Lesson 4: Key holding and the law 2.5 hours Day 1 1430-1700 Aim: To discuss the law in England and Wales. Recognise the difference between civil and criminal law; Recognise how SOCPA (2005) affects the key holding officer and define the offences of trespass, aggravated trespass, theft, robbery, burglary, aggravated burglary, assault, criminal damage; State the actions to be taken by a key holding officer on discovering a trespasser; Demonstrate procedures for making an arrest and explain the procedures for holding suspects whilst awaiting the arrival of the authorities.
