Stat Histology Processing with Quality Results PELCO HistoWave Laboratory Tissue Processing System The PELCO HistoWave is a tissue processing system that allows the histology lab to deliver results, from fresh tissue through paraffin in 2-4 hours. It can be used for fixation, dehydration, paraffin infiltration, decalcification, immunochemistry and special stains. (If your primary interest is decalcification, we recommend our PELCO DFR-10 Tissue Processing System shown on p. 296-298. The PELCO HistoWave is unique, being the only microwave tissue processor that can efficiently and effectively process tissue for most steps at lower wattages (below 450W), thus lower temperatures, yielding better tissue preservation and quality results. The use of lower wattage/temperature is enabled by the PELCO ColdSpot, which is a temperature-controlled processing surface that removes the uneven hot/cold spots across the bottom surface of the cavity that are characteristic of microwave processors. Examples of protocols using as little as 165W are shown on the next page. HistoWave The base system includes the microwave processor and accessories designed to process samples. Depending on your needs, optional accessories are available such the TissueVac, a vacuum chamber with a tissue cassette holder to make paraffin processing easier and faster; the Sequenza slide holder to facilitate immuno processing; or the PELCO Prep Eze tissue holder to process free-floating sections. This system can be used for light microscope or diagnostic electron microscope approaches.
