29 June 2012 Exchange Meeting for Society of Fire Protection Engineers Asia-Oceania Chapters, Hong Kong, 23 June 2012 The Exchange Meeting of SFPE Asia-Oceania Chapters was successfully held on 23 June 2012, the Dragon Boat Festival, at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. About 50 participants from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, USA, Australia, Sweden, Poland and Iceland attended. Introduction by Professor Ai Sekizawa Introducing participants Professor Sekizawa was the facilitator. After self-introduction of the participants, presidents from each SFPE Asia-Oceania Chapter reported their activities held and future plans. Professor W.K. Quintiere Following the coffee break, a free discussion session was held. Before the closing of the morning session, some directions for the next exchange meeting were proposed. Participants then set off for lunch in a Chinese restaurant in East Tsim Sha Tsui. Discussion session 2

The topic was For Improvement of Recognition and Qualification of Fire Protection Engineers, starting with a message from the Headquarters of SFPE by Mr. Morgan Hurley, Technical Director of SFPE. A keynote lecture titled Professional Licensing and Certification for Fire Protection Engineers was delivered by Mr. Chris Jelenewicz, Engineering Program Manager of SFPE. Keynote lecture by Mr. Chris Jelenewicz After the coffee break, there were two more lectures on special topics. The first one is Fire Safety Design of Tokyo Sky Tree by Mr. Kiyoshi Fukui, President of the SFPE-Japan Chapter. The other one Implementation of Registered Fire Protection Engineers in Hong Kong was presented by Mr. Leung Kwun-Hong, Acting Deputy Chief Fire Officer (Fire Safety), Hong Kong Fire Services Department. The one-day program came to an end at about 4:30 pm after the Questions and Answers session and a closing remark made by Professor Ai Sekizawa.
