Waldeck were appointed to redevelop this town-centre Brownfield site. Due to the site conditions it was imperative that Waldeck found a suitable solution to the foundation issues relating to the build. Waldeck considered the use of deep trench footings verses piling and decided on the use of small mini piles which proved to be an economical route, rather than the traditional bored piled solution that had been recommended by others. The superstructure arrangement and specification were flexible in terms of loading; with the use of longer clear spans for upper floors which eliminated the need for internal walls to be load bearing meaning they can be moved or omitted all together. Waldeck also liaised between the church and two national retailers regarding the Party Walls, and were able to satisfy all concerns at an early stage. causing no disruption to the build.
