Shadows on the wall... The new Shadow range is engineered to achieve an astonishing unity of wafer-thin design and life-like sound, complete with the natural dynamism and wideband response you d expect from larger, more obtrusive speakers. This elusive blend of high performance and lifestyle appeal is the work of innovative flat-profile driver designs, developed using new materials and thousands of hours of Computer Aided Design and performance simulation. The four Shadow speakers are conceived to work in pairs for music, or combined in supremely low profile multi-channel systems, ready to unleash the full audio impact of today s Blu-ray and other HD audio sources. There s the diminutive Shadow 25, supplied with a shelf stand option; two main speakers: the Shadow 50 and the Shadow 60 (for 50 + displays), and the Shadow Centre speaker: a dedicated centre-channel design supplied with a shelf/rack mounting option.
What makes a Shadow? Added bass definition The larger Shadow designs feature passive 4 Auxiliary Bass Radiators (ABR): flat sheets of aluminium powered by reflex loading within the cabinet and tuned to provide the mid-bass impact that punctuates fast action, and adds subtle bass weight in quieter scenes. The thinnest high-performance drivers The four Shadow models are equipped with a new flat-profile 4 mid/bass driver and a redesigned version of our world famous C-CAM 1 tweeter. The 4 driver uses a reinforced flat RDT radiating surface, comprising an ultra-light but ultra-rigid sandwich of C-CAM material bonded to a Rohacell core. The cabinet The impossibly slender matt-black cabinet is constructed from a single piece of aluminium, precision machined to provide rigidity and naturally low resonance. Each Shadow speaker is easy to install on solid or stud wall using two direct-to-wall flush fixings. The speakers feature invisible cable entry and connection as well as removable magnetic grilles and end trims, which conceal fixings and terminals. Designed to reproduce the massive dynamic swings of film soundtracks and high resolution music files, this extremely rigid driver cone is held in a high power Neodymium magnetic field by an ingenious concertina-style suspension, providing an exceptionally responsive, uniformly controlled and extended excursion. Each driver is bolted to the back of its cabinet but floats within an airtight neoprene seal at the front, which de-couples the driver from the baffle. The result is greater audio accuracy over a wider bandwidth from a driver compact enough to operate within a cabinet depth of just 40mm (1.5 )
The Shadow Range Shadow60 The S60 uses a similar driver complement to the S50 but in a taller cabinet, ideal for displays above 50. Its dual D Appolito driver arrangement, high power handling and good sensitivity generate a high Sound Pressure Level with low distortion, but the S60s additional cabinet volume and customtuned ABRs also provide superior low frequency performance. Shadow50 The S50 is designed to coordinate with video displays of up to 50. It features dual 4 RDT drivers and a 25mm C-CAM tweeter in a D Appolito array, augmented on either side by dual ABRs. Shadow25 The ultra-compact S25 is designed for front or rear channel duties in a compact home theatre system. It features a single 4 RDT (Rigid Diaphragm Technology) bass/ mid-range driver and 25mm C-CAM dome tweeter in a sealed enclosure. The S25 is supplied with its own metal desk-top stand as an alternative to wall mounting. Shadowcentre The Shadow centre is designed as a dedicated centre-channel speaker. Having the same drive unit configuration as the S50 and S60, it s the perfect match for these speakers in a high performance home theatre system. The Shadow centre is also supplied with feet for use with an AV rack.
