ASTEC RCC / CTB PLANTS Available in 3 and 4 load configurations, Astec plants do not require auxiliary charging hoppers or charging conveyors eliminating that extra expense. CONTINUOUS BLENDING Materials are managed with Continuous Blending using variable frequency drives to deposit aggregates in layers of precise calibrated proportions, matching the mix design in each lineal foot of materials transported by conveyor into the twin shaft mixer. This pre-blending ensures a homogeneous mix that compacts quickly and reaches density to meet the specs of your project. Bin capacity of 30 tons each; 2-6 bin arrangements are available. WEIGH BRIDGE Belt scales with dual weigh idlers enable precise calibration of the aggregate bins. SERPENTINE TWIN-SHAFT MIXER Astec Serpentine mixers are built to ensure productivity and reliability, with production capacities of 300, 500, and 800 tons per hour. Shaft-driven, high-torque shearing action provides intense mixing for homogeneous concrete in the shortest mix times allowable. An integrated discharge conveyor, with 12 6 clearance for dump trucks is self-erecting within the mixer load. The self-contained high-pressure wash down system sweeps the interior of the mixer to reduce the labor costs of daily cleaning. Self-contained solutions save footprint and ensure a perfect match for productivity and profitability. SELF-ERECTING CEMENT SILO The silo features a mass weigh control system with loss-in-weight feeding. Air-bag suspensions give the silo a smooth ride on even the poorest road conditions, and then retract to allow the frame to be lowered to act as the foundation on a properly prepared grade. CONTROL HOUSE A real control house, built by Astec, provides shelter for the advanced controls and puts the operator in perfect position to control the production. Self-contained and self-erecting, usually mounted on the gooseneck of the cement silo, the control house provides a central command center. Optional motor control centers house all switch gear are also available. WIRELESS RF CONTROL COMMUNICATION Astec plants use wireless control, eliminating control cables throughout the plant and reducing your mobilization cost. Each component load is wirelessly and seamlessly connected when you power up the plant. ASTEC serpentine TM MIXER Astec s twin-shaft Serpentine mixer quickly incorporates materials into a consistent, uniform mix. Material enters through the water curtain and is then mixed using the Astec Serpentine paddle design to achieve a uniform blend. The Serpentine paddle design alternates 90 with 45 paddles to drive material across and down the mixer. The finished material then exits the mixer at the end of the run and a proprietary automated wash-down system utilizes pre-positioned nozzles inside the mixing chamber to thoroughly wash down the interior, allowing all materials to be flushed through the discharge gate. TM ProFlo WATER AND ADMIXTURE MANAGEMENT Astec designed a proprietary system to manage water and admixtures on a continuous basis. Eliminating weighed water systems and pneumatic dosing of admixtures, the Astec ProFlo TM system uses coriolis mass-flow meters, with no moving parts, to deliver metered liquids at accuracies of ± 0.25% regardless of the production rate. Astec plants use a water curtain, with nozzles encircling the dry material inlet of the twin shaft mixer, to ensure that metered water showers every lineal foot of pre-blended aggregates and cements. This process precisely controls and adjusts on a real-time basis the cement paste volume, maximizing hydration, and matching the Water-Cement ratio of your mixes.
