ON ISLN SIGN GUILINS esign Guidelines Neighborhood The eacon Island neighborhood shall be pedestrian friendly with well lit and designed walking and bicycle links to all elements of the completed neighborhood. xtensive visual and pedestrian water access for all residents on the Island is a primary requirement. Style and haracter Structures shall be based on Southern oastal vernacular with a focus on waterfront style and function. This style is characterized by vertical proportions, deep roof overhangs and spare use of ornament in simple forms that have ample shade and ventilation. Typical qualities are: Simple, straightforward volumes. Multi-stories with full façade and wrap around porches with simple square columns. Vertically proportioned windows and doors evenly spaced and coordinated with the porch bays. xterior Finishes: Masonry (30% min.) brick, stone or stucco. Siding cementous lap siding. Tile and metal roofing over simple roof forms with generous roof pitch and overhangs. Towers, cupolas, dormers and widows walks are allowed and encouraged. Windows. Provide ground floor windows along street facades, parks, plazas or other public outdoor spaces.
