Energy Incentive Quick Guide www.connexiones.com 1700 Leider Lane Buffalo Grove, IL 60069 Summary of 2013-2014 Energy Program Incentives and Energy Conservation Measures

Forward Working with our Energy Incentive Quick Guide This guide was created to provide an at-a-glance view of all popular incentives for the busy CEO or facility manager. Most all of the energy conservation measures (ECM) referenced in this guide have at least one, and in many cases several specifications that must be met to ensure incentive qualification. These specifications are called out in the actual application/ worksheets. This guide is not intended to replace the application/worksheets offered by, Nicor Gas or the Illinois DCEO. The incentives in this guide may be changed or rescinded without notice. Possession of this guide is not a guarantee of incentive payment. Working with Connexion We engineer real energy saving solutions that deliver strong return on investment. As a registered, top Trade Ally with, Nicor Gas and the Illinois DCEO, Connexion is knowledgeable in all current utility incentive programs and experienced in leveraging state and federal energy tax incentives. Whether your next project is in the private or public sector, Connexion will ensure your project earns the maximum incentives available while achieving your organization s objectives for return on investment, energy cost reduction, and overall system performance. We provide strong return on investment and sustainable solutions through the implementation of energy efficient technologies. Getting started The first step towards an energy conservation plan is an audit of your facility s energy use. In most commercial buildings, lighting represents about 40% of your electric bill. Of all efficiency measures, lighting is also the easiest to upgrade and delivers the highest return on investment. With the data we collect from the lighting system audit, we design a project specifically to meet your needs with the goal of finding the appropriate balance between energy savings, capital investment, and workplace needs. The benefits of a lighting upgrade include: Decreased energy bills Simplified maintenance inventory Increased worker productivity Increased lumens Reduction in heat loads Reduction in lamp disposal costs Reduction in glare and eye strain Longer luminosity life Reduction in annual maintenance Take advantage of natural daylighting Why stop with just lighting? In many facilities, lighting is just the tip of the iceberg of energy saving opportunities. HVAC typically represents another 40% of a building s energy use. In manufacturing environments, motor loads can be a significant contributor to total energy costs. For example, did you know that a mere 20% reduction in motor fan speed can reduce energy consumption by nearly 50%? An energy audit of your facility will typically reveal these types of hidden, but very real cost saving opportunities. Our technical expertise enables a full compliment of commercial and industrial energy saving measures addressing all critical areas of facility operations including: Building automation systems Financial Solutions Energy management and strategic planning Compressed air upgrade Occupancy/Vacancy sensor systems Energy audits and analysis Data center optimization Power upgrade services LEED consulting Daylighting systems Rate reduction Demand response HVAC upgrade Retro-commissioning Renewable/alternative systems Power factor correction Variable frequency drives Water resource management Navigating the incentive application process If you re new to the process or applying for custom incentives the approval process can seem daunting. We ll manage all of the calculations, paperwork, pre and post inspections and approvals, neccessary for both utility, State and Federal EPAct incentives. Our engineered designs ensure that maximum energy savings are realized with all available incentives achieved. Forward

COMED PROGRAM OVERVIEW An Overview of What s New for s PY6 Energy Incentive Program Different Approach to Incentives for LEDs The big news in lighting incentives is in LEDs. Incentives for all LEDs (except exit signs, channel signs and refrigerated display case lighting) are now calculated based on the reduction in wattage from the old/existing lighting system to the LED system. This is the way that incentives for new T8 or T5 fixtures and induction lighting are currently calculated. The incentive for new or retrofitted LEDs is now 50 cents per watt reduced. All LED light fixtures (except exit signs and channel signs) must be listed on the Design Lights Consortium Qualified Products List. The DLC Qualified Products List is expanding rapidly, and now includes fixture types like linear panels, flood and spot lights, stairwell lights and others. Higher Incentives for Lighting Controls Lighting controls reduce lighting costs by an average of 30 percent. Smart Ideas has raised the incentives on the most popular controls -- add them to your lighting proposals: Daylighting Controls Now 12 per watt controlled Occupancy Sensors Now 12 per watt controlled Daylighting Controls and Occupancy Sensors Now 18 per watt controlled Photocells Now 8 per watt controlled New Incentives for Laboratory Energy Efficiency Laboratories -- in hospitals, pharmaceutical plants, college and university science departments and manufacturing facilities -- are major users of energy. The primary energy consumers in labs are the hoods that vent fumes away from workers. The following energy efficiency upgrades may now qualify for incentives from Smart Ideas: Constant Volume to Variable Air Volume Fume Hood $250 per linear foot of hood Automatic Fume Hood Sash Closer $150 per linear foot of hood Fume Hood Occupancy Controls $100 per linear foot of hood Low-Flow High-Performance Hood $400 per linear foot of hood Reduce/Optimize Lab Space Air Change per Hour (ACH) Rate $0.75 per CFM reduced Sash Stops $5 per linear foot of hood Low Pressure Drop HEPA Filters $50 per 1,000 CFM Low Pressure Drop High Efficiency (Non-HEPA) Air Filters $15 per 1,000 CFM Controls Are Focus of New HVAC Incentives Smart Ideas has raised incentives on three key energy-saving building automation measures. Energy Management System Air-side Economizer Demand Controlled Ventilation for Conditioned Space (Interior) New incentives focus on additional controls: Demand Controlled Ventilation for Parking Garages Restroom Exhaust Fan Occupancy Sensor Pneumatic to Wireless DDC thermostat Electronically Commutated (EC) Motors on Fan-Powered Boxes Chilled Water Reset Controls Cogged V-Belts for HVAC Fans High-Efficiency Pumps and Pumping Efficiency Improvements (Retrofits) Now 35 per square foot Now $50 per ton Now $40 per 1,000 square feet $300 per exhaust fan HP $10 per fan $100 per thermostat $50 per motor $5 per ton $5 per nominal motor HP $15 per HP Overview Continued Page 1

COMED PROGRAM OVERVIEW An Overview of What s New for s PY6 Energy Incentive Program New Escalator Motor Incentive Another new measure helps customers raise the energy efficiency of escalators. Escalator motor efficiency controllers may qualify for an incentive of $20 per HP. New Incentives for Commercial Refrigeration New incentives enable a complete energy efficiency offering for grocery and convenience stores: Special Doors with Low/No Anti-Sweat Heat (ASH) on Cooler or Freezer Display Cases $130 per door New or Retrofit Freezer or Cooler Display Cases with Doors $180 per linear foot Demand Defrost Controls on Coolers $20 per evaporator fan motor Demand Defrost Controls on Freezers $20 per evaporator fan motor Insulation of Bare Refrigeration Suction Lines $2 per linear foot of insulation ENERGY STAR Solid or Glass Door Refrigerator $45 refrigerator Smart Ideas has also raised incentives on these popular measures: Evaporator Fan Control on EC Motor LED Refrigerated Display Case Lighting (Open and Closed Cases) Now $50 per motor Now $50 per door for closed cases and $20 per linear foot for open cases Addition to Commercial Kitchen Equipment Incentives Smart Ideas has added ENERGY STAR convection ovens to the commercial kitchen incentive portfolio. Convection ovens may qualify for an incentive of $150 per oven. The incentive for an ENERGY STAR steam cooker has been raised to $1,000 per cooker, and the incentive for heat pump (electric) water heaters to $250 each. New Incentives for Agricultural Businesses Smart Ideas is introducing incentives to help make farmers more energy efficient too. Engine Block Timer High-Volume Low-Speed Fans Thermally Insulated Livestock Waterer (Electrically Heated) High-Speed Fans $20 per plug-in timer $1,000 per fan $110 per waterer $25-$100 per fan Page 2
