FLATWORK IRONERS EXPERIENCE AND INNOVATION GIVES THE BEST RESULTS 80 Girbau s 80 flatwork ironers are the result of more than 35 years of experience in manufacturing ironers; that s 35 years of continuous improvement. The challenge of maintaining ironing productivity and quality while delivering maximum energy savings and environmental performance has lead us to create the 80. THE BEST CHEST, TOP QUALITY IRONING The objective of the 80 is not only to achieve maximum productivity and profitability for your business, but to ensure top quality ironing. The chest has been designed and manufactured in such a way that each of the chest s parameters that affect the ironing quality exceeds the highest quality standards. The chest s geometry and perfectly polished surface, together with a large fluid flow section, guarantee an even temperature throughout the surface of the chest. The deformation of the chest due to pressure and temperature is minimal. ROBUSTNESS, DURABILITY AND CONTINUED PRODUCTIVITY Girbau flatwork ironers are built to last. The ironer s frame is built with carbon steel primer protected by epoxy paint. WHY A RIGID AND NOT FLEXIBLE CHEST? Girbau has stood its ground in its decision to opt for the rigid chest over the flexible chest. More than 35 years experience and hundreds of customers satisfied with Girbau ironers were decisive arguments in favour of manufacturing the new 80 with a rigid chest and large fluid flow section. Time has confirmed that it is more difficult for fluids to circulate in flexible chests. In the gas version, it is even more difficult, increasing energy consumption and leading to oil cracking. Athough manufacturing flexible chests permits a significant decrease in costs for manufacturers, Girbau has always been clear that coitment to cost reduction is only possible if the same quality can be guaranteed for the customer. Time has proved us right. Girbau s rigid chests are based on rollers that allow an adjustment displacement, which guarantees that in any pressure and temperature conditions, the linen passes perfectly between chests and union bridges. The construction of the cylinders together with the padding provided by galvanised springs and a protective felt covering guarantee an even pressure, without leaving any marks. Each chest has an automatic selfcentring system with its cylinder. IRONING EFFICIENCY The manufacturers of ironers with flexible chests argue that they enable a more even pressure, which translates as better ironing efficiency. OTHER MANUFACTURERS The figures included show that this statement is not true. The flexible chest enables a greater angle but works with a lower constant pressure. GIRBAU Girbau s rigid chest provides an equivalent ironing efficiency (yellow area of the graph) thanks to the sum of pressures, but the ironing quality is superior due to the area of greater pressure. We can suarise that it achieves equal drying capacity but greater ironing quality. The sum of these factors enables us to achieve the ironing quality and finish that Girbau s customers value.

It is also achieved by making the ironer easy to use with controls that are easy to understand, with ergonomic measurements and with safety systems that avoid all types of incident. AUTOMATIC SPEED ADJUSTMENT 80 flatwork ironers have the Autospeed System, Girbau s exclusive and patented system that automatically adjusts the ironing speed to suit the type of linen and humidity. The Autospeed system ensures even drying. The user can decide whether to work with the automatic system or deactivate it and work manually. EXCELLENT STEAM EXHAUST The cylinders of the 80 are perforated throughout for maximum suction and moisture exhaust and incorporate heavyduty springs and felt padding. An extractor fan is located at each cylinder shaft to pull evaporated moisture away, thus increasing production and ironing quality. WORKING WITH THE 80 IS EASY Working with a Girbau 80 flatwork ironer is easy and comfortable. The electronic prograable microprocessor control provides maximum consistent control and perfect adaptation to the user s specific needs. It incorporates: Autospeed system, manual mode operation, operation mode with prograed speeds, operation mode for ribbon replacement, temperature display of each chest ironing surface, display of cylinder real speed, etc. STRICT SAFETY MEASURES 80 flatwork ironers incorporate active and passive safety systems to protect their operators. Passive safety: A fixed tray for item feeding ensuring safe distancing between the operator and the machine; Fixed safety guards: top mounted cladding, access walkway to top of machine, safety handrails. Active safety: Switch disconnector; Emergency stops; Hand guard with double sensor to control the active and rest position, with initial checking before every startup; remote control switch for additional service maintenance, several adjustment and ironing warnings. The result of extensive experience When designing the 80, Girbau took into account the specifications of the feeders and folders from the leading manufacturers.
GAS BOILER WITH 90% PERFORMANCE With the gas version of the 80 flatwork ironer you can save costly steam or hot oil installations in your laundry. The hot oil boiler on the Girbau gas 80 ironer has a performance of 90% because it has four internal oil circuits in parallel, which doubles the heating surface of the boiler at the same time as allowing greater flow, facilitating oil circulation. In addition, the three fumes outlets further increase the performance and, consequently, substantially decrease gas consumption. Girbau decided not to incorporate the gas boiler underneath the ironer for two main reasons: safety (as it is difficult to access this area to clean it, plush accumulates under the machine, increasing the risk of fire in case of oil leakage) and performance. The location of the boiler under the ironer, although it optimises the space, limits the diameter of the boiler, taking into account that the burner flame may never touch the coil, according to the application guide for the Gas Directive (Gas Appliances Directive 90/396/ EEC). If this occurs, the oil cracks and it considerably lessens the lifetime of the coil due to fusion and of the chests caused by to clogging. Therefore, any ironers with the boiler underneath must work with a limited boiler diameter that considerably reduces their power and they cannot avoid oil cracking. GIRBAU Boiler used in Girbau s 80. The larger diameter enables it to use the power of the burner without the flame coming into contact with the coil. In addition, the three fumes outlets and four oil circuits substantially increase its performance (performance approx. 90%). OTHER MANUFACTURERS Boiler used in ironers that have the boiler underneath. The diameter of the combustion chamber, limited by the space under the ironer, is smaller. The power must be reduced to avoid the flame coming into contact with the coil (performance approx. 70%). Boiler with diameter equivalent to that of Girbau, used in ironers that, like Girbau, incorporate the boiler in the rear, but with only two fumes outlets and a single oil circuit (performance approx. 70%).
