Memories are personal to you and your memorial should reflect this, helping to remember and celebrate a person s life. We advise that you visit the crematorium and speak to our staff before making a final decision. Nestling in the beautiful Forest of Dean, the crematorium offers a unique setting for a funeral. Making it feel a place of peace and seclusion, which is so important for a funeral. The building has been especially designed to blend into its environment. Built with local timber and stone it has a natural elegance, in keeping with the surrounding scenery. The chapel is spacious and fitted with an excellent music system. The chapel has a large bay windows allowing wide views of the forest landscape beyond. We feel privileged to be able to provide this service in such a special, natural place. An organ is available to play more traditional pieces and families have the choice to create their own individual funeral. PA and loop systems have also been fitted for the convenience of mourners. The most advanced technology has been used throughout our service, ensuring that Forest Of Dean crematorium is one of the most environmentally friendly in the world. Probably the most picturesque chapel owned by Westerleigh, we are able to seat 70 people with standing space for a further 50. Speakers are also located outside of the chapel allowing larger parties to be catered for. We allow 60-minutes between each service including half an hour within the chapel with time either side for people to get settled and to leave unhurried. This ensures that every family has enough time to hold a personal and dignified service. We feel that it is essential that you are able to hold the funeral of your choice and our chapel can be altered, with prior arrangement, to create a suitable environment for a service of any religion or belief. The floral tribute area is set to the side of the chapel, offering a quiet spot to gather with friends and family after the service. Living Memorials Living Memorials Living Memorials Trees A variety of trees have been planted in our gardens to provide natural, living memorials, each surrounded by granite setts and can be marked with a dedication plaque. Communal Shrub Beds Shrubs and bushes provide a traditional form of remembrance. They have been arranged in communal beds into which dedication plaques may be placed. Standard Roses Our rose trees provide a beautiful and traditional form of remembrance. They are arranged in individual beds surrounded by granite setts and can be marked with a dedication plaque. Family Gardens Family gardens are dedicated to individual families and are planted separately. Contemporary Memorials Dedication Plaques Dedication Plaques Wall Plaques Contemporary Memorials Reflection Stone The reflection stone is a unique cremation memorial, hewn from basalt with a beautiful natural appearance. Each stone can be dedicated to the memory of a loved one and ashes may be scattered or buried close by. The inscription is engraved on a tempered glass panel on the top sloping face of the stone. Book Plaques Column Plaques Well Plaques Leaf Vault A unique above ground ashes vault created in Rainbow Sandstone or Granite. The memorial securely holds either one or two sets of ashes and is finished with a granite Leaf design for the inscription, offering an original, fitting and dignified resting place. The inset Vase can be used with any of the vaults shown. Plaques Natural and long lasting granite plaques are engraved with your personal dedication. The plaque is placed on a communal memorial set within the Gardens of Remembrance. A small upright headstone and kerb set provides a distinctive memorial to mark the burial plot of your loved one s ashes. Each measures approximately 2ft (60cm), is available in a range of granites and can be made to accommodate one or two vases for displaying cut flowers. The area in front of the headstone can be filled with coloured chippings or with soil for planting. Alternatively, a co-ordinating granite slab can be provided. Garden Memorials Unlike other traditional memorials, these secure granite vaults hold the ashes urn above ground, making them particularly suitable for shorter term leases. They consist of a granite sanctum and an above ground mini grave that can each hold up to four sets of ashes. The vaults are available in the full range of granites, unless otherwise stated. A range of hand-carved memorials are available, which are ideally placed within communal gardens. They are also often used to mark the ashes burial plot within a private space. Available in all granite colours, they can also be made of Italian white marble but it is important to note that marble will weather naturally over time. Book of Remembrance Probably the most picturesque chapel owned by Westerleigh... The Book of Remembrance is on display 365 days of the year in a cabinet in our waiting room. It provides an inexpensive yet permanent and dignified memorial with entries recorded by hand. Entries can also be made for loved ones whose funeral took place elsewhere, providing a place of remembrance for families who have become separated or moved apart. The book consists of a number of hand-made, richly-bound volumes and the pages are turned daily. Usually, the entry is placed on the date of death but other anniversaries or dates of importance may be chosen. Two, five or eight lines may be chosen and a floral motif or suitable badge can form part of a five or eight line entry. Miniature Books and Cards also available.
