Short Instructions TNI 20 oxy Service-Hotline +49 761 214300 O 2 These short instructions should provide you with an initial overview and help you in your daily use of the TNI 20 oxy. To ensure the proper use of the device and for your own safety, inform yourself in detail by careful reading of the Operating Instructions.

Startup Connect the components as follows (see operating instructions p.18-20): O 2 Oxygen source (example) Oxygen source (example) Blower unit/back view Blower unit Mains power outlet Humidifier unit/back view Humididfier unit Applicator

Filling the water reservoir 1. 2. opened 1. Pull the housing lid of the humidifier unit toward you and lift it off. Hold the unit while removing the lid to prevent sliding. 3. 4. 2. Now take off the humidifier cover. 5. 3. Remove the reservoir. 4. Fill it away from the unit with warm/hot drinking water. Note the filling level! (see operating instructions p. 22-25) 5. Carefully put the reservoir back into the humidifier unit. Put the humidifier cover back on the reservoir. 6. CAUTION! closed 6. Place the humidifier cover onto the humidifier unit in such a way that the arrow on the cover points to the opened symbol. The guide lugs on the bottom of the cover must fit into the side guides. Push the cover slightly down and at the same time push it carefully to the back onto the humidifier unit. The humidifier unit is closed, if the arrowhead shows to the symbol closed. (see operating instructions p. 22-25) Do not jerkily move or transport the humidifier unit after filling the reservoir with warm/hot water and putting it into the humidifier unit. This might cause irreparable damage to the device. Remove the reservoir BEFORE transporting, tilting or moving the humidifier unit

Attaching the applicator 1. 2. 3. 1. Carefully insert the nose piece of the applicator into the nostrils and place the tube behind the ears and bring it to the front again, under the chin. 4 Starting and ending therapy 3. The applicator must be inserted into the nostrils in the direction that the two (curved) ends point towards your face. (see operating instructions p. 25-26) 1. If the master switch on the back of the blower unit is in the 0 position, switch it to the 1 position. 2. Move the fixing sleeve toward the chin to stabilize and tighten the applicator. Now it is ready! If the unit is in standby mode, press the standby button on the front of the humidifier unit. At first, a greeting showing the current version of the unit will appear. After a self-test the default display appears, indicating that the system is operational. 2. Switch on the oxygen source. Consult the Operating Instructions of the oxygen source about how to set the prescribed oxygen quantity. 3. After ending the therapy, press the standby button and then remove the applicator. The device now switches into a drying cycle mode to displace any condensate that might have formed in applicator. When the applicator is dry, the device switches itself off. You can switch the drying mode off manually by pressing the standby button again. 4. For hygienic reasons the reservoir should be detached during the day. The humidifier should be left open to avoid the formation of condensation water. (see also operating instructions p. 26-28)

IMPORTANT! WARNING! Setting air flow The oxygen quantity setting is made at the oxygen source. Setting the air flow on the TNI 20 oxy changes the portion of room air in the air mixture. Fire hazard when using oxygen! Standard setting: Example: Decreasing the air flow Turn the left knob to increase or decrease the air flow setting (max. 20.0 lpm) as mixture of room air and oxygen, i.e. to change the portion of room air in the entire air flow. The change is immediately effective. Set the portion of oxygen in the air mixture, or the prescribed quantity in liter per minute, at the oxygen source. 6 (see operating instructions p. 29) Setting ramp time By turning the central knob you can set a ramp time. During this time the air flow is increased stepwise from a starting low value to the level that has been set for therapy. So you can go to sleep with an air flow that is pleasant for you Standard setting: Example: Selecting a ramp time of 45 mins When the central knob is turned the device recognizes that the ramp time is to be adjusted and activates the menus required. Turning the knob further sets the ramp time over which the air flow is raised to the therapeutic value. The delay required depends on how long it takes you to fall asleep. If a key or knob is not activated, the setting that has been made is saved after 2 seconds and the display shows the remaining time, which of course gets continually less. During the ramp time the setting for comfort cannot be changed. (see operating instructions p. 30)

Comfort setting The comfort setting allows the user to select his or her preferred temperature and air humidity parameters. The applicator must be inserted in the nose when changing these settings. Standard setting: maximum warming and humidification minimum warming and humidification When is which setting appropriate? If the weather is cold and dry: Turn the comfort knob all the way to the right If the weather is warm and moist: Turn the comfort knob all the way to the left What can you do if you have a burning sensation in your nose? Turn the comfort knob all the way to the right for maximum humidification. The change is effective immediately, but it takes a few minutes to adjust the temperature and humidity to the desired level. (see operating instructions p. 31-32) 8 Therapy compliance/language To read out the therapy compliance, press the key in operating mode. The following display appears: The therapy compliance since the first initial startup is displayed. The date of the first startup is displayed with the month and year (in the screenshot: since August 2008). The displayed number of days refers to how many days the device was used over the entire time period. If a key or knob is not activated the unit will exit the menu after 30 seconds. To change the language, press the button twice while in operating mode. The following display will be shown: Simply turn the left knob to select another language. As soon as the desired language appears, confirm your selection by pressing the button. (see operating instructions p. 33-34)
