costs. The perfect fan pumps Fan pumps for paper machines require special impellers and features designed to meet stringent performance requirements. Certain sizes of the Z22 are perfectly suited for this application. More sizes. More flexibility All pumps can be installed horizontally or vertically and some can be supplied with right-angle connections. Various materials, different pressure ratings and alternative shaft seal designs are also available. For every application, there is a suitable version. Simplicity of service By lifting up the top casing half, the rotor can be removed without disturbing the pipework or motor. 3

THE Z22. DESIGNE OPTIMIZE TOU Pump casing The casing is axially split, which permits removal of the complete rotor without moving either the piping or the motor. Pumps generating high heads have double volutes to reduce radial forces, ensuring minimal shaft deflection and low bearing loads. Replaceable wear rings between the suction and discharge side enable high efficiency throughout the whole lifetime of the pump. High head pumps are also fitted with replaceable impeller wear rings. Impeller The closed impellers have double curved vanes for optimum flow conditions. The double suction design gives practically zero axial forces. Each impeller is statically and dynamically balanced according to ISO 1940, Grade 6.3. (For Fan pumps Grade 2.5). For each pump size there are normally two or more impeller variants available to best suit various applications. All sizes are available with mechanical seals and most sizes with gland packing. Double-suction impellers have lower NPSH requirements. The top casing half can easily be removed for inspection or service. Shaft and shaft sleeves The shaft deflection at the seal positions is less than 0.05 mm. At its entire length the shaft is protected by shaft sleeves, wich are O-ring sealed. Bearings Grease lubricated bearings are used. They are designed for a calculated bearing life of at least 50,000 hours, which is equivalent to 6 years continuous service. A deep groove single-row bearing is used at the drive end. A pair of matched angular contact ball bearings are used at the nondrive end. Deflectors and V-ring seals protect the bearings against moisture and dirt ingress both when running or at standstill. The bearing brackets are drilled as standard for SPM nipples and can also be fitted with temperature sensors. The rigid axial thrust bearing can take high axial loads, and the pumps can therefore be vertically mounted. Shaft seals All sizes can be supplied with mechanical seals and most sizes with gland packing. 4

Seal options To protect the shaft most of the pumps have shaft sleeves also outside the shaft seals. Mechanical seal of standard type for clean or slightly contaminated liquids at me dium inlet pressures. Balanced mechanical seal for clean or slightly contaminated media at higher inlet pressures and/or high temperatures. Mechanical seal with quench is suitable for corrosive or highly contaminated liquids and fibre slurries, e.g. paper stock. The double volute reduces radial forces on the impeller and consequently the bearing loads. Gland packing with or without lantern ring. Product recirculation or external sealing liquid can be used. 5
