Eco IR Basin Tap Installation and Maintenance Guide A basin mounted tap with pre-programmed infra-red sensor; mains or battery supply.
Specification Connection Size: ½ Power Supply: Mains - 230V (inc.battery back-up) Battery - DC6V (4 x AA Batteries) Transformer: 6V Minimum Working Pressure: 0.5 Bar Maximum Working Pressure: 8 Bar Maximum Temperature: 60 C Degree of Protection: IP44 Insulation Class: Double Insulated 65 185 Dimensions 169 138 58 Ø 23.8 92 150 53 180 940 410 740 Installation Ensure the o-ring is positioned on the bottom of the Saracen IR Eco Tap, and place the deck plate on the threaded shank. Feed the connection cable though the chosen hole in the basin or counter top, position the tap and use the plastic cushion lock washer and nut to secure. Connect the flexible hose provided to the threaded shank on the end of the tap. Mount the control box in a suitable location, which is a firm sound surface, ensure the location allows for the flexible hose to reach from the tap to the solenoid valve outlet. 1
Mark the position on the wall ready for mounting; drill suitable holes, insert the rawl plugs and secure the control box using the screws provided. Secure and tighten the flexible hose from the tap connection to the solenoid outlet. Attached the other flexible hose provided to the inlet connection on the solenoid valve and tighten to form a seal. This flexible hose should be connected to the water supply pipe. The mains version is designed to take a 230V mains power supply and convert it using the internal transformer to a 6V supply. The mains power cable should have the live and neutral connected into a fused spur. Please note the control box is double insulated. The battery version comes supplied with 4 x AA batteries, ensure these are placed in the battery box and re-secure with the screws. Please note: The mains version is supplied with a battery back-up, incase of a power failure. Secure the cover onto the control box using the screws provided. Connect the signal wire to the sensor wire from the tap. User Activation Activation & Maintenance Water will flow from the tap when hands are close to the IR eye and will stop immediately upon leaving this area of vision. If the IR sensor is activated for a period longer than 1 minute the water supply will automatically stop but can be reactivated again Sensing Range The IR sensor is factory set to a sensing distance of 15cm. This sensing distance can be adjusted as follows: 1. Switch off the power to the control by disconnecting the power leads and wait 30 Secs 2. Reconnect the power cable 3. Immediately place your hand at a distance of less than 50mm from the sensor while the red LED within the sensor is blinking 4. When the red LED stays on, draw your hand back to the desired distance. 5. Wait until the red LED goes off and then remove your hand. 6. The set range is now stored in the memory of the sensor Integral Strainers The solenoid valve comes with an integral strainer on the inlet water supply connection, to clean this isolate the water supply and remove the hose from the inlet connection, remove the strainer and rinse under clean running water, re-insert the strainer back into the connection and tighten the hose to form a water tight seal, re-open the water supply. 3
Batteries If the batteries are dead the LED will flicker 3 times in 1 sec, if this happens the batteries will need to be replaced. 1. Remove the cover from the control box. 2. Remove the battery box and open the cover to access the batteries. 3. Replace all 4 AA batteries ensure the + and are correct to the indicators on the box. 4. Replace the cover on the battery box and reposition this in the control box. 5. Finally replace the control box cover. Aftercare Saracen electronic taps have a high quality finish and should be treated with care. An occasional wipe with a mild detergent on a soft damp cloth followed by a thorough rinse and wipe dry with a soft clean cloth is all that is required. Do not use an abrasive or chemical household cleaner as this may cause damage to the surfaces. When cleaning bathroom tiles the tap should be protected from any splattering of harsh cleaners. 5
Trouble Shooting Problem Cause Solution Water does not flow from the tap 1. IR sensing range is too short Alter the sensing range (refer to Activation and maintenance senction) 2. Pressures are not within the tolerance of the solenoid valve Check pressures and put additional devices in place to ensure the pressure is between 0.5-8Bar 3. Debris or scale is blocking the solenoid Remove the solenoid valve from the control box, access the integral components by removing the 4 screws. Flush the body through with clean running water, ensure the pin hole on the diaphragm is free from scale and re-assemble. 4. IR Sensor is blocked or dirty Clean the sensor with a soft dry cloth. Please note: The sensor will automatically cut off after 1 min if there is continual use A red LED keeps flashing within the sensor 1. Battery or power has been disconnected Check power source, power cable and replace the 4 x AA batteries in the control box Water flow diminishes 1. Aerator on tap spout us clogged Remove, rinse under clean running water and re-assemble Water continually runs from the tap 1. Pressures are not within the tolerance of the solenoid valve Check pressures and put additional devices in place to ensure the pressure is between 0.5-8.0 Bar 2. Debris or scale is blocking the solenoid Remove the solenoid valve from the control box; access the integral parts by removing the screws and flush the body through with clean running water ensure the pin hole on the diaphragm is free from scale and re-assemble. 3. IR Sensor is picking up reflections from a mirror or light Remove the object which is causing the reflection 4. IR Sensor is blocked or dirty Clean the sensor with a soft dry cloth. Please note: The sensor will automatically cut off after 1 min if there is continual use 6
