GREATER CHARLOTTE CHAPTER Greater Charlotte Chapter SFPE Newsletter December 2017 Greetings from your President As the calendar year comes to a close, it s a common time to reflect on the successes of the past year and focus our vision on future plans. For our SFPE chapter, 2017 has provided membership growth and increased interaction with the student chapter at UNCC. Our chapter also provided over 40 Christmas gifts for children in the Charlotte area through our donation to Kids First of the Carolinas (Valued at over $450). Toys were collected at the December 4 th meeting and additional toys were purchased with donated funds (see pictures on page 2). As we go into 2018, presentations for the remainder of our chapter year are scheduled and will address several hot topics including specialty products and code information. Our goal is to provide opportunities for our members to stay on top of new technologies and the latest codes. On behalf of the Board, we thank you participation in 2017 and wish you a prosperous new year personally and professionally. Happy New Year! SFPE Corporate 100 The SFPE Corporate 100 Program was founded in 1976 to strengthen the relationship between industry and the fire protection engineering community. Membership in the program recognizes those who support the objectives of SFPE and have a genuine concern for the safety of life and property from fire. To join the Corporate 100 Program (Business Member-ship in SFPE) please contact Sean Kelleher 301-718-2910 ext. 101. Please visit the SFPE website for additional information and associated forms. In 2000, SFPE began to recognize such individuals and has created the Allied Professionals program to reach out to such individuals to give them the opportunity to interact with the fire protection engineering community, without membership in SFPE. This is a special program to meet the needs of those with whom the engineering community works on a daily basis. Page 3
