Service Notes The W-STMS-A/A is a multiuse control panel The panel can be wired to a conventional single stage or stage heating/cooling system or to a heat pump system Therefore verify that the installation is wired for the intended application To check out the installation, first check that the Heating/ooling system is operational Do this by using a jumper wire on the control panel "system" terminal block onventional Jump from "" to "" - Heat/ool ompressor and fan System should turn on "" to "" - ompressor and fan should turn on (due to STMS internal circuitry) Heat Pump System "" to "" - Heat should turn on With st stage running, see that the nd stage is working by shorting "" to "" on cooling cycle and by shorting "" to "" on heating cycle Determine if reversing valve is to be energized in the cooling or heating mode Jump from "" to "" - ompressor and fan should turn on in heating or cooling mode depening on system "" to "" - same as above "" to "" [ or ] - ompressor and fan should turn on in the opposite mode to step Assuming the heating/cooling equipment checks out fine, shut off the power at the furnace or heat pump If it does not check out - correct the problems before proceeding with testing of the zoning system When testing the zone control system, the power at the furnace should be off, to prevent compressor short cycling and other controls being cycled needlessly Zone ontrol System Power heck that there is VA on terminals and from the transformer heck that there is VA on terminals M and M for each zone damper If voltage measured is less than volt, check "Polyfuse" for overheating If Polyfuse is hot, it is usually caused by a shorted cable, a miswired damper motor or thermostat To find the problem, start with damper wiring Disconnect one cable at a time, remove power from panel and wait 0 seconds estore power and recheck voltage at terminals M and M If voltage is restored, that is the cable with the short or miswire To be sure that there is not more than one shorted cable, reconnect removed cables one at a time, monitoring the V power to make sure there are no more shorts heck each zone thermostat terminal block "" to "" to make sure that there is power to each thermostat Make sure that the proper thermostat is wired to each zone "n Heat Pump Systems" the Zone thermostat MUST be a "Heat Pump Thermostat", Zones and and all expansion zones require conventional thermostats [ see diagrams # to #8 ] 0 W ontrols Inc 8 Highway nglishtown, NJ 0776 800-6-0 FA 7-6-866 -Mail- info@ewccontrolscom

Service Notes If panel will not go into "ool" mode, make sure Zone thermostat is in "ool" mode and that there is VA present between "" and "" terminals on Zone thermostat terminal block If the thermostat is in the "ool" mode and there is no VA between terminals "" and "" on the panel, check out the wiring, subbase and thermostat to determine where the problem is If panel will not work in "Heat" mode, make sure Zone thermostat is in "Heat" mode, and that there is N voltage between terminals "" and "" and "" and "" If voltage [VA] is present, check wiring, subbase and thermostat If voltage is present on terminal "" the panel is in the "cooling mode" Voltage on terminal "" puts the panel into "mergency Heat" mode and will not permit the compressor to run in the Heating or ooling mode After review of service notes, the problem cannot be resolved, then call the Technical Support hot-line (-800-6-08) Damper peration efore starting to check dampers for proper operating sequence, put all "pen-losed" switches on panel in "pen" position Determine how many and what model of damper is connected to each zone Verify that they are wired per the correct schematic for the number and model of damper used [ see schematics # to # ] Start test with all zone thermostats satisfied - all dampers should be open Make Zone thermostat call - Zone damper should stay open, all others should close epeat this test with all other zones - have that zone thermostat call with all others satisfied - that damper remains open, all others should close The control panel damper terminal block outputs are as follows M = V common M = V constant = V signal to open = V signal to close Damper Models n Models SMD, MD and IMD dampers, also wall registers, ceiling diffusers and floor registers using Model MAN motor actuators - make sure that there is a "Jumper" from terminal "" to "" Power on terminal and drives the damper open and power on terminals and 6 drives it closed Model ND same as above but no "Jumper" is needed Model DN and SMDLD - apply power [V] between terminals and damper should drive closed and stop With power (V) applied to terminals and plus, damper should drive open and stop W ontrols Inc 8 Highway nglishtown, NJ 0776 800-6-0 FA 7-6-866 -Mail- info@ewccontrolscom
