IMPORTANT: Afer making his adjusmen, calibrae he same measuremen channel using he ZERO and SENSITIVITY poeniomeers; 4.2.6 Calibraion menu The only way of verifying he deecion capabiliy of he sensor(s) conneced o he MX32 is calibraion using a sandard gas. Gas deecion insrumens are poenial life-saving devices. Recognizing his fac, Indusrial Scienific Corporaion recommends ha a funcional bump es be performed on every fixed gas-monioring insrumens as par of a regular mainenance program. A funcional es is defined as a brief exposure of he deecor o a concenraion of gas(es) in excess of he lowes alarm se-poin for each sensor for he purpose of verifying sensor and alarm operaion and is no inended o be a measure of he accuracy of he insrumen. Indusrial scienific furher recommends ha a full insrumen calibraion be performed using a cerified concenraion(s) of calibraion gas(es) quarerly, every 3 monhs.* Calibraions may be necessary more or less frequenly based, for example, on applicaion, field condiions, exposure o gas, sensor echnology, and environmenal condiions. The frequency of calibraion is bes deermined by company policy or local regulaory agencies. If an insrumen fails o operae properly during any funcional bump es, a full insrumen calibraion should be performed successfully prior o use. These recommendaions are based on safe work procedures, indusry bes pracises, and regulaory sandards o ensure worker safey. Indusrial scienific is no responsible for seing safey pracices and policies. * For new insallaions i may be pruden o carry ou bump ess frequenly a firs (perhaps weekly), increasing he ime inervals (o, perhaps, monhly or more) as confidence grows wih experience in he insallaion concerned, on he basis of he mainenance record. Reminder: he following menus can only be used by qualified and rained personnel, for securiy reasons. 8. Special Specificaions for use in Poenially Explosive Amospheres in accordance wih European Direcive ATEX 94/9/EC. The MX32 deecion device designed o measure explosive gasses and oxygen complies wih he requiremens of European Direcive ATEX 94/9/EC on poenially explosive amospheres. As a resul of is merological performance, as esed by he research and esing organisaion INERIS, he MX32 device, is classified as a safey device when used wih INDUSTRIAL SCIENTIFIC CEX300 and OLC/OLCT 20, 40, 50 and 60 series deecors. The device may herefore conribue o limiing he risk of explosion as a consequence of he daa i supplies o exernal unis. The informaion conained in he following paragraphs should be adoped and complied wih by he person responsible for he sie on which he equipmen is insalled. Please refer o he provisions of European Direcive ATEX 999/92/EC on improving healh and safey condiions for workers exposed o poenially explosive amospheres. Specificaions for mechanical and elecrical insallaion in Classified Areas. Insallaion will comply wih all applicable sandards, and paricularly wih EN 60079-4, EN 60079-7 and EN 5028--2. The MX32 device mus no be subjec o inense mechanical vibraion and mus be insalled in a safe area away from poenially explosive amospheres. I is essenial o refer o he user and insallaion manuals for he gas deecors referred o above, paricularly he paragraph eniled Special Specificaions for use in Poenially Explosive Amospheres in Accordance wih European Direcive ATEX 94/9/EC Where inrinsic safey insallaions are concerned, i should be borne in mind ha he person responsible for IS insallaion (he Sysem Designer ) mus draw up a sysem documen demonsraing ha every aspec of he Power Cable Deecor sysem complies wih inrinsic safey. Please refer o EN 50039 for group II and EN 50394- for group I when drafing his documen. Merological Specificaions The device complies wih he following European sandards: Wih explosive gas deecors: - European sandards EN 50054 and EN 50057 for Mehane (calibraion gas), Propane and Hydrogen (gasses following response curves) where he device is used wih CEX300 and OLC/OLCT 20, 40, 50 and 60 series gas deecors. Where he device is used wih oher ypes of sensor producing an oupu measuremen curren of 4/20 ma, hese mus comply wih paragraph.5 of Appendix II of he ATEX 94/9/EC Direcive and be compaible wih heir characerisics (cf. device ransfer curve). 4
