The motor voltage is raised to an adjustable initial torque value. The motor voltage is gradually increased during the acceleration ramp time, max. of 10 seconds per NFPA 20. After a minimum run time and all starting causes have returned to normal, the controller will initiate a ramp down process by smoothly decelerating the motor at an adjustable rate to a stop. This smooth acceleration/deceleration of the motor reduces surges and water hammer in the sprinkler system. In-rush current can be adjusted as low as 25%. Metron s new patented fire pump controller with integral transfer switch is designed in a single narrow enclosure to reduce the amount of pump room space required. PATENTED DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY Only the highest quality components, UL Listed or Recognized, are used throughout to assure the best possible reliability. The cabinet is fabricated of heavy 12 gauge reinforced steel, with Type 3R supplied as standard and rated 40 C standard, 50ºC optional. All field wiring and service connections may be made from the front, allowing the controller to be mounted flush against a wall. Standard Features The Microprocessor based logic with real time/date clock capable of running 7+ years without AC power. Includes low battery indicator. The on-board data log memory can store up to 18 months of event history (approx. 112,000 events), and over 10 years of event history with a 2G USB Flash Drive. Data/Event log can store over 10+ years of time and date stamped events. Real time clock is accurate to plus/minus 2 minutes per year over the full temperature range. The event history can be viewed by scrolling on the display or by saving it to a USB flash drive. The event history is recorded as a.csv file and can be easily opened as an Excel file. MTS Automatic Transfer Switch Features The combination fire pump controller/automatic transfer switch is Listed with Underwriters Laboratories to UL 1008, Approved by Factory Mutual, and meets the latest requirements of NFPA 20. The transfer switch is a mechanically held double throw switch with a fast acting drive mechanism. The Metron MTS automatic transfer switch control functions are an integrated into the fire pump controllers main microprocessor control, eliminating the need for a separate transfer switch controller, reducing the number of components and wiring for improved reliability.
