E-service mail Code/RefNr.: 530204A Date: March 2008 Subject: Error 6 On Ironers WARNING: Carry out the handling according to the following manufacturers instructions. Always respect warnings from the relevant manuals of the machine. Make sure all electric power or other energy sources are disconnected and closed before any servicing. Always turn of the main switch. Wait 10 minutes after electrical power is disconnected to eliminate power on the inverter terminals. Installation, maintenance and service must be executed by skilled service personnel only or by a service organisation with appropriate authorization from the manufacturer. For service, use only original replacement parts. Re-install all machine parts in the original way. The qualified agency performing this work assumes all responsibility for this kit installation. Other service activities than described below, disable all manufacturers responsibility. Make sure children are not around during work in progress. Error 6 on ironers means a problem with the drive. If this error appears and the drive is not running, either the frequency inverter or the control board is defect. In case the drive works normally and error 6 appears, both the inverter and the control board are OK and the problem is caused by increased contact resistance of a relay inside the inverter. The inverter permanently reports its correct function to the control board by means of 12VDC signal connected to input 1 of the board. In case of a failure this signal is interrupted by the inverter and the control board stops the heating and displays error 6. Originally a relay contact inside the inverter was used for this function. This contact proved to be unreliable when working with low voltage 12VDC. Therefore we modified the wiring so that a transistor output of the inverter is used instead of the relay, which works flawlessly with this voltage. This modification is being implemented in production now, so this instruction is not relevant for machines made since February 2008. Please follow these steps to fix the problem on machines made till February 2008: Disconnect wires from terminals K12 and K14 (relay contacts) on the frequency inverter and connect them to terminals 59 and A1 (transistor output). Wire with potential +12VDC must be connected to terminal 59 (if you are not sure which one it is, you can find it easily either by measuring the voltage between these 2 wires or by measuring resistance between the wire and microswitch SQ3 on the crank, which must be 0 Ohm). See the electrical drawing below. Note: if you connect the wires vice-versa, error 6 will appear as the transistor output will not work with reversed voltage. Set parameter C0117 in the frequency inverter to value 3 for OPL execution (use parameter copy unit 505485); keep the default setting (0) for coin execution. Note: you can obtain the complete parameter list on request, drawing number 501976. Page 3 of 5

Alternative solution: In case the parameter copy unit is not available, the solution mentioned above cannot be used. In such case it may be much easier to buy an additional relay (KA1) locally and install it according the drawing below. Part numbers mentioned on the drawing refer to a relay used in other Primus machines; anyway any other suitable relay may be used. Specification of the relay: - coil voltage 230VAC - contact rating 12VDC We recommend connecting more contacts of the relay in parallel to ensure maximum reliability. Page 5 of 5
