All instructions within this section must be carefully read in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product. Restrictions Do not roll or harrow 7 days prior to or following treatment. Do not apply to crops that are under stress from pest damage, drought, cold, nutrient deficiency or other cause. Take extreme care to avoid drift onto crops and non-target plants outside the target area. Plant material that has been treated with CLOPIC must not be used for composting or mulching. Manure from animals fed CLOPIC treated crops, must also not be used for composting.
As soon as possible after harvest of the treated crop, all treated plant remains should be chopped and incorporated into the soil, to release any residues into the soil where they are more rapidly broken down. Subsequent crops that are susceptible to CLOPIC may be affected by residues remaining in plant tissues. Before planting susceptible crops ensure that remains of the preceding treated crop are completely broken down. Where the treated crop remains have not completely broken down by the time the following crop is to be planted, planting of susceptible crops should be avoided. Susceptible crops are legumes including peas and beans, umbelliferae including carrot; potatoes; compositae including lettuce; glasshouse and protected crops. Contract agents should be consulted before using on crops grown for seed. CROP SPECIFIC INFORMATION Weed Control CLOPIC is a soluble concentrate formulation containing 267 g/l clopyralid and 67 g/l picloram. It is a post-emergence herbicide for use on all varieties of winter oilseed rape for the control of mayweeds and cleavers. Absorption of CLOPIC occurs mainly through the foliage of weeds, with translocation to other parts of the plant. For best results apply to small and actively growing weeds. Mayweed (scented and scentless) - susceptible up to a growth stage of 150 mm across/high. Cleavers - moderately susceptible up to a growth stage of 150 mm across/high (NB control will not be effective on cleavers germinating after application). Good spray coverage is necessary to obtain maximum level of weed control. Care should be taken to avoid drift to non-target plants or other crops. Crops and timings of application CLOPIC can be used on all varieties of winter oilseed rape for the control of mayweeds and cleavers and is suitable for all soil types. CLOPIC can be applied in the spring from BBCH GS20 up until before flower buds are visible above the crop canopy. One application of CLOPIC at a rate of L/ha should be applied to small and actively growing weeds.
Following crops Following application of CLOPIC the following restrictions on planting following crops must be observed: Wheat, barley, oats, maize, oilseed rape: 4 months (120 days). All other crops: 36 months (3 years). If, following a spring treatment of CLOPIC, crop failure occurs, only the following crops may be planted: Spring oilseed rape, spring wheat, spring barley, spring oats, maize or ryegrass (provided ploughing or thorough cultivation is undertaken prior to replanting). MIXING AND SPRAYING Rates of use and water volume Apply litre of CLOPIC in 200 litres water per hectare. Application Apply as a MEDIUM quality spray (see BCPC guidelines). Do not apply through CDA applicators. Half fill the spray tank with the required volume of clean water and start agitation. Shake the container of CLOPIC well and add the required amount to the spray tank, continuing agitation whilst adding the remainder of the water. Rinse any empty containers thoroughly and add rinsing to the spray tank. Ensure the mixture is thoroughly mixed before use and continue agitation until spraying is completed. TANK CLEANING Thoroughly wash all spraying and measuring equipment with water immediately after use. To avoid subsequent injury to crops, all spraying equipment must be thoroughly cleaned both inside and out after an application of CLOPIC. 1. Immediately after spraying, drain tank completely. Any contamination on the outside of the spraying equipment should be removed by washing with clean water. 2. Rinse inside of tank with clean water and flush through booms and hoses using at least one tenth of the spray tank volume. Drain tank completely. 3. Half fill tank with clean water. Agitate and then briefly flush the boom and hoses. Top up with water making sure the tank is completely full and allow to stand for 15 minutes with agitation. Flush the boom and hoses and drain tank completely.
4. Nozzles and filters should be cleaned separately and removed if necessary. 5. For disposal of washings, follow local regulations. Do not spray onto sensitive crop or land intended for cropping with sensitive crop. Note: If it is not possible to drain the tank completely, step 3 must be repeated before going onto step 4.
