BUILDER PROFILE Monty Anderson Construction Group FGBC Certified Agent: Scott Grieves, Kissimmee Utility Authority Project Data: Name: Residence Layout: 4 bedrooms, 4 baths Conditioned Space: 4,452 ft2 Completion: 2012 Modeled Cost Data: New standard home, same size/location: Projected annual utility costs: $3,512 Confirmed annual utility costs: $1,971

This 4,452-ft 2-story custom home with four bedrooms and baths screams BIG until you hear the small-footprint in the energy- and water-efficiency details. The home scores a RESNET HERS Index 42, which is well below the HERS Index 100 for a new standard home built to the Florida Building Code. With its geothermal water to air-conditioning system, this home s energy use (on average) will be well below that of a smaller 1500-ft 2 story home in the area. From the start, Scott Grieves (KUA Certified Energy Auditor) worked with the homeowner, HERS rater airenalasys, builder, and the mechanical contractor to develop a package of measures that met the energy-efficiency, comfort, and durability requirements of the Florida Green Building Coalition s Florida Green Home Standard, while taking into account the homeowner s cost constraints. The FGBC Florida Green Home Standard is performance driven and is the only green certification standard based on climate-specific criteria for Florida s hot-humid environment and natural disasters said Grieves. The home also meets the requirements of Florida Water Star, Energy Star, and the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) envelope insulation levels. Final blower door tests confirmed a tight envelope at 1.24 ACH 50. In addition, the home was designed to withstand 140 mph hurricane winds. It was the first home in Kissimmee certified by the Florida Green Building Coalition.
