These slightly different connector locations are required for technical reasons and will not affect the user experience in any way. Important safety information read carefully and keep for later use 3

Failure to observe the information provided below can lead to personal injury or material damage (electric shock, skin burns, fire). The following safety and hazard information not only serves to protect your health and the health of others, it also protects the product from damage. Therefore, observe this safety information and pass on these instructions together with the product. Only use this heated underblanket for the purpose described in these instructions. This heated underblanket is not intended for use in hospitals. This heated underblanket is not intended for use by persons (including children) with restricted physical, sensory or mental capabilities and/or by persons lacking the required understanding of the equipment and how it is used, unless they are supervised by a person who is responsible for their safety. Do not use this heated underblanket for helpless persons, small children or persons insensitive to heat. The electric and magnetic fields emitted by this electrical heated underblanket may possibly interfere with the operation of pacemakers. However, they are well below the permissible limits: electric field strength: maximum of 5,000 V/m, magnetic field strength: maximum of 80 A/m, magnetic flux density: maximum of 0.1 millitesla. Please therefore ask your doctor and the manufacturer of your pacemaker before using this product. This heated underblanket should only be connected to the voltage specified on the appliance only be operated with the switch indicated on the device (label) not be switched on if it is folded, rucked or compressed not be tucked into the bed or laid around the mattress never be wedged (especially with adjustable beds or divided mattresses) never have any sharp creases never be used with animals never be used when damp. While this heated underblanket is switched on never place any objects on it (e.g. suitcases or laundry basket) never place any heat source on it, such as a hot water bottle, heating pad etc. When in use, the electronic components in the switch of the heated underblanket make the switch slightly warm. The switch should therefore never be covered or placed on the heated underblanket when it is in operation. Do not pull, twist or make any sharp kinks in the cables. Do not stick pins, needles or any sharp objects into this heated underblanket. This heated underblanket may not be used by children unless the switch has been preset by a parent or a supervisory person, or the child has been sufficiently instructed in how to use this heated underblanket safely. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not use the heated underblanket as a toy. 4

This heated underblanket must be checked frequently for signs of wear or damage. If there are such signs or if the heated underblanket has been used incorrectly, it must be taken to either the manufacturer or the dealer before further use. If the mains connection cable of this heated underblanket is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its customer service department or a similarly qualified person to avoid any risk. Repairs may only be carried out by specially trained personnel or at an authorised repair workshop, as special tools are required. Incorrect repairs may cause considerable danger to the user. Should you still have questions on using our appliances, please contact our customer service. Proper use This heated underblanket is designed for warming beds. It is not intended for use in hospitals or for commercial applications. In particular, it may not be used for infants, small children, persons insensitive to heat, helpless persons or animals. Safety Your heated underblanket has been designed and fully tested to the European Safety Standards. It has been certified by the Intertek Testing and Certification Ltd. UK and shows the safety mark BEAB Approved. Your heated underblanket is safe and can be used all night (setting 1 ). An electronic sensor mechanism in your heated underblanket protects it from overheating by switching it off automatically if it is faulty. The safety system constantly monitors the temperature of the heated underblanket. If the heated underblanket reaches a temperature that could be dangerous, the system will turn off the heated underblanket. Once the safety system has turned off the heated underblanket, the controller will no longer work and you can not reset it. You must return it, with the heated underblanket, to our service department. The address is on the last page of this leaflet. Although your heated underblanket has this safety system, you must still follow these instructions. 5

Electrical safety Your heated underblanket has a UK plug. If your heated underblanket becomes damaged or worn, you should have the plug top replaced by a qualified electrician who understands how to carry out this repair safely. The plug needs a 3-amp fuse (BS1362 rated). Before you switch on your heated underblanket for the first time, please check the voltage on the heated underblanket label is the same as the voltage in your home. Fitting your heated underblanket Lay the heated underblanket smoothed out on your mattress with the plug-in coupling roughly at shoulder level (see figure). The heated underblanket can be used on both sides. Make sure that the heated underblanket is always smoothed out flat and does not crumple or form folds during use. When making the bed, check the position of the heated underblanket it must only be switched on when it is flat and smoothed out. We recommend switching on the heated underblanket approx. 8 minutes before going to bed and covering it with the duvet in order to prevent heat loss. First select the highest temperature setting (level 9). This produces the fastest warming. The area intended for the head is unheated. Attention: The electronic components in the controller will normally warm up slightly when the heated underblanket is being used. The controller should not lie on or be covered by blankets, pillows etc. Connecting your heated underblanket All of our heated underblankets are connected to the controller with a plug and socket. Guide the plug-in coupling plug through the slot on the side section [9] and then connect the controller to the heated underblanket by plugging together the plugin coupling [8] (see figure). 6

When you fit the plug to the socket you must make sure the plug is pushed all the way into the socket for a good connection. If you have a dual control underblanket there will be two controllers. You need to plug both of them in. Dual control means that you can control each half of the heated underblanket separately. When you remove the plug from the socket, it is important that you hold the plug and socket and do not use the cable to pull them apart. Finish the fitting of the heated underblanket Then pull the side section over the sides of your mattress like a fitted sheet. The heated underblanket is designed to fit 90 x 200 cm as well as 100 x 200 cm mattresses. Afterwards fit your fitted sheet as usual with the heated underblanket positioned between your mattress and the fitted sheet. Using your heated underblanket Switching on Slide the ON/OFF switch [6] sideways to the ON ( I ) position to switch on the heated underblanket. When switched on, the display [2] lights up and at first displays all the segments for approx. 2 seconds. After that, the following basic settings are displayed: Temperature setting for body area: 0 Temperature setting for foot area: 0 Automatic switch-off time: 1 h (= 1 hour) Note: The illuminance level drops after approx. 5 seconds so that your sleep is not disturbed during the night. Note: This heated underblanket has a rapid heating function, allowing for faster warming in the first 15 minutes. During this time, Turbo flashes on the display. If the heated underblanket is rapidly switched off and then on again during the first 15 minutes, the fast heating function is deactivated for safety reasons. In this case the word Turbo does not appear on the display. However the heated underblanket is heated as normal. To reactivate the fast heating function the heated underblanket must be completely switched off for 20 minutes. Switching off Slide the ON/OFF switch to the OFF ( 0 ) position to switch off the heated underblanket. When switched off, the illumination and the display are turned off. 1 2 3 5 4 6 7 7

If using the heated underblanket for several hours, set the lowest temperature setting (level 1) for the body area and foot area. Note: This heated underblanket features an automatic switch-back for safety purposes. Temperature settings 9, 8 and 7 are automatically switched to temperature setting 6 after 3 hours. Selecting the automatic switch-off time Press the button to set the automatic switch-off time [4]. You can set the automatic switch-off time as 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. or 12 hours. Individual Note: Switching sequence of the automatic switch-off time: 1 h 12 h 11 h 10 h 9 h etc. 1 h 12 h 11 h etc. (time in hours). If the time remaining is under an hour it is shown in minutes (e.g. 59 min.) The heated underblanket is automatically switched off once the set switch-off time has elapsed. The following is then shown in the display: Temperature setting for body area: 0 Temperature setting for foot area: 0 Automatic switch-off time: 0 min flashes To switch on the heated underblanket again, press either the button to set the temperature setting of the body area or of the foot area. If you do not want to use the heated underblanket beyond the selected switch-off time, slide the ON/OFF switch to the OFF ( 0 ) position to switch off the heated underblanket. ECO control Temperature settings 1, 2, 3 and 4 are particularly energy-efficient. If these temperature settings have been selected, the ECO symbol is shown in the display. CONTROL 8

kwh display Press the kwh [7] button to display the current power consumption in kwh. The power consumed since the last switch-on is displayed. Due to the low power consumption in the ECO temperature settings, the displayed value (power consumption in kwh) takes a while to change. If both zones are set to temperature setting 9, it will take approx. 8 minutes for the display to change from 0.00 kwh to 0.01 kwh. Note: A healthy sleeping environment can be achieved by keeping the bedroom cool with a pre-heated bed. Anti-allergy temperature setting Useful information In recent years, the number of people allergic to domestic dust has risen sharply. Typical symptoms of this allergy are irritated eyes, sneezing fits, coughing fits and shortness of breath in the early morning. These reactions are triggered by proteins in the excrement of the house dust mite. Mites are almost always present in warm and humid microclimates, as are often found in beds. They feed mainly on human skin scales and mildew and can be found in every house. Even with regular and thorough cleaning, dust and skin cells continuously build up. With the anti-allergy temperature setting, you can fight back against the mite population and create a dry, mildew-free bed environment. For this, set the body and foot area temperatures to level 9 and the automatic switch-off time to 12 hours. Anti-Allergy is shown in the display. In order to prevent heat being lost, the heated underblanket must be completely covered by the duvet for this process. This process dries out your mattress and thereby creates a hostile microclimate for the mites. We recommend regular use of the anti-allergy temperature setting. Ideally, the heated underblanket should be operated for the full 12 hours. Looking after your heated underblanket Hand washing Before cleaning the heated underblanket, always unplug it from the mains and remove the plug-in connection [8] together with the controller [1] from the heated underblanket. Wash the heated underblanket by hand using a mild washing powder or detergent with fabric conditioner and soak in luke warm water for 15 minutes. After soaking, squeeze the soapy water out of the heated underblanket and rinse it thoroughly with fresh, luke warm water gently squeezing making sure you do not wring it. 9

Machine washing Put the heated underblanket in a large pillow case, duvet cover, net bag or similar thin material. Then put in the washing machine and programme on a 30ºC wool setting. Use a mild detergent with dosage according to the manufacturer s instructions. Do not wash the heated underblanket in a top-loading washing machine. Machine washable at a extra gentle washing program at 30 C. Do not bleach. Use tumble dryer on the lowest heat only. Do not iron. Do not dry clean. When drying, do not use clothes pegs in the wired area of the heated underblanket as they may damage it. You can spin-dry your heated underblanket or tumble-dry with the tumble dryer on the lowest heat setting only. We recommend to dry it on a clothes drying rack. Only reconnect the switch to the heated underblanket after the plug connection and the heated underblanket are completely dry. Note that the heated underblanket can suffer from over washing. It is advised that you should not wash the heated underblanket any more than 5 times in its entire life. Please note that the heated underblanket should not be dry-cleaned, wrung out, machine-dried, pressed or ironed. Never switch on the heated underblanket to dry it. Never use any clothes pegs or similar to secure the heated underblanket when drying. Routine checks Check your heated underblanket regularly to make sure the wired area is not creased. When you make the bed, check the controller cord connector is firmly connected to the heated underblanket. Check the cords and control unit regularly for wear or damage. If there is any, return the heated underblanket and control unit immediately to our service address. The contact details are at end of this leaflet. 10

If the supply cord, controller unit or connector is damaged, it must only be replaced by customer services. Storing your heated underblanket The best place to store your heated underblanket in the summer is on your bed. However, you may prefer to fold your heated underblanket (making sure it is not creased) and store it in the summer bag that your heated underblanket came in. Do not place anything on top of the folded heated underblanket, don t put sharp creases in the heated underblanket, and do not use moth or insect repellents. Please ensure that you allow the heated underblanket to cool down before storing. Disposal Please dispose of the heated underblanket in accordance with the directive 2002/96/EG WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). If you have any queries, please refer to the local authorities responsible for waste disposal. What if there are problems?
