W elcome to the BinPak Team! Modern Waste Products has engineered the BinPak compactor with safety, productivity and efficiency as vital components. This manual contains all of the information for you to understand the operation of the equipment from electrical hook-up to unloading the compactor container. As a result, the manual should be read carefully before using your equipment. If you have arranged for a Modern Waste Products representative or agent to be present during commissioning and training, it is still important to be thoroughly familiar with this manual for a complete understanding of the equipment and its operation. To request service or to order parts refer to the decal information on the BinPak. 1 www.binpak.ca

1.3 Safety Decals DANGER - Moving Parts Can Crush and Cut. Operate Carefully. NEVER ENTER THE FILL CHAMBER OR PLACE ANY PART OF YOUR BODY WITHIN THE FILL CHAMBER PRIOR TO DISCONNECTING THE COMPACTOR AND PERFORMING PROPER LOCK-OUT/TAGOUT PROCEDURES. WARNING - Electrical Hazard. Disconnect Power Before Lifting This Bin. THE COMPACTOR USES AN ELECTRICAL CONNECTION. THIS MUST BE DISCONNECTED BEFORE UNLOADING THE COMPACTOR IN ORDER TO AVOID PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGE TO THE COMPACTOR. CAUTION - Be Careful. Stay clear identifies the need to prevent unsafe practices, which may result in minor personal injury or property damage. HEAVY COMPONENTS LIKE COMPACTORS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY AND EQUIPMENT DAMAGE IF HANDLED IMPROPERLY. 5 www.binpak.ca

2.0 Compactor Operation 2.1 BinPak Operating Procedure 1. Open the fill door and load refuse into the chamber opening (RED fault light turns on). 2. Close the fill door firmly so that the door latches (RED fault light turns off). 3. Press the GREEN start button firmly (located above the fill door). 4. The BinPak compactor will activate and run through the compaction cycle compressing the refuse within the container. 5. The GREEN light is illuminated while operating. 6. The door cannot be opened while the compactor is activated. 7. Once compaction cycle is complete, the machine will stop running. The green light will turn off. 8. The door latch can be released and the fill door opened; ready for the next cycle. 2.2 EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON To stop operation of the compactor at any time, press the RED emergency stop (E-Stop) button located directly below the start button. The GREEN start button light will turn off, indicating that main power has been shut off. Start Button with GREEN light Emergency Stop Button RED Fault Light 6 www.binpak.ca

2.3 EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON Reset Procedure If the RED E-Stop is depressed, the system must be reset. To reset the system, pull the E-Stop button out fully and then press the GREEN start button once. The compactor is then ready to start. Wait at least 2 seconds and then press the GREEN button again to start the cycle. Depending on where the compaction plate was when the E-Stop was depressed, the GREEN start button may have to be pressed once again after waiting another 2 seconds. This will then activate the machine. When the machine stops, the door can be opened. 3.0 Emptying the BinPak Compaction Container The following operations are to be performed by the truck driver. 3.1 REAR or FRONT FILL BinPak 1. 5.0 Basic Maintenance Manual 5.1 Washing & Cleaning The BinPak may be washed with a mild soap and water using a cold water pressure washer with a pressure not greater than 1500 psi. When using the pressure washer, take care not to remove any decals. The buttons and lights on the front may be washed with a pressure washer if the pressure is not greater than 1500 psi. Ensure that the electrical connector cord end nut is tightened to the receptacle prior to washing. 5.2 Door Hinges and Latches All door hinges and latches yearly lubrication (minimum). 5.3 Hydraulic System The BinPak compactor has been designed to avoid the necessity of regular maintenance. The manufacturer recommends that once per year there should be a visual inspection of all hoses and hydraulic components. At this time it is recommended that the hydraulic oil level be checked and oil added if necessary. All inspections must be done with compactor disabled and by a Modern Waste Products approved third party inspector. Only a qualified technician (authorized by MWP) should service any components in the hydraulic system. 5.4 Electrical System Only a qualified technician (authorized by MWP) should inspect and service any components in the electrical system. 11 www.binpak.ca
