HEALTH AND SAFETY "(only for UK Market)" For the servicing of refrigeration products, containing Isobutane R600a refrigerant. These instructions are in addition to any other Company procedures already published. Published primarily for Indesit Company engineers working in the UK or Southern Ireland, for which these instructions are MANDATORY. 1. Only engineers who have been trained on the safe handling of Isobutane R600a refrigerant are authorised to transport, store or carry out system repairs. 2. This manual is not intended as a comprehensive repair/maintenance guide to the appliance. 3. Must only be used by suitably qualified persons having technical competence, applicable product knowledge, suitable tools and test equipment. 4. Servicing of electrical appliances must be undertaken with the appliance disconnected (unplugged from the electrical supply). 5. Servicing must be preceded by earth continuity and insulation checks, plus refrigerant leak detection. 6. Personal safety precautions must be taken to protect against accidents caused by sharp edges on metal and plastic parts. 7. After servicing, the appliance must be rechecked for electrical safety. 8. Smoking, naked flames, or operating gas and/or electrical equipment (including cordless power tools) are forbidden within the storage area, working area and vehicles used to transport Isobutane. 9. The carrying case for the scales and refrigerant must display a red flammability label Part Number 8100063 that should be visible and readable at all times. 10. The vehicle and storage area must be ventilated as far as is reasonably practicable and the aluminium case kept out of direct sunlight. The storage temperature of Isobutane should not exceed 50 C. 11. The vehicle transporting Isobutane (R600a) refrigerant must display a Red Flammable Gas warning sticker (Part Number 8100063). 12. Engineers should not wear clothes that are liable to cause static discharge ('electrostatic sparking'). 13. Avoid working in small rooms. 14. Do not work in cellars. 15. Whenever possible move the appliance into a larger open area away from possible ignition sources. 16. Request the customer to turn off all other electrical and gas appliances in the near vicinity of the repair and note that it is done. Customers should be advised to restrict activity within the near vicinity for a short time. 17. Isobutane refrigerant must be vented to atmosphere, (outside of the premises e.g. via open window through the clear plastic hose supplied). 18. Isobutane is heavier than air and must not be vented within 3 metres of the following: sewer cover, cellar, drain or any similar construction lower than ground level, boiler air inlet/outlet, or near any possible source of ignition. continued... 2 of 15

HEALTH AND SAFETY "(only for UK Market)" 19. Working with a naked flame i.e. soldering or brazing is forbidden. Unless otherwise stated, pipework connections must only be made using the Lokring coupling system. 20. Electronic leak detectors with high voltage tips must NOT be used with any Isobutane (R600a). 21. All equipment used for this activity must be checked regularly and maintained in a safe working condition; parts must be replaced as required. Information Regarding Isobutane Canisters 1. The maximum quantity of Isobutane an engineer should hold or store at any one time is two 1kg net aluminium canisters, supplied individually as Part Number 2602600. 2. Canisters must be stored inside the aluminium case with the weighing scales for protection from possible damage and heat. The aluminium case must NEVER be placed next to a heat source or in direct sunlight. 3. Isobutane must only be dispensed to the appliance from the 1kg net aluminium canister placed in an upright position on the weighing scales provided. 4. All used canisters must be a returned as scrap and therefore, left out for the driver to collect and return for disposal. 5. Canisters must not be punctured or the internal valve damaged. 6. Before storing the canister it must have the extraction tap valve removed and the internal valve of the canister checked for leakage using leak detector (Leak Detector: Part Number 5700043). 7. All used canisters and those found to be leaking should be exhausted to atmosphere to ensure they are emptied completely. Refer to the following paragraph. 8. Refit the extraction tap if necessary, open the tap and then invert the canister. This must be done outside in open air away from buildings and ignition sources and complying with Item 18 on previous page. STABILITY BRACKET The stability bracket MUST be fitted to the wall or floor behind every 17** fridge model. Full instructions are published in the customer instruction book. THERMOSTAT REPLACEMENT All replacement thermostats must have the capillary phial taped/insulated where it is routed past any electrical terminations, in the same way as the original one fitted to the appliance. Replacement thermostats will not have the insulating tape already fitted and this MUST be done before the work is completed. 3 of 15

MODEL INTRODUCTION The models included in this publication are 1500 and 1700 mm high larder fridges, introduced in March 2007. All models are similar with regard to the furniture design, but there are variations for energy-banding (A and A+), exterior colour and 'V' models that have an air circulation fan. For banding and colour information, refer to the Front Cover and/or Specifications page. The appliance is 'wet wall' design so defrosting is automatic, with the water draining into a gutter and a dissipator. Doors are reversible but do require a T20 Torx key to remove the plinth/kick strip. A thermostat mounted behind the control panel/top facia controls the temperature; the door switch is also mounted in the same area. JOINING MODELS & JOINING KIT OVERVIEW Model numbers with the suffix 'J' (= JOINING) at the end, signify that the model can be joined/linked to the freezer. Example: SD1722J joined to UP1722J. A joining kit is available and full instructions will be included with the kit. Similar instructions are also published in this manual. When installing and joining these models together, the larder fridge must always be on the right hand side with the matching freezer on the left hand side. The fridge is supplied with the door hinged on the right hand side whereas the freezer door will be on the left hand side, i.e. both grab handles positioned in the middle. The reason for the positioning is that the freezer has extra system pipework routed up and down, close to its right hand side panel. The affect of this, is to warm the side panel and in doing so, removing the risk of cross-ambient temperatures between the fridge and freezer, which would otherwise cause condensation. MICROBAN (Hygiene Control) All models have Microban - built in anti-bacterial protection for life of the product. Food safety is becoming increasingly important to consumers with more and more cases of food poisoning. Microban is the number one brand name in antibacterial products. Microban is built into the plastic of the fridge interior during manufacture so it cannot wash or wear out. It provides permanent protection against bacteria as it reduces on contact the spread of food poisoning bacteria, which can cause contamination and odour. It gives extra hygiene reassurance as it kills or inhibits the growth of any bacteria, which may come into contact with the interior surfaces of the fridge. Microban is approved safe for use in food contact applications by the European Scientific Committee for Food and has proven safe over many in personal care and household cleaning products. 5 of 15

JOINING KIT - 'J' MODELS ONLY Freezer Supplied ~ LH door hinging Fridge Supplied ~ RH door hinging Before attempting to join the two appliances together, it is important to level each appliance separately in the position it will stand. If this is not done properly it will be more difficult to join the appliances together and undue stresses may be introduced into the cabinets over time. The adjustable feet are located at the front but there is nothing at the rear. Where a floor is really uneven, it could necessitate the use of suitably sized packing material, such as wood or hardboard under the rear to ensure the appliance is supported adequately. The items supplied in the joining kit are: 1 x Bracket (Cabinet join, control panels) - 1 x Bracket (Cabinet join, Plinths) - 1 x Tapping Plate & 1 x Fixing Plate - 2 x Brackets (Cabinet rear) - 2 x Blanking Plates (Control Panels) - 1 x Filler Trim (Cabinet front) - Fixing Screws. 1. Remove the control panel blanking plates from the freezer right hand side and fridge left hand side. See image below. 2. Attach the cabinet control panel bracket using the screws provided. See image below. 3. Remove the base moulding blanking plates from the freezer right hand side and fridge left hand side. See image below. 12 of 15

JOINING KIT - 'J' MODELS ONLY 4. Remove the base moulding from the fridge and insert the multiple hole 'hinge fixing plate' in the slot behind the lower left hand hinge position. Affix the tapping plate using the screws provided. See image below. 5. Attach the bracket (image below) using the screws provided to join the cabinets across the base mouldings. 6. Ease the appliance forward and attach the rear linking plates using the screws supplied. 7. Refit the control panel bracket blanking plates to cover the top joining bracket, after removing the small tongue at one end. 8. Filler Trim: Remove the paper backing strips from the rear of the filler trim and position it in the space between the two appliances, from the front base mouldings to the controls panels. 9. Ease the appliances back into position. 13 of 15
