JEFF JOSEPH FOR AILA SECRETARY For more information about my campaign, please visit my website: http://jeffjosephailasecretary.com Because Hard Work and Experience Matters! WHEN VOTING FOR AILA SECRETARY, YOU SHOULD LOOK AT THE EXPERIENCE AND TRACK RECORD OF EACH OF THE CANDIDATES. SUPPORT JEFF JOSEPH FOR AILA SECRETARY http:://jeffjosephailasecretary.com

Why Vote for Jeff Joseph? My greatest strength is the variety of my leadership experiences in AILA at the local and national level. My experience in AILA is broad and has involved all of the important functions of AILA including advocacy, education and programming, liaison, mentorship and litigation. I believe that our fight for immigrant rights must be waged on several levels: through the education and empowerment of our members, through cooperative liaison with our agencies, through proactive advocacy with our coalition partners and Congress, and, when necessary, through aggressive litigation. I have experience at all of these tasks. Advocacy takes very different skill set than liaison and liaison takes a very different skill set than litigation. I have had the benefit of serving and learning in all of these capacities for our organization and feel that the skills I have learned through the opportunities that have been provided to me will serve me well on the Executive Committee. I know when it takes honey, but also know when to pull out the vinegar. I WILL RESPOND TO THE NEEDS OF AILA MEMBERS AILA is a membership organization. Every decision that AILA s elected leaders make must reflect the will of the dues paying members of AILA. I commit that this will be my first priority. These are challenging economic times for many members. If elected, I will find a way to continue to meet members needs, provide quality educational opportunities, be the go-to resource for immigration information, while at the same time managing costs for members. I WILL CONTINUE TO PUSH FOR IMMIGRATION REFORM It is critically important that our association keep the dialogue regarding the need for immigration reform in the mainstream. AILA can be effective in creating public relations and communications campaigns to try and change the hearts and minds of Americans so that when reform becomes a reality, the public will be ready to go to the ballot box and support reform. Passage of immigration reform is not an option for us. The more we are ahead of the message and controlling the dialogue, the better our chances of getting the votes. I want to be part of AILA leadership as we face and conquer these challenges and believe that this is one of the most important moments in AILA history. http://jeffjosephailasecretary.com

Why Vote for Jeff Joseph? I WILL ENGAGE NEW MEMBERS IN AILA AND SEEK OUT AND FOSTER NEW LEADERS Nearly 35% of the association consists of new members. We must put energy into mentoring new members. We need to make sure that AILA members are receiving the training they need so that there is true value in choosing an immigration law specialist. We need to make sure that AILA members earn a reputation for quality, ethical representation. AILA must search out and foster new leaders. Our organization s survival requires that we nurture new leaders to take AILA forward. This includes engaging smaller chapters. The less involved and engaged smaller chapters are, the less likely members will feel connected and get involved. I BELIEVE IN INCREASED EMPHASIS ON PRO BONO WORK We must ramp up our pro bono efforts. Part of the reason some individuals choose notarios is because they cannot afford our services. Our organization needs to continue to expand its pro bono programs and offer more and varied opportunities for pro bono work so that our clients are not vulnerable to notarios. I WILL PROMOTE THE EXPANSION OF IMMIGRATION PRACTICE SEC- TIONS AILA should continue to create practice sections that follow the model of the Federal Court Litigation Section. I would promote and AILA Law Practice Management Section. For a small membership fee, AILA members could join the section and have access to a listserve, practice resources, sample employment manuals, sample representation agreements and other law practice management tools. In exchange for the small membership fee, members would receive discounts on practice management books, conference registration and other perks. I would also support a Global Immigration Section and investigate other sections as well. I WOULD BE HONORED TO SERVE AILA MEMBERS AND HOPE I CAN COUNT ON YOUR VOTE I am involved in AILA because I enjoy it. I enjoy being part of a group that is passionate about what we do. AILA is the lifeblood of my career and I can not imagine practicing in this area if I did not have my AILA colleagues to commiserate with when things are bad and celebrate with when we obtain victories. I am dedicated to leadership because I enjoy being a part of this organization. I am confident that I would be a contributing member of the Executive Committee and hope that I can count on your vote.

Experience and Qualifications When voting for AILA Secretary, you should consider the experience and track record of each of the candidates. Here are the things that set me apart from my opponent and make me the clear choice for AILA Secretary: AILA member since 1997. I am the only candidate who has been elected to a national office. The membership has entrusted me with a position of leadership on the Board of Governors from 2005-2006 and from 2009-present. I also served as Colorado Chapter Chair from 2003-2004. Unlike my opponent, my practice is 100% devoted to immigration law. I practice exclusively in the area of immigration. It is important that the individual you choose for this position be dedicated to the field of immigration. Our association is 100% dedicated to advancing the practice of immigration law. Your elected leaders should be equally devoted. Within immigration, I have a full-service practice. I practice in removal defense, asylum, family-based immigration, corporate immigration for both large and small businesses, investors, worksite enforcement, and federal litigation. I can converse with all of the agencies and represent the members in all practice areas. I have experience in all of AILA s programmatic areas: Education, Advocacy, Liaison and Litigation. You should elect a leader that understands AILA s mission and its core programs and can work with AILA staff and AILA leaders as a contact in all programmatic areas. ELECTED AILA LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE: AILA Board of Governors 2005-2006, 2009 to present Colorado Chapter Chair 2003-2004 Colorado Executive Committee 2001-2003 AILA LIAISON EXPERIENCE: AILA USCIS headquarters liaison committee 2011-present AILA EOIR headquarters liaison committee 2006-2008 AILA USICE headquarters liaison committee 2004-2006 Colorado USCIS liaison committee 2008-2010 http://jeffjosephailasecretary.com
