Description The 450 OTDR is a PC based state-ofthe-art OTDR designed for field applications. It is a dedicated OTDR which offers best in class OTDR performance and user-friendly operation. It offers different wavelength and dynamic range options. The OTDR is also available with a combination of power meter and light source with the wavelengths of the OTDR. An optional Video Inspection Probe (VIP) for connector end face inspection is available. A battery, power supply and a hard shell transport case are included with all OTDR kits. Video Inspection Probe The Video Inspection Probe connected via the USB port of the 450 OTDR allows connector end faces to be viewed on the OTDR screen, stored and analyzed. The Video Inspection Probe (VIP) application gives operators a safe, easy way to analyze and document connector conditions. With system loss and return loss budgets tightening, combined with high powered transmission burning contaminated connectors, connector quality and inspection has never been so important. The Video Inspection Probe uses a 1/3" CCD to convert connector images to a digital signal that is displayed on the 500 Optical Multitester screen. Connector images can then be viewed or saved as a variety of common graphics files for later review or documentation of connector quality. The Video Inspection Probe has various adapters available to allow direct viewing of patch cord connector end faces as well as for viewing connector end faces already installed in patch panels. Additionally, the connector end-face is not directly viewed as with traditional connector microscopes. Therefore the VIP eliminates the risk of damage to the operator s eye when fibers are live. The optional available Advanced Analysis Software (USB feature key) enables easy-to-use direct evaluation of the end face surface and geometry on the 450 OTDR or separate PC. The 450 OTDR must be equipped with CD-RW option in order to load the Advance Analysis Software from the application CD.
