Hadlemore Oak Redbrook Street Woodchurch TN26 3QT
Seller Insight Hadlemore Oak, near the picturesque village of Woodchurch and just under five miles north east of Tenterden, is a stunning Victorian home set in eight acres of land including superb equestrian facilities. Rural and private, yet not isolated, the house is in an elevated position with wonderful views of the garden and surrounding countryside from every window. Watching the seasons changing across the oak forest, from my bedroom has been a pure pleasure, says current owner, Christina, who has enjoyed 17 happy years living here. Woodchurch centres around the village green, with pavilion and playground; All Saints Church, dating back to the 13th Century; and is overlooked by a traditional Kentish windmill, commanding stunning views to the English channel. There are two traditional pubs; the sizeable Bonny Cravat and The Six Bells, a smaller pub which offers live music both of which serve excellent home cooked food. The area has an excellent sense of community, with amateur dramatics, choirs, tennis clubs, pub quizzes and walking groups all close at hand. Nearby Tenterden has a great market, a theatre and a good selection of shops and restaurants. Whilst Woodchurch has its own primary school, there is a good variety of state and private schools nearby. 15 miles away is the stunning Kent coast, with sandy beaches and wonderful family attractions. However, as Christina says the area is ideal for commuters; London is a two-hour drive or just 40 minutes by train from Ashford International whilst in the opposite direction, the same high-speed trains will get you to Paris in under an hour. The house is situated on a ridge which offers wonderful panoramic views, particularly at the rear of the house, plus all windows look out onto the peaceful garden. There are two ponds which are a delight to sit by and watch wildlife. The south-facing garden room which runs along the entire back of the house; we enjoy it all year round. It s been such a pleasure, that wherever I next live I hope to have a similar room. Please describe your favourite aspect of the grounds and surrounding area: The rear lawn leads to the paddock, beyond which the view stretches into the countryside and beyond and onto the steeple of St Mildred s in Tenterden six miles away - It really is beautiful. The wonderful experience of waking every morning throughout the year and seeing the countryside changing with the seasons. I ll miss everything about the place. My children have all left home and I remarried last year and, although my husband also loves living here, we would like to share the adventure of finding a new home together. * These comments are the personal views of the current owner and are included as an insight into life at the property.
