DIRECTIONS FOR USE IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be read carefully in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product. MISSION 00 SL is a water soluble concentrate containing 00 g/litre Diquat as the dibromide salt. Diquat is a nonresidual bipyridyl contact herbicide and crop desiccant. MISSION 00 SL can be used as a desiccant in potatoes, oilseed rape, combining peas, red and white clover for seed, field beans, oats for animal feed, linseed. It can also be used for weed control in potatoes and in row crops (edible and non edible crops) and for hop stripping. The product acts rapidly on green parts of plants and is rainfast in 15 minutes. In contact with soil, the active substance is rapidly inactivated. Extreme care should be taken to avoid spray drift as this can severely damage neighbouring crops or plants. RESTRICTIONS Do not apply potato haulm destruction when the soil is dry. Tubers may be damaged if spray is applied during or shortly after dry periods. Do not add wetters to desiccant sprays for potatoes. Consult processor before adding a wetter when treating peas. The addition of a wetter may increase staining. Do not use treated straw or haulm as animal feed or bedding within days of spraying. TREATED OATS and FIELD BEANS must be used for stock feed only. Do not use on oats and field beans intended for human consumption. When used as an overall spray in sugar beet and edible and non edible crops grown on sandy or peat soils, allow days between application and expected crop emergence or transplanting. CROP SPECIFIC INFORMATION Potato desiccation MISSION 00 SL can be used for the desiccation of potato haulm. The application should be made when the tubers have the desired size. If potato tubers are to be stored, leave 1 days after treatment before lifting. Best results are achieved by spraying in bright light and under low humidity conditions. Regrowth may occur if seed crops are desiccated early. Do not add a wetter. Rate of use Full dose: litres/ha. Split dose: litres/ha. A followup application can be made 5 days later. MISSION 00 SL may be applied to the potato crop at litres/ha for weed control (see section on weed control in row crops) and up to a maximum of litres/ ha for haulm desiccation. Water volume Apply in 00500 litres/ha. Use the higher water volume when the crop is dense. Special note regarding application during or shortly after dry periods. Haulm destroyers may damage tubers if applied during or shortly after dry periods. Dry periods are defined as periods when soil moisture deficits, calculated by the MORECS scale are greater than 8 mm according to soil and crop type (see table below). Soil Textural Group * Sands Very light soils, light soils All stony soils (including stony medium and heavy soils) Medium soils Heavy soils (for stony soils see above) Organic soils (over 10% organic matter) Peaty soils Peats Ware ** 50 mm 66 mm 8 mm Crop Type Early or Seed mm 50 mm 66 mm Canning DO NOT USE DO NOT USE 50 mm MISSION 00 SL MAPP 16977

* Based on the Soil Texture (85) System ** If the crop is immature or the haulm is very vigorous at the time of spraying, use the figures in the Early or Seed column. Do not spray when soil is dry. When mist, light rain or heavy dew is present or imminent, the risk of damage is increased. On medium, heavy and organic soils, crops may be sprayed if 1 mm of rain has fallen or the equivalent amount of irrigation has been applied in the previous five days and the soil around the tubers is moist. On sands, light and stony soils, crops may be sprayed if 1 mm of rain has fallen or the equivalent amount of irrigation has been applied in the previous two days and the soil around the tubers is moist. Soil moisture must be assessed in the field to ensure that the rainfall or irrigation has penetrated to below tuber depth. All parts of the field must comply with this requirement, particularly where soils vary within the field. Desiccation of other crops before harvest MISSION 00 SL should be applied when the crops are mature or approaching maturity. If MISSION 00 SL is applied too early, this will result in immature seed with poor germination and low weight. MISSION 00 SL will not speed up crop maturity. Maximum number of treatments: one per crop. Oilseed rape Apply MISSION 00 SL when the seed colour on most plants is as follows: Top third: More than half the seeds are green, firm and pliable with a few seeds brown to black. Middle third: 90% of seeds are redbrown to darkbrown with a few black. Remaining 10% of seeds are green but are firm and pliable. Bottom third: All seeds are darkbrown to black. This is usually days later than windrowing would normally have started. In crops which are leaning over, the seeds on the upper side of the stem will mature ahead of those shaded from the sunlight. In this situation, spray when all the seeds in the exposed pods have turned redbrown to darkbrown. Do not wait for all the shaded seeds to ripen. Do not apply when the crop is immature or past the recommended stage. Avoid desiccation on thin, standing crops and on exposed sites. Rate of use: litres/ha. Add an alcohol ethoxylate Water volume: Apply in 50500 litres/ha. Use the higher water volume when the crop is dense. Harvest: Harvest can take place 710 days after application. Moisture content of the seeds should be checked first. Combining peas (harvested dry) Apply MISSION 00 SL when the crop is mature, which is when the crop starts to show an overall yellow colour (moisture content of peas is 5% or less). Top pods: Pods are fleshy, slightly pitted and green, or starting to turn yellow. Seed splits if squeezed. Middle pods: Pods are yellow, crinkled and becoming dry. Seeds are rubbery and can be squeezed without splitting. Bottom pods: Pods are yellow/brown and paperthin. Seeds are quite hard. Earlier treatment may result in a proportion of shriveled peas from immature pods, thus lowering yields. In addition the crop will take longer to dry out so that some of the advantage of desiccation is lost. There is also a risk of haulm collapse. If treatment is too late, there is a danger that some bottom pods will shatter. Where crops are to be used as animal feed, add an alcohol ethoxylate adjuvant in accordance with the manufacturer s On peas for processing for human consumption, consult your processor before adding any adjuvant or wetter. Rate of use: litres/ha. Water volume: 00500 litres/ha. Use the higher water volume when the crop is dense. Harvest: Harvest can take place as soon as desiccation is complete, which is normally 710 days after application. MISSION 00 SL MAPP 16977

Field beans Treated field beans may be used for pigeon and animal feed only. Apply MISSION 00 SL when the crop is mature, which is when the majority of the crop has turned black. Rate of use: litres/ha. Add an alcohol ethoxylate Water volume: 00500 litres/ha. Harvest: Harvest can take place 7 days after application. White and red clover (for seed) Apply MISSION 00 SL when the crop is mature, days before expected date of combining. Rate of use: litres/ha. Add an alcohol ethoxylate Water volume: 00500 litres/ha. Use the higher water volume when the crop is dense. Harvest: Harvest can take place as soon as desiccation is complete. Linseed Apply MISSION 00 SL when the seed is matured evenly over the whole field, which is when the seed capsules are dark brown and the seed light brown: the seed should rattle in the bolls and ideally the most mature stems should have started to turn yellow just below the capsule cluster. Rate of use: litres/ha. Add an alcohol ethoxylate Water volume: 00500 litres/ha. Harvest: Harvest can take place 100 days after application, when the seed moisture is below 1%. OATS (for animal feed) Spray when crop is mature for combining. Harvesting can take place as soon as desiccation is complete, normally 7 days after application. A delay in harvesting may result in regrowth of grass weeds. Treated grain and straw may be safely fed to livestock from days after spraying. Rate of use: litres/ha. Laid oats Treated laid oats may only be used for animal feed. MISSION 00 SL should be applied when the crop is mature for harvesting. Rate of use: litres/ha. Add an alcohol ethoxylate Water volume: Apply in 00500 litres/ha. Harvest: Harvest can take place as soon as desiccation is complete, which is normally 7 days after application. Treated grain and straw may be safely fed to livestock from four days after spraying. A delay in harvest may cause regrowth of grass weeds. Weed control in row crops MISSION 00 SL can be used to control common chickweed. The product can be used as an overall spray, or as an interrow spray. Add an alcohol ethoxylate adjuvant in accordance with the manufacturer s Overall spraying Sugar beet, bulbs, onions, ornamentals, chicory and vegetable crops can be treated before crop emergence or before transplanting. On sandy or peat soils allow three days between spraying and expected crop emergence or transplanting. Early crop potatoes should be treated up to 10% emergence, main crop potatoes should be treated up to 0% emergence, provided that the plant is no more than 15 cm high. Do not apply after emergence under very hot dry conditions or to crops growing from diseased seed or from very small tubers. Rate of use: litres/ha Water volume: 00500 litres/ha. Use the higher water volume when weeds are dense or when weeds are beyond the seed ling stage. Interrow spraying Application of MISSION 00 SL after the crop has emerged should be made using a spray guard to avoid contact with the crop foliage. MISSION 00 SL may be used at.0 l/ha for the control of common chickweed up to the true leaf stage. MISSION 00 SL MAPP 16977

Rate of use: litres/ha. Water volume: 00500 litres/ha. Use the higher water volume when weeds are dense or when weeds are beyond the seedling stage. Hop stripping and weed control MISSION 00 SL can be used for the killing of hop leaves and basal regrowth of hop shoots. In addition the product controls present broadleaved weeds. Only the lower feet of stems should be treated. Maximum 1 application per crop should be made. Apply MISSION 00 SL in July when hops have reached the top wire. Do not apply in drought conditions. Treatment of hops under stress or when leaves are wet with a heavy dew may cause damage. Rate of use: litres/ha. Water volume: Apply at least 1000 litres/ha. RESISTANCE Diquat (and paraquat) belong to the class of herbicides known as bipyridyls. Strains of Annual Meadowgrass and American Willowherb resistant to paraquat have been found in some hop yards/gardens and also top and soft fruit orchards. Where paraquat resistant strains are present MISSION may not give full control of these weeds. FOLLOWING CROPS Any crop may be sown following the application of MISSION 00 SL. MIXING AND SPRAYING MISSION 00 SL should be applied as a Medium Quality Spray (as defined by the BCPC). Check and clean all hoses, nozzles and equipment to be used prior to use. Fill the sprayer tank for 90% with clean water. Begin agitation and add the required quantity of MISSION 00 SL to the sprayer tank. Fill the spray tank with water as required whilst agitating. Continue agitating during spraying. On emptying the container, RINSE CONTAINER THOROUGHLY by using an integrated pressure rinsing device or manually rinsing three times. Add washings to sprayer at time of filling and dispose of container safely. Do not leave spray liquid in the sprayer for long periods (e.g. during meals or overnight). 5 At the end of spraying wash sprayer tank, pump and hoses with water and liquid detergent and empty completely. COMPATIBILITY For the following applications, MISSION 00 SL can be used in tank mix with an alcohol ethoxylate adjuvant, in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions: desiccation of oilseed rape, laid oats, field beans, white and red clover, linseed and for weed control in row crops. Consult your processor before using an adjuvant on peas for processing for human consumption. DO NOT USE an adjuvant for desiccation of potato haulm.
