Easy maintenance and conversion All units are shipped from the factory in the vertical discharge configuration for fit-up to standard roof curbs. (One accessory curb fits sizes 004-006; another accessory roof curb fits sizes 008 and 012.) The contractor can order and install the roof curbs early in the construction stage, before decisions on size requirements are made. All units feature roll-formed baserail design with forklift slots and rigging holes for easier maneuvering. Stretchwrap packaging protects the unit during shipment and storage. In order to make retro-fit and add-on jobs easier, the unit s design allows for conversion from the vertical discharge configuration to the horizontal discharge configuration by simply interchanging the panels supplied with the unit. The same basic unit can be used for a variety of applications and can be modified at the jobsite. Ductwork connections are made easy by the logical 2 to 1 aspect ratio. On vertical discharge units, ductwork attaches directly to the roof curb. Accessory thru-the-curb service connections allow power and control wiring to be routed through the curb, thereby minimizing roof penetrations. Both power and control connections are made on the same side of the unit to simplify installation. Rounded corners on panels help prevent damage to or puncture of roof materials. Weather-resistant cabinet is coated with a baked enamel finish to ensure long life and attractive appearance. Factory-installed and field-installed electric heaters are available in a wide range of capacities. The single-point wiring kit makes installation simple. Quiet, efficient operation and dependable performance Compressors are fully hermetic with vibration isolators and accumulators for extremely quiet operation. Efficient fan and motor design permits operation at a low sound power of 8.0 bels for sizes 004-006, 8.6 bels for sizes 008 and 012. All coils use state-of-the-art enhanced copper tubing with aluminum fins. The control system is readily adaptable to most conventional and programmable thermostats. In addition, units are suitable for integration into monitor control systems, if required. The patented Chronotemp defrost system uses time and temperature to keep the outdoor coil frost-free for economical, dependable operation. Compressor overcurrent, overtemperature, and high-pressure protection ensure dependability. Crankcase heater (50LJQ004) prevents refrigerant dilution of oil during off cycles and ensures proper lubrication at startup, prolonging compressor life. Table of contents Carrier s exclusive Acutrol metering device precisely controls refrigerant flow, preventing slugging and floodback, while maintaining optimum unit performance. The two-position damper and manual outdoor-air damper provide efficient and inexpensive ventilation by admitting up to 25% outdoor air. Varislide economizer permits lowcost operation by utilizing cool outdoor air for free cooling. Reliable sliding plate damper is easily adjusted for 100% outdoor air, 100% return air, or any proportions of mixed air. Economizer operation is controlled by Accusensor I dry-bulb thermostat that senses outdoor-air temperature. Accessory upgrade kits include Accusensor II solid-state enthalpy control and Accusensor III differential enthalpy control.
