DANSEREAU HEALTH PRO DUCTS, INC. AM ERIC A S DENT AL EQU I PMENT COMPAN Y TABLE OF CONTENTS Dansereau Health Products dental operatories Dansereau Health Products dental air compressor Dansereau Health Products dental vacuum pump Dental X-ray Specifications/Requirement/Electrical Dental X-ray in-wall backing Dental X-ray Pass-thru cabinet Water Solenoid and Filtration System GENERAL INFORMATION There are three types of dental delivery systems used in a Standard General Practitioner s dental office. 1) The over the patient delivery system (Chair mounted light and dental unit). 2) The rear service delivery system: this can be in the form of a cart or mounted to a cabinet in the rear of the operatory or at the head of the patient. 3) The side delivery system: This can also be in the form of a cabinet or cart that is installed to the side of the dental chair. The plumbing for each of these systems varies by the specifications of the equipment to be installed and the location of the plumbing required to operate the dental equipment. Be aware that some of the requirements are subtle, carefully, review the list of equipment to be installed and, verify with equipment supplier the proper schematics are being used in the construction of the dental office. If you are not sure of the specific requirements needed to properly install the dental equipment contact Dansereau Health Products, Inc. immediately. The most common recurring problem - is the contractor not contacting the dental equipment supplier and verifying the dental equipment to be installed is the same as the schematics that have been supplied to the contractor. (MAKE SURE IF A DENTAL DELIVERY SYSTEM HAS A CUSPIDOR THAT A 2" DRAIN HAS BEEN INSTALLED BY THE CONTRACTOR).

DENTAL OPERATORIES - NO CUSPIDORS Critical Note: Uniform Plumbing Code Requires all Dental Delivery Systems using Public Water supply must have an external Vacuum Breaker. Verify this with your local Building and Safety Department. If you are using Self Contained Water Systems you will NOT be required to Install an external Vacuum Breaker. America Operatory Universal Operatory Clinic Operatory

DENTAL OPERATORIES - WITH CUSPIDORS Critical Note: Uniform Plumbing Code Requires all Dental Delivery Systems using Public Water supply must have an external Vacuum Breaker. Verify this with your local Building and Safety Department. You will require Public Water to properly operate your Cuspidor System. America Operatory Cuspidor Added to Chair Mounted Delivery System Requires Drain Reduced to 1 Clinic Operatory

12 O CLOCK OPERATORY PACKAG ES Critical Note: Uniform Plumbing Code Requires all Dental Delivery Systems using Public Water supply must have an external Vacuum Breaker. Verify this with your local Building and Safety Department. Realize that Rear or 12 O clock Operatories require additional length for appropriate performance.

AIR COMPRESSOR Location The DHP Dental Air Compressor should be installed in a well ventilated area. The DHP Dental Air Compressor is air cooled and without proper air circulation its lifespan could be shortened significantly. The sound level of the Dental Air Compressor when in operation, should be considered when locating an area within the dental office for the Dental Air Compressor. It is strongly recommended that insulation should be added to the walls adjacent to the Dental Air Compressor. The ambient temperature in the dental office equipment room should never exceed 40 degrees Fahrenheit minimum and 100 degrees Fahrenheit maximum. The dental office equipment room will require a minimum of 5 air changes per hour which can be met with a 50 CFM vent fan in a 5' x 5' x 9' room. The DHP Dental Air Compressor can be located outside of the dental office; however, it is extremely important the air compressor be covered from the elements, as well as, have the proper ventilation as previously mentioned. It is strongly recommended that visual inspections of the air compressor be done on a weekly basis. Electrical Requirements LINE VOLTAGE - Single phase 120v/60hz or 240/60hz electricity is required for proper operation of the DHP Dental Air Compressor. All electrical sources to the DHP Dental Air Compressors MUST BE PROPERLY GROUNDED! CRITICAL: All DHP Dental Air Compressors require a dedicated electrical source. Refer to the Compressor Specifications to confirm amperage. Plumbing Requirements AIR LINE - A 1/2" copper male pipe thread fitting in the utility closet end of the air line to the operatories is required to attach the Dental Air Compressor supply line. NOTE: The DHP Dental Air Compressor regenerating desiccant drying system will expel a minimal amount of moisture and it is recommended that the 1/4" poly - tubing be situated in either a floor sink, drain or small bucket that can be emptied as needed. Fresh Air Intake Many Local Building Departments are requiring Fresh Air Intake Dedicated Vent Lines for dental air compressors. It is a 2 Vent Pipe through the roof or side of a building in which the dental air compressor would receive the outside air to compressor intake filters. The Roof Top Pipe would require a vent cap to protect rain, snow, or dust from entering Fresh Air Intake line.

SUPER FLOW DRY VACUU M Location The DHP Vacuum Pump should be installed in a well ventilated area. The DHP Vacuum Pump is air cooled and without proper air circulation the lifespan of the vacuum pump could be shortened significantly. The sound level of the vacuum pump, when in operation, should be considered when locating an area within the dental office for the vacuum pump. It is strongly recommended that insulation should be added to the walls adjacent to the vacuum pump. The ambient temperature in the dental office equipment room should never exceed 40 degrees Fahrenheit minimum and 100 degrees Fahrenheit maximum. A Climate Controlled Utility Room is strongly recommended. Electrical Requirements LINE VOLTAGE - Single phase 240v/60hz - 20A electricity is required for proper operation of the DHP Vacuum Pump. All electrical sources to the DHP Vacuum Pump MUST BE PROPERLY GROUNDED! LOW VOLTAGE - The DHP Super Flow 10 Dry Vacuum Pump has an ON/OFF low voltage capability. A 18/3 low voltage rated wire can be run from one central location to allow the DHP Vacuum Pump to be turned on and off. NOTE: DHP Super Flow 10 Dry Vacuum System a minimum 230V Single Phase Electrical Supply, 208V you will need a Buck Boost Transformer to increase the voltage to 230V. Plumbing Requirements WATER LINE - A 1/2" cold water source is required for proper Rinsing of the Vacuum Storage Tank. A 1/2" Ball Valve is required at the end of the water source. Cold water is not a required for operation of the Dry Vacuum System, but the Rinse Cycle of Storage Tank will eliminate maintenance of the Dry Vacuum System. WASTE LINE - The industry standard for exhausting the Dry Vacuum System waste is to exhaust the waste into a floor sink or a 'P' trap. Local Building Codes require a 1" air gap for waste disposal. Vacuum Line Refer to the Vacuum Line Sizing Chart to Vacuum Line Sizing. It is strongly recommended that you contact your local building department and inquire if schedule 40 PVC is acceptable to use in the vacuum line system fabrication. Dansereau Strongly Recommends PVC as the Vacuum Line. Vent Line The Super Flow 10 Dry Vacuum Turbine requires an exhaust vent. The Turbine Motor runs at a warm level and a 2 Metal Pipe for the first 6 feet from the Turbine Motor is required. After the 6 feet of metal pipe (Galvanized or Black Pipe, not copper) you may use Schedule 80 PVC. The Turbine Motor Exhaust Pipe must penetrate the roof or side of the building. No debris shall go into the vent!!! UNDER NO CONDITIONS SHOULD CONTINUOUS RUN SINKS OR DENTAL CUSPIDORS BE INSTALLED ON A VACUUM LINE

WET VACUUM SYSTEMS OVERHEAD PLUMBING Overhead plumbing for dental vacuum lines are not recommended. Our experience in the long term there can be issues with quality of vacuum. However, if it is required based upon existing conditions in a dental office, economic considerations or construction limitations you will need to be exact in following the rules listed below. Incorrect installation of overhead vacuum piping will ensure low quality or non existent vacuum pressure. Plumbing Rules for Overhead Piping: Keep the vertical lift height as short as possible. The vertical pipe must tee into the top of the horizontal line. Run the vertical line in 1/2 pipe. Run the horizontal overhead line in 1-1/2 or preferably 2 size pipe. For more than 5 Operatories consult with Dansereau. Nitrous oxide scavengers must run in a separate vertical pipe and tee into the top of the horizontal line in a separate location from the wet vertical pipe. Pump Sizing Rules for Overhead Piping: Dry Vacuum System is only recommended Vacuum System. Consult with Dansereau on Overhead Piping Line Size. Operator Rules for Overhead Piping: Operators must use Non Foaming Vacuum Line Cleansers ( Recommended Bio-Pure) Operators must flush lines and then allow air from open vacuum line to run in order to ensure complete liquid non foaming vacuum line cleaning solution has run through the system. Vertical Pipes Must Tee Into Top of Horizontal Overhead Pipe General Principles for Vacuum Lines Slope a minimum of 1/4 in 10 feet with the low end towards the tank. If an in-line low spot is unavoidable, place it in a known location and incorporate a Clean Out. Confirm All Local Building Codes prior to beginning plumbing.

VACUUM LINE SPECIFIC ATIONS Vacuum Line: Schematics Dansereau Health Products, Inc. strongly recommends Schedule 40PVC for use as the Vacuum Line. However, be aware some Building Codes require a metal type vacuum line and require Copper as the Vacuum Line. Copper will eventually deteriorate over years of service, Schedule 40 PVC will not. NOTE: IF YOUR VACUUM LINE INSTALLATION IS OUTSIDE THE SCOPE LISTED BELOW CONTACT DANSEREAU FOR SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS. LOW VOLTAGE - The Vacuum Pump requires a 18/3 low voltage wire to central location for On/Off Switching (Panel to be Supplied by Equip. Co). Plumbing Requirements WATER LINE - A 1/2" cold water source is required for proper operation of the DHP Vacuum Pump. A 1/2" shut off valve is required at end of the water source. WASTE LINE - Vacuum pump waste will exhaust the waste into an Air/Water Separator with the waste ending in a floor sink or a ' P ' trap. Local Building Codes will require a 1" air gap from the exhaust of the Air/Water Separator into the waste receptical. Vacuum Line Refer to the Vacuum Line Sizing Chart. Dansereau Strongly recommends PVC Vacuum Lines. Current Building Codes may not allow schedule 40 PVC and may require copper as substitute. Contact your local building department regarding schedule 40 PVC, if it is acceptable for use in the vacuum line system. Vent Line Air Water Separators are required by many Building Codes. You will need to have a 2 Vent Line installed from the Separator thru the roof. X RAY MACHINES LOCATION Dental X - ray Machines can be mounted either in a Pass Thru Cabinet or a Standard Wall Mounted Installation. A Pass Thru Cabinet will allow the X - ray Machine to Swing between 2 Dental Operatories. A Pass Thru X - ray Machine typically requires a longer X - ray Arm or the dental chairs have a swivel mechanism. A Standard Wall Installation is designated for a single operatory use. Usually you will have a standard length X - ray Arm, in some instances, a shorter X - ray Arm can be used. The Control Box for operating the X - ray machines can be installed within the dental operatory or x- ray pass thru cabinet, however, most agree installation of the X - ray Control Box in an area outside, but capable of viewing the patient, is the best installation. This would require the electrician to install wiring prior to the completion of Drywall on new installations. It is recommended that a complete installation guide be available to the contractor and electrician during construction for proper placement of key support items. Electrical Requirements LINE VOLTAGE - Single phase 120v/60hz electricity is required for proper operation of Dental X - ray Machines. All electrical sources to Dental X - ray Machines MUST BE PROPERLY GROUNDED! All Dental X - ray Machines require a minimum 20 Amp Dedicated Circuit. It is Imperative the Lead, Neutral and Ground all be isolated to one circuit, as all Dental X - ray Machines manufactured today are Digital and extremely sensitive to outside electrical stimuli. Using a joint neutral or ground could effect the Digital X - ray Sensor performance. DENTAL WAT ER SOLENOI D FILTR AT ION SYSTEM A Water Solenoid Filtration System is strongly recommended for all dental offices. The Water Solenoid Filtrations System is installed on the Incoming Cold Water Line of the Dental Office. The system has two features. The Solenoid Valve is designed to be turned off when the dentist and staff leave at the end of the business day. It will electronically turn off the water to the dental office prohibiting any water leaks that could occur when the staff and dentist are not in the office. Secondly, the Water Filtration System is designed to remove the particulate matter from the water source. This will prolong the lifespan of the micro valves for the dental units. This is not a substitute for a distilled water system, which is used for autoclaves sterilizers and self contained water systems. The information contained in this manual is a collection of typical installation requirements that if properly followed, will ensure your Dansereau equipment will easily and proficiently install. We recommend that State Licensed Contractors complete the items outlined in this manual. All construction and installations are unique and consideration should be given when you are following the diagrams contained in this manual. If you have concerns or are unfamiliar with these diagrams contact Dansereau Health Products, Inc at ( 800 ) 423-5657, prior to beginning the work. Any information given in this manual does not supersede National or Local Building Codes or specifications given by the licensed contractor responsible for the work.
