WHAT IS FOGEX Fogex is a Class 1 high pressure atomised water mist fire protection system Fogex operates at 100 110 bars system pressure Fogex is an engineered system to suit the fire hazard area Fogex is a 3-Dimensional fire fighting system in contrast to 2-Dimensional conventional water sprinkler systems Fogex is environmentally friendly and safe to Use even in occupied spaces HOW DOES FOGEX WORK Fogex nozzles produce finely atomised water mist droplets and propel these droplets into a fire zone to cause rapid cooling, heat absorption and radiant heat attenuation Small water droplets have a large surface area to volume ratio meaning that the water droplets can absorb heat more quickly and convert to steam which removes the free oxygen away from the fire plume Small droplets also vaporise quickly to cause a rapid cooling effect inside the fire hazard area Fogex operates similar to a gas to combat fires ADVANTAGES OF FOGEX Fogex is fast, efficient and reliable Fogex uses ~10% of the volume of water compared to traditional water sprinklers and 3 times less water than high velocity water spraying systems Fogex uses smaller diameter pipes thus saving on costs, system weight and clutter Fogex is suitable for Class A, B & E (electrical) fires Fogex uses high pressure to atomise the water into very fine droplets ~ 1-100 microns size (MVD) Fogex assists in scrubbing the air of toxic smoke and combustion by-products causing particles to settle to the Ground Sprinkler systems and high velocity water spraying systems cannot extinguish electrical fires whereas water mist systems can extinguish electric transformer fires
FOGEX SPRAY FLUX DENSITIES Spray flux density is the quantity of water in the form of a mist within a geometric void of 1.0 cubic metre airspace at an instantaneous time period Spray flux density is expressed as L/min/m³ Fogex spray flux density varies with room sizes although ranges from 0.08 ~ 0.5 L/min/m³ COMPARISON CHART
PUMP SYSTEM Fogex pump systems comprise of either electric high pressure piston pump(s) or Diesel high pressure piston pumps. High pressure piston pumps are connected to the water supply and to the Stainless steel distribution pipe work that contains the water mist nozzles. Pumps have local automatic and manual start/stop panels and are supplied complete with RX3 unloaders, pressure gauges, pressure sender switches, ammeters, electric (or Diesel) motors, mounted onto a heavy duty Galvanized steel base or frame with anti-vibration mounts. Pump cabinets are IP rated for the specific hazards. Phirex s pumps ranges from 25L/min to 316L/min. Diesel driven Pump unit Electric Pump unit Diesel pump sets are supplied with over-speed regulators, batteries and leads, RX-3 unloaders, ammeters, local auto start/stop panel, fuel tank, radiators for engine cooling (if water cooled engines are used), exhaust manifold all mounted onto a heavy duty Galvanized steel frame or base with anti-vibration mounts. High pressure pumps are heavy duty design and manufactured with strict Quality Assurance procedures. We offer an extensive range of high pressure piston pumps to suit any sized project. When more than one pump is supplied on a project, the pumps are manifold together to deliver the correct quantity of water and pressure under continuous flow. Pumps can be either automatically or manually started and stopped.
CYLINDERS SYSTEM (SELF CONTAINED / PRESSURE SKID MODULE) Fogex Water Mist Fire Protection System can be supplied as self contained Pressure Skid Modules (PSM's). The quantity of water contained is determined by hydraulic calculations based on type and quantity of nozzles installed and the desired system running time. High pressure lined steel cylinders are used to avoid the possibility of corrosion and internal discolouration of water. Dry Nitrogen gas is used for system pressurisation. MISTEX FOGEX Fogex PSM's are manufactured and supplied in various sizes and arrangements. PSM's can be supplied "loose" meaning that the water and Nitrogen bottles can be bracketed to a nearby wall or Fogex PSM's can be supplied in a steel cradle or skid. Fogex Stainless steel high pressure actuator heads compliment the PSM's. Pressure gauges, pressure sender switches and Fogex high pressure 24VDC electric 1/4-turn actuator ball valves are also supplied and fitted onto the PSM. Fogex high pressure Stainless steel gas manifolds and regulators may also be supplied where desired. Fogex PSM water bottles remain un-pressurised until the system is activated.
