James Martin by Wahl OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE FIRST USE Blades are sharp! Always handle blades with sharp edges away from hand and body. Wash the stainless steel blades in warm, soapy water, then dry thoroughly. ASSEMBLING BLADES Hold the blade ends by the safety guards and slip the rivet on the key hole of the other blade. Slide blades together lightly ensuring tips are interlocked. INSERTING BLADES Hold assembled blades by the safety guards and insert the blades into the blade slot pushing until both blades are locked into position - a clear click sound will be heard. REMOVING BLADES Depress the blade release buttons with one hand, at the same time pulling the blades off with the safety 8 guards with the other hand. USING YOUR ELECTRIC KNIFE Interlock the blades together before inserting into the appliance. Insert the plug into a power outlet and switch on. Ensure the cord is clear from the blades. NOTE: Always ensure blades are fully secured into position. Holding the knife with the handle, depress the safety switch at the bottom and then push the On/Off switch on the top forward to operate the knife. The unit will not operate unless both controls are activated at the same time. Releasing either one of the controls will stop the knife. When the carving is completed, remove the plug from the power outlet. SLICING HINTS Always place food to be sliced on a wooden or plastic cutting board. Do not slice food on china, metal or bench tops as scratching may occur. Guide blades through food. A sawing action is not

necessary. Do not force blades through food. However, with the blades for frozen food, a light sawing action will help the cutting effectively. To maintain sharpness of blades, do not cut through bones, fruit pips, stones or any other hard substances or use the standard blade for frozen food. For best results when carving meat and poultry, allow cooked meat to stand for 10-15 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to set and makes carving easier and neater. Before carving meat or chicken, remove any skewers. If desired, string may be left around the meat while carving. A carving fork is recommended for steadying the meat and assists in carving even slices Do not attempt to sharpen blades. WARNING: THE BLADES OF THIS APPLIANCE ARE VERY SHARP AND EXTREME CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN WHEN HANDLING AND USING THIS APPLIANCE. NEGLIGENCE OR IMPROPER USE COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY. James Martin by Wahl CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE Ensure the power outlet is switched off and the plug is removed before removing the blades and/or cleaning. Depress the Blade Release Buttons and hold the blades by the Safety Guards. Ensure the cutting edge of the blades facing downwards. Remove the blades from the housing as previous instruction. Unlock the blades by sliding them apart. Always hold blades by the Safety Guards when handling and cleaning. Wash the blades in warm soapy water with a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or powders on the blades. After cleaning, always store blades in plastic sleeve provided.
