Terrific location close to Williamsburg. Description Jamestown-Williamsburg Area. Please contact owner to check availability regardless of what the calendar shows.. SEE OUR NEW BEACHFRONT LISTING RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO THIS COTTAGE "Fabulous and Funky Mid Century Modern Cottage on the James River" which is also listed on this site. It is a wonderful newly renovated cottage literally 10 steps to the beach with sunporch, views, wide sand beach and pier. There also is a link at the end of this listing to our three cottages which can be seen at ferryendcottages. Our two James River cottages provide a rare setting for vacation rental cottages in the Colonial Williamsburg area. There are only five river beach front cottages available on the James River near Colonial Williamsburg for short term rental. Our two James River cottages walk right out to the beach with no steps and are 20 minutes from Historic Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg via the free Jamestown-Scotland Car Ferry at your doorstep. Our cottage is a private, romantic, luxury beach cottage on the James River with direct water access, wide river views, 180 foot pier, kayaks, fishing poles, and white sand beach. Located on land once owned by John Rolfe, husband of Pocahontas, the cottage is level with the beach so there are no steps to climb. Just walk out the French Doors to your water-side deck, and the beach is about 25 feet away.
The cottage is a perfect size for a family of four but works equally well for a couple. It can accommodate up to four people with three cozy bedrooms - one with a queen bed, one with a double bed, and the third with a twin day bed. A fifth person may be considered. Contact owner. The living room, dining room and kitchen are an open L shaped floor plan to maximize space. The cottage is delightful and the location is wonderful. Central heat and air make the cottage a year round destination. Private white sand beach, private pier, kayaks and fishing poles are available for your use as part of the rental rate. We own three cottages, side-by-side on the James, and the beach in front of our three cottages is private for our use and the use of our guests. Our waterfront cottage is a luxury beach cottage recently renovated to provide a wonderful, relaxing retreat. Shimmering sea glass colors of teal, turquoise, and lavender complement the original vintage tongue and groove knotty pine paneling walls, incredible water views, sand beach and luxury amenities to provide a wonderful alternative to hotel living. The cottage is furnished with lovely antique beds, mirrors, and a dressing table made by the owners grandfather who was a cabinetmaker and antique dealer in Petersburg, VA during the early 1900s. Original vintage brass wall lights and mirrors are in each bedroom. Vases of fresh flowers from the garden are available almost year round. Water views can be seen out of three sides of the cottage. Enjoy our waterside deck that runs the full width of the cottage and has a gas grill, dining table and chairs, and chairs for relaxing and watching the river sights. You can enjoy our 180 foot pier for sitting or fishing or crabbing. Many guests enjoy their morning coffee sitting on the pier or walking the beach looking for sharks' teeth and unique shells --- or both. Guests sometimes find it hard to leave the cottage to explore the area. When you do decide to leave, you can spend your time visiting the many historic and entertainment sites close by. You have so many options and never enough time! Our cottage is located by the Historic Jamestown-Scotland Ferry which is a free car ferry that provides a delightful 15 minute ride across the river where it docks at Jamestown Settlement. With observation decks and lovely views, everyone loves the ferries -- especially children who can feed the seagulls bread off of the back of the boat. The ferry (there are several boats) runs 24/7 on a half hour schedule during the day and an hour schedule at night providing easy and fun access to historic and entertainment sites of Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, Busch Gardens, Water Country USA, James River Plantations, The Williamsburg Winery and many other sites. Major Civil War attractions are also close by in Petersburg (an hour away) and Richmond (about an hour and 15 minutes away) and can be reached via Route 10 not using the ferry. We provide luxury bed and bath linens, terry cloth robes, beach towels, and bath toiletries. An initial supply of paper products is provided for the bath and kitchen. Each bedroom has a ceiling fan, fluffy pillows, reading light, flash light, alarm clock, and wide wooden window blinds. There are hardwood floors throughout the cottage. The cottage has an HVAC system to provide air conditioning and heat. The bathroom has the original 1948 vintage claw foot bath tub with new in-tub stationary shower and hand shower, heated towel rack, soft close Toto toilet seat, ceiling heater, exhaust fan, ceiling night light, beautiful stained glass mirror, and a wall of glass turquoise tile. The full kitchen has custom made cabinets, a ceramic stovetop range, dishwasher, trash compactor, refrigerator with ice maker, vintage farmhouse sink original to the 1948 cottage, and microwave and is stocked with basic cooking spices for your convenience. The kitchen is equipped with high quality items and many small appliances including coffee maker, toaster, electric hand mixer, crockpot, dinnerware and glassware including wine glasses, flatware and cookware. Detailed information on the cottage and the area is provided to guests prior to their arrival, and there is a selection of brochures in the cottage. And...there is a nine foot wide and tall bookcase wall full of books of every description (including those on the local historic areas and many for children), board games, and movies.
