Stafford Township Adopt a Park Program Mission Statement: Stafford Township has worked very diligently over the last twenty years to create one of the finest municipal park systems in the state. Our goals are to continue our commitment to our parks to ensure that they are well maintained, safe and inviting to our community. We are also committed to continue to expand upon this legacy through the enhancement of our existing facilities and the creation of additional passive recreation facilities by expanding the use of our open space. We believe that the residents of Stafford take great pride in its park system and we would like to expand their roll in assisting the township in maintaining and caring for these facilities. As part of this program we will be soliciting volunteers from the community to work through both our Adopt a Park Program and our Neighborhood Watch Program to work with the Township in achieving the goals and objectives we have set forth.

The Adopt-a-Park program is based on the premise that citizens make a difference in ensuring that every neighborhood park, children s playground, beach or natural area is clean, safe, and well maintained. By adopting a park in your neighborhood or the community at large, you can make a difference in the way your parks look and operate. Adopting groups work with the Township and other organizations by working a minimum of four days a year on park enhancement projects. The work days could include: Removing litter and recycling Sweeping and picking up glass Mulching trees Planting flowers, shrubs and trees Pruning Watering where irrigation does not exist Painting and minor repairing of equipment Spreading woodchips around play equipment Stafford Township encourages all of our residents, civic organizations and businesses to participate in this program. We have a wide array of park and recreational facilities as well as municipal buildings, basins and beautification areas all of which would benefit from active participation in this program. The following parks and facilities may be adopted as well as particular areas within those parks and facilities. Organizations and businesses that may wish to participate in the Adopt a Park program but are unable to actually contribute time may contribute money or materials to the program. Such a donation would be equivalent to actual labor and would entitle that organization or business to be recognized by the placement of a sign in the park. Sports Fields Flower Beds Trees and Shrubs Playgrounds Courts Beaches Trails Undeveloped Open Space Park Benches and Picnic Tables Stafford Township will assist all volunteer organizations with their work on the parks although there may not be any Township employees on site when each group or organization completes their work. The township will supply the following items. Gloves and bags Litter sticks for trash pick-up Limited gardening tools including rakes shovels hoes and brooms and garden hose where necessary Mulch Some plantings including annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees. The township would ask and encourage all members of the adopt a park program obtain donated plant material whenever possible Basic First Aid Kit

Stafford Township believes that this program works only if there is a strong partnership between the participants and the township. This partnership must be based on both a commitment to the park system and to the welfare of the community. The township further believes that those who participate in these efforts should be recognized for their efforts to that end and as part of the program the following will be utilized to show the communities appreciation for the volunteers who make this program work. Annually at the Arbor Day Celebration those groups and organizations participating in the Adopt a Park programs will be recognized for their efforts. The Adopt a Park program will be given its own place on the Stafford Township web-site that will allow participants to upload pictures of their work and write articles about the parks or related subjects There will be signs placed in each park acknowledging the organization that has adopted the park and each organization adopting a park will be given a certificate of adoption. Organizations who have contributed money or materials in the form of in-kind donations will be recognized in the following manner $250.00 Annual Donation: Park Patron $500.00 Annual Donation: Bronze Park Patron $1,000.00 Annual Donation: Silver Park Patron $2,500.00 Annual Donation: Gold Park Patron $5,000.00 Annual Donation: Platinum Patron $10,000.00 Annual Donation: Diamond Patron Corporate donations or in-kind services will be recognized on a separate sign acknowledging their level of sponsorship. All donating organizations will be given the opportunity to select the park for which they are donating the funds. Corporate sponsors will also be given the opportunity to donate to the Adopt a Park fund and their contribution will be recognized in a location selected by the township. Finally unassigned annual donation at the $2,500 level and above will be entitled to recognition in multiple park locations according to the following schedule. $2,500.00 Annual Donation: Choice of 3 parks $5,000.00 Annual Donation: Choice of 7 parks $10,000.00 Annual Donation: All Township Parks Each participating member of the Adopt-a Park program will receive a certificate of appreciation and acknowledgement by resolution of the governing body during national volunteer s month. The Adopt-a Park program will be recognized on our annual calendar as one of the strengths of our community. If you or your organization decide to become a member of the Adopt-a Park program it will be necessary for you to agree to the following stipulations 1. To conduct all activities in a safe and responsible manner 2. To abide by all park rules and ordinances 3. To notify the Administrators office if resigning 4.
