MLS Micro Logic Systems ALPHA-PAGE-LT v5.3 Contact monitoring-paging system installation/owners manual #AP-LT53 Micro Logic Systems phone 866-MLS-FREE
INTRODUCTION Alpha-Page-LT is a paging interface system designed to monitor a dry contact (switch, relay, etc.) and will beep and/or vibrate and send a numeric message to one or more pocket pagers when the contact closes (normally closed version also available). Notification of patient calls can be sent to nursing personnel wearing pocket pagers in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or similar environments when a patient places a call for assistance. Other uses include security and fire alarm applications. The system can be used as a silent panic alarm. If a panic switch is connected to Alpha-Page-LT and is momentarily depressed, a message will instantly and silently be sent to one or more security personnel wearing pocket pagers. The system can also be connected to motion detectors to alert security personnel via a page when someone has entered a restricted area. Door contacts can also be monitored to warn security personnel when a door has been opened. Regardless of the application, the system consists of one model #MLS- AP-LT interface unit, one model PT-IP paging transmitter (with PS-IP power supply, antenna and power cord), one or more pocket pagers, one PTIP-MOD-1 adapter, and one model #PS-AP-LT wall transformer The system has two modes of operation, maintained and momentary. The mode is selected with a slide switch on one end of the MLS-AP-LT interface unit (refer to drawing C051204-1). See the next page for a full description of each mode. The MLS-AP-LT interface will be mounted right next to or right on the cover of the PT-IP transmitter using the supplied Velcro. Note that a power outlet will be required at the location the paging transmitter is mounted for the PS-IP power supply and PS-AP-LT power supply. The PT-IP transmitter is mounted with four key holes. You provide the mounting screws depending on the material the PT-IP is being mounted to.
MOMENTARY mode In the momentary mode, Alpha-Page-LT is monitoring for a momentary contact closure, such as a panic or duress switch, or a door contact. Alpha-Page-LT will immediately send a numeric message to your pager(s) when it detects that the contacts have closed. The message is a four digit (0000-9999) counter that displays how many times a call/alarm has occurred since the counter was last reset***. After approximately seven seconds the system will again begin monitoring for a contact closure and will immediately send a page again when a closure is detected. MAINTAINED mode In the maintained mode, Alpha-Page-LT is monitoring for a maintained (or pulsing**) contact closure such as an auxiliary contact from a nurse call system, security system, access control system, fire alarm system, etc., and will send a numeric message to your pager(s) immediately when the closure is detected. The message is a four digit (0000-9999) counter that displays how many calls/alarms have occurred since the counter was last reset***. If after one minute the call/alarm hasn t been cleared, the message will be re-transmitted. The message will be re-transmitted each minute until the call/alarm is cancelled. ** if pulsing, pulse rate must be faster than 1 second on, 1 second off. RANGE Your pagers can receive pages exceeding one mile from the PT-IP paging transmitter. Building construction will affect range, check to see if pages can be received at all locations in your building. MAINTENANCE Alpha-Page-LT requires no periodic maintenance other than pager battery replacement. *** To reset the call/alarm counters, unplug the PS-AP-LT transformer powering the MLS-AP-LT interface unit for approximately 10 seconds, then plug it back in.
