YOUR HOUZZ: GETTING STARTED + ACCOUNT SET-UP REQUIREMENTS Houzz accounts require the following information for set-up: NOTE: Refer to the Social Media Set-Up Document if you do not have an account on Houzz. 1. Professional name You want to choose a unique profile name that describes the name of the professional/business or contains a keyword describing the nature of the organization. Pick a Houzz name that matches your company name or alternatively a name that includes your business, such as Cambria. Edit the Professional Public profile page by including your business s name at the end of the URL. This will allow other Houzz users and businesses to find you easier.
2. E-mail address For a business, it is recommended to utilize a group or team mailbox that multiple team members can access. 3. Business Information The Houzz Business Information is a place to provide a brief description of the company/professionals and categorize the business/professionals. Fill out your profile completely, including your category, website, description and services provided, as most people will not follow a business with an incomplete profile. 4. Image The profile image is a logo or photo that represents the professionals/business. PROJECTS Projects are used to organize a business/professional s design and architecture projects. Be mindful of the projects uploaded. Only upload residential space. It is in best practice to upload professional quality photography of these projects and categorize photos based on a category project. It is also suggested to complete all information for each project. Be sure to tag the appropriate products and give the partners on each project credit in the project description. o NOTE: Tagging is identifying a product in a picture. When uploading professional quality photos, you will have the option tag photos once you have filled out all the product information and descriptions.
IDEABOOKS Ideabooks allow a business/professionals to connect with and find inspiration from other businesss/professionals. Ideabooks are basically Houzz s version of a Pinterest board a place to collect and save your inspiring ideas. Create New Ideabook Creating Ideabooks is a way to categorize photos you like by rooms or categories. You can add a note to each Ideabook as a preview for other businesss/professionals when viewing the photos.
Add to your Ideabook Professionals/Businesses can add photos of other projects and products to Ideabooks. The photo will always be linked to the original architect or designer, which can be seen on the right hand side. This is why it is important to populate all fields when uploading a professional quality photo to your projects. ADVICE Discussions are open forums for Houzz users and professionals. These forums allow Houzz users to post dilemmas, and industry professionals to lend advice. It is also a place for professionals to talk about the latest trends and industry updates. EX: Design Dilemma Design Dilemma is a space for your business to lend their expertise. Offer design and décor tips and tricks for homeowners and Houzz users in need. EX: Pro-to-Pro This discussion is a great way to connect with other professionals and network. General questions about Houzz, the home industry and product information can be found in this space. It is in best practice to join in these discussions to stay in tune with the industry. QUESTIONS Houzz users and professionals may have questions about various products and designs used in your professional photos. These photos are tracked under Your Houzz, on the left hand side under Questions. It is in best practice to respond in a timely fashion to these questions. If you are unsure of the answer to questions in regards to products, etc., it is suggested to find an alternative for the Houzz user or professional.
REVIEWS Reviews are a way to connect with past clients, professionals and brands with whom you have worked. Houzz uses reviews as a way to rank businesses/professionals when a Houzz user is searching for a product or retailer. It is in best practice to give a full review after completing a project with past professionals. A good tip is to add a picture of the project to the review so others can view the work that was done between the professionals. NOTE: If you review other professionals, it is more likely they will review you. FOLLOWERS + FOLLOWING Following a Houzz user/professional simply means receiving their updates such as being featured in an Ideabook, commenting on discussions, and who they are following. Photos from the professionals you follow will be displayed on Your Houzz and the professionals who follow you will see your updates displayed on their Houzz feed. Photos, comments and discussions are added to Your Houzz as professionals post them, so you always get the updates in real time. a. Followers Houzz professionals who choose to follow you. It is in best practice to follow back Houzz users/professionals who follow you. This is a great way to build your Houzz base. However, only choose to follow back professionals who seem authentic, based on 1) authenticity of the profile 2) engagement in their channel 3) likelihood the professionals will provide relevant content. b. Following Houzz professionals you chose to follow. Following professionals, of interest to your business or within the industry, is a great way to build your Followers. Following too many Houzz professionals at one time is not in best practice. Follow and grow your Houzz base gradually. Your Followers and Following should hover around the same number. You can filter based on the type of professional you are looking for and zip code to browse through the most accurate list of professionals.
