Ajo, AZ Take State Route 85 to Ajo Well Rd. and drive 1 mile north to reach landfill Mon.- Fri. - 8am to 4pm Sat. - 8am to 12noon New Year s Day, Memorial Day, July 4 th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day Free recycling is available. Please see page for details. The following items will not be accepted: hazardous or liquid waste, mobile homes, trailers, or vehicles. Disposal of commercial waste requires prior approval. The following residential waste is accepted: bagged household waste, green waste, construction debris, furniture and carpet, manure and livestock waste, dirt, rocks, concrete, and bricks. Tires No off-road tires. Residents disposing of more than 5 tires per year must fill out a manifest. Businesses must fill out a manifest. Oil 5 gallon maximum per month. This includes municipal solid waste, green waste, concrete, dirt, rocks, bricks, furniture, carpet, construction debris, refrigerators, metal and all recyclables. Scrap Metal (Residential Apply) Residents may bring scrap metal including household appliances such as washers, dryers, hot water heaters and refrigerators. Note: The fee for scrap metal is the same as household garbage. No fencing of any type. Tires Free (Residents only) Disposal of 5 tires per year is free (with or without rims). No off-road tires. Information Tucson & Waste Services offers free recycling services at all Pima Country facilities. Each facility has designated bins for specific materials. Please recycle the following items in the assigned bins: Newspapers Brown Paper Bags Corrugated Cardboard Remove plastic wrappers & flatten Paperboard Examples: cereal & shoe boxes. Remove plastic liners & flatten before recycling Milk Cartons & Drink Boxes Molded Fiberboard Magazines & Catalogs Phonebooks Printing & Writing Paper Mail Envelope windows & labels are ok. Remove other non-paper items before recycling Other Paper Examples: pamphlets, brochures, file folders, card stock, etc. Plastic - Containers, Bottles & Jugs No hazardous material containers No Styrofoam, plastic bags or plastic film Plastic - Rigid Containers Examples: Buckets, milk crates, laundry baskets, lawn furniture, clean flower pots, wastebaskets, coolers, etc. Aluminum Cans Steel/Tin Cans Non-hazardous aerosol cans are OK. No other steel Facility Rules & Safety Tips All persons utilizing landfill and transfer station facilities are asked to read and obey all rules and follow the instructions of county and TRWS staff. are payable in cash or check. No credit or debit cards accepted. All loads are subject to inspection by TRWS personnel. Bag it! Contain all waste in box or bag. Unsanitary waste (diapers, cat and dog waste) and other putrid waste must be bagged. Medical sharps must be in secured rigid container (coffee can with lid taped). Medications may be landfilled. Customers MAY NOT smoke at the landfill or transfer stations. Scavenging is NOT allowed at the landfill or transfer stations. Firearms, alcohol, or other controlled substances are NOT allowed on property. Please follow all instructions of county and TRWS personnel. Obey all signs. Drive carefully; watch out for heavy equipment. Keep children and pets in vehicles at all times. Residents will not be charged for use of the Center or ABOP collection.
