ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION The packaging of your product is recyclable. Do not dispose of it with the rest of your waste but rather recycle the packaging or bring it to your nearest recycling facility. Your appliance has been designed to work for many years. However, when you finally decide to replace your old product, remember to think of what you can do to help to protect the environment by disposing of it at your local waste disposal center. You can also dispose of your product at your nearest Authorized Service Center (depending on your area). IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following: 1. Read all instructions. 2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs; always use oven mitts. 3. To protect against electric shock do not immerse cord, plug, or this appliance in question in water or other liquid. 4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. 5. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before adding or removing parts, and before cleaning the appliance. 6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any other manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment. 7. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries. 2

8. Do not use outdoors. 9. Do not let the cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces. 10. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven. 11. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other liquids. 12. Plug cord in the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to OFF, then remove plug from wall outlet. 13. Do not use appliance for other than intended use. 14. Always use the slow cooker with the lid closed, for the recommended amount of time. 15. Follow the recommendations for times and ways of cooking. 16. Do not use the slow cooker s cooking pot for storing food. 17. Do not reheat food in your slow cooker. 18. Do not put the detachable cooking pot, when it is hot, onto a wooden table, varnished surface or any other type of delicate surface, which may burn, mark or melt. 19. Do not put the detachable cooking pot in an oven. 20. Do not use the cooking pot on an electric hot plate, gas or induction hob. 21. Do not switch on your slow cooker when it is empty. 22. Do not switch on the slow cooker if it is close to a wall. 23. Do not put anything under the slow cooker while cooking is in process. 24. Do not put the cooking pot near a flammable substance or object when it is hot. 25. Never cook dry beans and lentils without having first soaked them in water for about ten hours beforehand (See instructions on the packaging of dry beans and lentils). 26. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS 3

GROUNDING PLUG CAUTION TO ENSURE CONTINUED PROTECTION AGAINST RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, CONNECT TO PROPERLY GROUNDED OUTLETS ONLY. SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If a longer detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used, 1) The marked electrical rating of the cord set or the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance, and 2) The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally. Power cord Before using your slow cooker for the first time Before using for the first time, clean the outside of the slow cooker with a damp sponge - fig. 1. Wash the cooking pot and the lid with hot soapy water- fig. 2-3. Rinse and dry. The cooking pot and the lid are dishwasher safe. Plug in your slow cooker. It is now ready for use. Remove all packaging, stickers or various accessories from the inside and the outside of the slow cooker. Never immerse the electric base in water. Using your slow cooker Always wear oven gloves when moving the slow cooker Different cooking modes LOW mode In Low mode, the cooking time varies between 4 hours and 20 hours, depending on the type of food and the recipe. HIGH mode In High mode, the cooking time varies between 2 hours and 10 hours, depending on the type of food and the recipe. During cooking, do not touch the stainless steel or glass surface of the slow cooker which may become hot. Do not put your hands close to the lid edges. - fig. 4. Always wear oven gloves when it is hot. Do not obstruct the product s steam vents. 7

8 When cooking with your slow cooker you must always use the special cooking pot and never put the food directly in the base of the slow cooker. To avoid any spillage do not fill the cooking pot to more than 3/4 full. During the cooking Cooking Place the food in the removable cooking pot. Place the cooking pot in the base. Close the lid. Plug in the slow cooker. The appliance makes a beep sound indicating that the product is plugged in. Press the Mode button once to choose the High mode - fig.5. Press the Mode button a second time to choose the Low mode- fig. 5. Use the +/- buttons to adjust and display the cooking time - fig.6. Press the start button. The cooking starts. You can choose your cooking time in segments of 30 minutes. To cancel or modify a program, press the start button. If you wish to add ingredients, or check on how cooked the food is, you only need to open the lid. When the lid is opened, a beep sounds. The temperature boost indicator light will start flashing. After 5 minutes, three beeps will sound to warn you that the lid is still open. Close the lid within one minute after this beep, otherwise, after a final warning consisting of 10 beeps, the slow cooker will switch off. The temperature booster ensures a build-up of heat in the slow cooker to keep contents hot even when the lid is open. This allows you to keep the original cooking time rather than increasing the time due to a loss of heat when the lid is opened. When you close the lid, a beep will sound to confirm that the lid is correctly closed. The slow cooker will then go either to High or Low mode according to the cooking mode which was selected before the lid was opened and the cooking will resume. If you want to stop the slow cooker during the cooking, you can press the START button. During the cooking, the ceramic cooking pot gets very hot and you must not touch it with your bare hands during normal use.

At the end of cooking: automatic keep warm function During the keep warm function At the end of cooking, the appliance automatically goes into KEEP WARM mode. This setting makes it possible to keep your dish warm at a temperature of about 158 F once the cooking itself is finished. The display also indicates the change to the Keep Warm function - fig. 7. The duration of the keep warm function depends on the cooking time. The slow cooker can remain on for up to 24 hours. So, if your cooking lasts 10 hours the keep warm function can operate for a further 14 hours, after which the slow cooker will go into stand by mode. In this case you will need to start the cooking again before eating the food. When the Keep Warm function is activated, the WARM text is displayed on the LCD sceen and the keep warm light below the lid will be on. While the keep warm function is still on, you can start serving the food directly from the slow cooker. When you open the lid a beep will sound to warn you that the lid is open. The temperature booster allows the slow cooker to gain heat so that the food inside can be kept hot even when the lid is open. After 5 minutes, a beep will sound to let you know that the lid is still open. Close the lid in the minute following. If you do not close the lid, a series of ten beeps will sound and the slow cooker will switch off. You will not be able to place the slow cooker in the keep warm mode after this series of beeps. When you close the lid, a new beep will sound indicating that the slow cooker has been correctly closed. The slow cooker will then go into keep warm mode. The slow cooker cannot be manually placed in the keep warm mode. End of keep warm function When the keep warm function has come to an end and if you wish to switch off the slow cooker you just need to unplug it. Always unplug the slow cooker when it is not in use or if it has to be moved or cleaned. To unplug, pull on the plug and not on the power cord of the slow cooker. 9

10 Transporting the slow cooker Always move the slow cooker with the lid closed. If you wish to move the slow cooker while the keep warm function is on, you just need to unplug it. You then have up to 10 minutes to plug it in again. It will then restart in keep warm mode. If during transport, the temperature inside the slow cooker gets too low, the cooker will not switch on again when you next plug it in. In this case you need to restart the cooking in either High or Low mode, then allow you to go into Keep Warm function. It is not advisable to move the slow cooker during cooking. Advice on getting the best out of your slow cooker Vegetables stew slowly, so therefore they have to be cut up into small or medium size pieces and placed at the bottom of the cooking pot. Do not fill the slow cooker s cooking pot more than three quarters full. Meats can be precooked, browned or grilled to get rid of as much fat as possible. DO NOT USE FROZEN MEAT. DEFROST ALL MEATS BEFORE COOKING THEM IN THE SLOW COOKER. You can brown minced meat, like beef or turkey meat, before putting them in the slow cooker, in order to remove the excess fat. Unplug the slow cooker when it is not in use or before cleaning it. Always wear oven gloves when the slow cooker is hot and you wish to move it. Always make sure the lid is on during cooking. Use aromatic herbs that are fresh or dried rather than in powder form because they release their flavors better during slow cooking. Fresh produce such as milk or cheese, must be added at the end of the cooking process, unless your recipe specifies otherwise. Avoid sudden changes in temperatures. For example, do not add food which has just come out of the freezer directly into the hot slow cooker. Always place some form of protection under the cooking pot before placing it on a table or work surface. Do not put anything under the appliance during the cooking process. Let your cooking pot cool down before you clean it in order to avoid sudden changes in temperature which might damage it. Do not put the cooking pot close to an inflammable substance or object when it is hot. Always use oven gloves when you need to open the lid - fig. 10.

Taking care of and cleaning your slow cooker Make sure that your slow cooker is unplugged and that it has cooled down completely before cleaning it. Cleaning the stainless steel body wrap The outside of the slow cooker must be cleaned with a non-abrasive sponge, hot water and dish soap. Rinse and dry. Never immerse the electrical parts in water, nor in any other liquid. Do not use abrasive cleaning products which might damage the slow cooker. Do not allow liquid to enter the slow cooker. Cleaning the removable cooking pot The removable cooking pot can go in the dishwasher or be hand washed in hot water and dish soap. You will only need a soft cloth, sponge or a plastic spatula to remove any cooking residue. To remove water marks or any other marks, use a non-abrasive cleaner and wipe the underneath of the cooking pot with a paper towel. Residual marks will not prevent your slow cooker from functioning correctly. Cleaning the lid The lid is removable. Open the lid to a 45 angle pulling it gently towards you so as to free it from its hinges. Never force the lid, you run the risk of damaging the hinges - fig. 8. The lid must be cleaned with a non-abrasive sponge and with hot water and dish soap. It can also go in the dishwasher. Do not use abrasive cleaning products which might damage the lid. Never open the lid to more than 95. Never apply excessive force to the lid once it is open so as not to damage the hinges. 11

Cleaning the condensation drip collector The drip collector serves to collect the condensation which runs off the lid when it is opened. Place your fingers on each side of the condensation drip collector at the appropriate points. Remove the drip collector taking care not to apply excessive force - fig. 9. The condensation drip collector must be cleaned with a non-abrasive sponge, some hot water and dish soap. It can also go in the dishwasher. 12
