7 Market commentary by PMR expert With this current edition, for the first time PMR has calculated not only the value of the DIY retail market in Central and Eastern Europe, but also the value of the total DIY market, which includes both retail and institutional sales. 2014 was a difficult year in DIY retail throughout the region. The sharp decline in market s value was noted, attributed mainly to conflict in Ukraine, sanctions against Russia and weakening exchange rates of rouble and hryvnia against euro.
