EQ JoinTech is staging the Zero Defect Movement to eliminate all possible defects. Features of the EQ joint Reduced operation hours Operation is finished as soon as the pipe is inserted into an EQ joint and is pressed by a press tool. Conventional operation using a bolt and a nut takes time in fitting, but the operation can be finished instantaneously with the EQ joint, which greatly saves time and cost associated with piping. No skilled labor necessary In the conventional operation using a bolt and a nut, the operator should be highly proficient in the operation. However, a specialized press tool is used in the EQ joint system, which provides consistent connection strength regardless of a user s proficiency. Fire-free Fire is not used near the piping environment, which makes it suitable for a household piping. Clean facility Cutting oil or compounds are used for bolt-nut type joints which may lead to a possible heavy metal contamination in case of soldering. The EQ joint is free of such contaminations. Lightweight piping Since the EQ joint employs a thin stainless steel, it provides larger water flow than a pipe with the same diameter and is better fitted for the lightweight piping necessary for high-rise buildings. Application standard Regular stainless steel pipes (13SU - 100SU) 2. Application range Water supply pipe laying, water supply pipes, hot water supply pipes, and piping for heating and cooling inside a building, etc. 3. Material and quality STS 304, 316L, KS B 1547, KS D 3595 4. Construction method Pipe cutting Make the cutting section of a pipe perpendicular to the length of the pipe. Burrs must be removed using a burr remover or a file. Marking-off Remove the O-ring of a socket and use the socket as a line marker. The line mark must be visible after the pipe has been inserted to a fitting. Press work Push the pipe until the end of a fitting, check the line mark and then finish the pressing. (Make sure to use a pressing tool recommended by EQ JoinTech for EQ joint parts. Periodically run tests on the pressing tools and prevent poor piping caused by aging of the pressing tools.) Pressing inspection Check the pass or fail of the pressing using a hexagonal gauge. Water pressure inspection The pipe pressure for water supply should be checked according to the specified pressure of the water department. The water pumping pressure must be a twofold of the corresponding pump pressure, and other requirements should satisfy the standard specification. Notes for EQ joint operations 1) Do not damage the O-ring If the pipe is deformed, cut it out and remove the burr completely. 2) Insert the pipe to a line mark. Identify the line mark prior to pressing and completely insert the pipe. 3) Avoid mistakes in pressing. 4) For the piping at the adapter unit, the screw unit should be connected first; the curl unit should be pressed afterwards. 5) When the pipe is laid in a contaminated ground such as a stall, paddy fields, and dry fields, or a waste landfill, the pipe can become rusted by microorganisms, therefore, it should be wrapped with a plastic film or an anticorrosion tape. 6) Leaving the pipe lay underground for a long time without any water flowing may cause chemical reactions from water content or air permeability leading to corrosion. Therefore, let water flow as soon as possible through the laid pipe. 7) The use of materials containing chlorine or sulfide may cause local corrosion; a plastic film or an anticorrosion tape should be wrapped around the pipe to prevent corrosion. 8) Avoid dropping or bumping into a heavy object when carrying a straight pipe. Especially, the pipe fitting should be protected from any deformation. 9) The stainless steel pipe should not be hanged with a steel wire. Especially, large diameter steel wires should be avoided. Plastic wire or cloth band should be used for transfer. 10) Keep the temporarily deposited stainless steel pipe with a plastic cover or a protective cover. 11) The deposit place for the stainless steel pipe should be free from falling objects. Do not touch it with a different type of steel material such as a gas pipe or a reinforcement bar. 12) Parts should be stored in a clean place, and the mouth of the part should be cleaned prior to the insertion of the pipe. 13) Keep the part and the pipe in a straight line during insertion to prevent damages to the O-ring. If the pipe is not inserted smoothly, wet the O-ring inside the part with water before insertion. 14) The two grooves of a jaw should be properly assembled with the grooves of parts and the pipe and the jaw should be perpendicular to each other for pressing. 15) It is recommended to mark the pressed part for indication. 16) Make sure to use a pressing tool recommended by EQ JoinTech for EQ joint parts.
