Technical Information of TSK Steam Trap TSK Co. Ltd
Ⅰ. TSK Technology in Brief 1. Title of Technology The Patent & Manufacturing Technology of TSK Float type Steam Trap 2. Background of Product Development A lack of natural resources makes Korea highly dependent on imported energy such as fuel, gas etc., to meet its energy needs, accordingly Korea has a very vulnerable economic structure to external impact. In anticipation of a new era of high cost energy, coming up with ex. oil-shock and the rapid exhaustion of natural resources, we TSK started to develop an advanced type of steam trap(s) that are environmentally friendly and also good for energy saving. 3. Characteristics A) By eliminating the vent, so called sludge-growth can not be occurred and then accordingly, it contributes to getting more durability. B) More effective energy saving is secured through blockading the leakage of live steam by combining the vent together with the nozzle. C) Adapting the leverage device bellows to existing ball float steam trap, The leakage problem of live steam is resolved. Ⅱ. Product Technology of TSK Steam Trap 1. Biobility of TSK Technology As an effective measure to prevent steam leakage, TSK technology is a worldwide unique solution patented in Korea and is regarded as a most enhanced technology viable for next 20 years in world market. 2. Product Superiority to existing Technology Steam boiler was rapidly improved and has been a key role in industrial field especially in Western Europe and North America since the Industrial Revolution. U.K is an origin of steam trap and the steam trap has been spread over the world. For example, A leading manufacturer in UK, Spirax Sarco has a business history of 100 years. The Ball float type steam trap so called most efficient product has a steady & basic structure in its mechanism and functionality for the past several decades. As a matter of course, Korean local manufacturer have a tendency that is engrossed in copy it s shape and function. 3. The difficult reasons of developing own steam trap design. A) There is a complex & contaminated chemical reaction inside of steam trap by High temperature (100 C~500 C), high pressure (0.3~100kg/ cm2 ) and boiler compound. B) Boiler compound of which major ingredient is sodium hydroxide, is a strong toxic chemical especially at high temperature and its application is to remove the scale of pipe inside but, simultaneously it may shorten the steam trap durability. C) The Vent, Nozzle and the surface of hall are easily worn down, grooved and scratched by lots of metal particles when steam trap discharge the condensed water in high speed. D) The accumulated minute steel particles & sediments grown into a mass onto the uneven scratched & grooved surface of foregoing Vent and Nozzle etc., brings a deterioration of surface-tightness and it causes steam trap to leak live steam.
(See the photos below) <Steam Trap Vent> E) Due to this particular reason, even though the world famous leading companies have tried to develop a new material which resist those bad condition, the result does not come up to their expectation. -. Knowing how matters stand, TSK tried many years to solve this problem and succeed to develop an enhanced product having better durability & function. -. In the performance test by KITECH, it was proved that the tightness of TSK product is 3.65 ~ 7.2 times higher than other Korean manufacturer s product. -. The subject of this test was a new product. In case of used product, the functional gap between TSK steam trap and others shall be more increased, because of the accumulated scale and sediments around vent shall cause the lower tightness around the vent.
Ⅲ. Technology and Design 1. DWG & Photos of Ball Float Steam Trap with Bellows < Photo : inside of steam trap> < Inside of steam trap >
A) When boiler starts operation, the gas & condensate water inside of pipeline and machine flows into steam trap through the entrance No. 1 B) There might appear the water hammering phenomena when water comes into trap and occasionally, it gives a considerable damage to steam trap however, the protection sill No 2 can prevent such damage. C) While Gas, condensed water and steam (below 120 c) is being discharged through Nozzle No. 7, the Bi-metal No. 12 is transformed to get the float Ball No. 11 gradually move downward. D) As steam temperature rises, the Float Ball No. 11 moves downward till closing the nozzle tightly to block the steam- leakage. E) Afterwards, the condensed water continuously flows into steam trap and it shall be discharged regularly in accordance with the 11 s (Float Ball) moving up and down 2. Enhanced Floating Device (for larger than 40A) Characteristics: Patent of TSK A) The upper part can be tightly sealed by adopting Bellows and it contribute to saving steam energy far more effectively than competitors. B) As the steam pressure inside of trap is equal to anywhere, if cross-section of 8(bellows) from A side is same to that of 1(nozzle - outlet of condensed water), a buoyancy of just 12(Float Ball) can discharge enough condensed water without any correlation of internal pressure of steam trap, by and through dilating the cross-section of bellows and nozzle- (outlet of condensed water) respectively. Ⅳ. Marketability of Steam Trap 1. Market Potential of the Domestic & Overseas market Steam Trap is one of the fitting items in pipelined system, but it performs an independent function and has formed own marketplace over the world. The annual Korean market demand is about 150 Million USD and the imported products from UK. Germany, Japan and U.S.A account for more than 70% of local market. The annual overseas market potential is about 4,500 Million USD of which major share is being hold by products also from UK, Germany, Japan and U.S.A. The MSRP (Manufacturer s Suggested Retail Price) of their products maintain rather high price with good reputation for the quality product, where TSK are aiming, with its brand new products, to enter sooner or later. 2. Business Plan As aforesaid, with a new concept of Product-technology verified in TSK s Patent refer to the attached, TSK Co. Ltd newly started in Mar. 2015 based in Korea and is to launch Bellows type Steam Trap and Air Trap within the 1st business year for existing customers. 3. International Trend of Technical Development Over the world, there are neither technological products similar to TSK Steam Trap nor upgraded model yet in the market and, as being a start-up company, TSK seems to be not-well-known competitor yet to the existing manufacturers. A certain Korean manufacturer has tried to develop a steam trap of 50kg/cm 2 class from 10 years ago but no result yet. So far, the highest pressure is regarded as Max 35kg/cm 2 class in the market place, while TSK plan to launch its new steam trap of class 50 ~ 100kg/cm 2 in 2016 as 1 st model in worldwide. 4. Steam energy holds 30% of total energy consumption in Korea, i.e., Steam boiler. Among those boilers, the oil & gas boilers command an overwhelming majority because the electrical boiler needs very high mfg. Cost not only for electricity itself but also power-equipment cost, while the oil & gas emits lots of CO 2 as a result combustion. Korean government aims to reduce CO 2 emission down by 30% till 2020 but it seems to be difficult for its massive energy consumption ranked 9 th in the world and besides, the energy consumption is on the rapid increase as 2 nd in the world, next to China. One more point is the inefficiency of energy consumption.
For Green Life & Green earth, TSK stand for saving Energy!! Therefore, the most suitable steam trap with the Green Energy Policy is TSK product. Considering the steam energy that possess 30% of total energy consumption in Korea, 9% of total energy can be saved ultimately by using TSK steam trap on condition that TSK products secure energy efficiency by 30% more than other s.
