See Grounding Instructions. Do not leave appliance when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before servicing. To reduce the risk of electric shock, use indoors only. Do not immerse. Use only on surface moistened by cleaning process or small spills. A small spill is considered to be less than one gallon and less than 1/8 inch deep. To reduce the risk of fire: Do not use a flammable or combustible liquid to clean floor. Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children. Use only as described in this manual. Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to a service center for inspection. Call 1-800-488-1222 or visit our website at www.sears.com to locate the nearest service center. Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as handle, close a door on a cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces. Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord. Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands. Do not put any objects into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts. Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes. Do not use without dirty water reservoir and filter assembly in place. Turn off all controls before unplugging. Do not use to pick-up flammable or combustible liquids, such as gasoline, or use in areas where they may be present.

Keep the All Surface Floor Cleaner on the floor. Do not use on stairs. Do not use an extension cord with this All Surface Floor Cleaner. Store the All Surface Floor Cleaner indoors. Put All Surface Floor Cleaner away after use to prevent tripping accidents. Using improper voltage may result in damage to the motor and possible injury to the user. Proper voltage is listed on the cleaner plate. Use only with Kenmore Hard Floor Concentrate Cleaner or Kenmore Carpet & Upholstery Concentrate Cleaner. Always install float before any wet pick-up operation. NOTE: The float is part of the filter assembly inside the dirty water tank. See page 15 for installation instructions. WARNING" The cords, wires, and/or cables supplied with this product contains chemicals, including lead or lead compounds, known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after using. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS Proper assembly and safe use of your all surface floor cleaner are your responsibilities. Your all surface floor cleaner is intended only for Household use. Read this Owner's Manual carefully for important use and safety information. This guide contains safety statements under warning and caution symbols. Please pay special attention to these boxes and follow any instructions given.

It is important to know your All Surface Floor Cleaner's parts and features to assure its proper and safe use. Review these before using your All Surface Floor Cleaner. Please pay special attention to these hazard alert boxes, and follow any instructions given. WARNING statements alert you to such dangers as fire, electric shock, burns and personal injury. CAUTION statements alert you to such dangerous personal injury and/or property damage. WARNING CAUTION Electrical Shock Hazard Do not plug into the electrical supply until the assembly Is complete. Failure to do so could result in electrical shock or injury. Before assembling the All Surface Floor Cleaner, check the PACKING LIST on the cover of the separate REPAIR PARTS LIST. Use this list to verify that you have received all the components of your new Kenmore All Surface Floor Cleaner. Do not overtighten, Overtightening could strip the screw holes. Do not operate the All Surface Floor Cleaner without the screws in place, Secure with 4 screws provided as shown. HANDLE ASSEMBLY Attach upper handle to main body of cleaner. V UPPER HANDLE CORD ASSEMBLY Wrap cord around quick cord release and lower cord clip for storage.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1 Turn the quick reiease upper cord hook to either side and down to release the power cord. 2. Detach the power cord plug from the power cord and pull the cord off the quick release upper cord hook. 3. Plug the polarized power cord into a 120 Volt outlet located near the floor. GROUNDING PIN GROUNDED OUTLET BOX @ 4. To replace cord, turn upper cord hook to the up position, then wrap cord. GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS This appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipmentgrounding conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be inserted into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances. WARNING Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provlded with the appliance-if It will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrlcian. This appliance is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit and has a grounding attachment plug that looks like the plug illustrated in the sketch above. Make sure that the appliance is connected to an outlet having the same configuration as the plug. No adapter should be used with this appliance. Personal Injury and Product Damage Hazard DO NOT plug in if switch is in the ON position. Personal injury or damage could result. DO NOT use outlets above counters. Damage from cord to items in surrounding area could occur. 7

NOTE: Please read hard floor and carpet cleaning operating instructions prior to first use. For most effective cleaning, follow the recommended operating sequence below, IMPORTANT: For best cleaning results use a steady, forward and backward motion. Wet cleaning should be done at half the speed of dry vacuuming. For heavily soiled areas, repeat if necessary. This product can be used to clean hard floor surfaces such as tile, linoleum, stone, vinyl, laminate, and wood floors that have been sealed with a polyurethane with water. coating and can be cleaned To prevent damage to floors, follow the manufacturers cleaning recommendations. Before using, ensure that surface is not worn, bare, or has separated joints. Do not use the cleaner if any of these conditions exist. IMPORTANT: Make sure to use the tangerine hard floor nozzle and Kenmore Floor Cleaner Concentrate or Kenmore Hardwood Floor Concentrate when operating as a hard floor cleaner. See page 10-11 for instructions on changing nozzles. 8

FILL VACUUM Remove Tank-in- Tank" System from cleaner by pushing down on tank latch and tilting out. With dry hands, plug cord into properly grounded electrical outlet. Remove measure cap from the rear of the Clean Water Tank. Pour 4 capfuls of Kenmore Hard Floor Concentrate Cleaner into Clean Water Tank. DO NOT USE PINE, SOLVENT I OR WAX BASED CLEANING SOLUTIONS IN CLEANER. Step on Nozzle Setting pedal If _, necessary to _ switch from WET _,_ SCRUB & VAC to T HARD FLOOR DRY VAC. Turn cleaner on by moving power on/off switch from OFF to ON. Step on Handle Release pedal to put into cleaning position. _ Fill remainder of Clean water up to the MAX _7 / FILL line, Replace measure cap on Clean Water Tank, eter Tank with warm Slide Brush On/Off switch to the OFF position if necessary. F- Replace Tank-in-Tank System by inserting bottom first and tilting forward until tank latch fastens. TM Operate cleaner to dry vacuum the entire hard surface area. 9

WASH AND DRY Step on Nozzle Setting pedal if necessary to switch from HARD FLOOR DRY VAC to WET SCRUB & VAC position. Slide Brush On/Off switch to the ON position. Pull Solution Trigger to start the flow of cleaning solution. NOTE; Cleaner will continuously dispense solution until Solution Trigger is released. IMPORTANT: With solution On/Off trigger held down, slowly push unit forward. Release solution On/Off trigger and pull unit backward in the same area cleaned to remove dirty water and solution from hard floor. Overlap strokes by one inch to prevent streaking. (For heavily soiled areas, repeat if necessary). If the unit stops picking up dirty ater and/or the motor changes to a hi, dirty water tank is full be emptied. See page 13. RNING Pull nozzle forward to remove completely from Nozzle Lock. NOZZLE LOCK TAB 10

Turn Nozzle Lock Tab clockwise to lock nozzle onto cleaner. insert new nozzle by pushing securely into Nozzle Lock. NOTE: Make sure nozzle is inserted all the way in the Nozzle Lock, otherwise Nozzle Lock will not secure properly. Failure to install nozzle correctly can impact cleaning performance. NOZZLE LOCK TAB L_ IMPORTANT: For best cleaning results use a steady, forward and backward motion. Wet cleaning should be done at half the speed of dry vacuuming. For heavily soiled areas, repeat if necessary. BEFORE CLEANING: Vacuum carpet thoroughly with a regular vacuum cleaner. Remove as much furniture from the room as possible. If unable to remove the furniture, place plastic or foil under and around the legs until the carpet has dried completely. Check for color fastness. Dampen a white cloth with solution. Test a small area in an inconspicuous place. Gently rub the cloth over the area. Check each color for bleeding. If the cloth remains clean, it should be safe to shampoo the carpet. IMPORTANT: Make sure to use the green carpet nozzle and Kenmore Carpet & Upholstery Concentrate Cleaner when operating as a carpet shampooer. See page 10 for instructions on changing nozzles. CAUTION: Do not use the cleaner to dry vacuum carpets; this could damage appliance. FILL F- Remove Tank-in- Tank" System from cleaner by pushing down on tank latch and tilting out. Remove measure cap from the rear of the Clean Water Tank. Pour 2capfuls of Kenmore Carpet & Upholstery Concentrate Cleaner into Clean Water Tank. 11

\ Fill remainder of Clean Water Tank with warm water up to the MAX FILL line. Replace measure cap on Clean Water Tank. Slide Brush On/Off switch to the ON position. _ Replace Tank-in-Tank" System by inserting forward ottom first untiland tanktilting latch fastens. Pull Solution Trigger to start the flow of cleaning solution. NOTE: Cleaner will continuously dispense solution until Solution Trigger is released. WASH AND DRY With dry hands, plug cord Into properly grounded electrical outlet. Step on Nozzle Setting pedal if necessary to switch from HARD FLOOR DRY VAO to WET SCRUB & VAC. Turn cleaner on by moving power on/off switch from OFF to ON. With Solution On/Off trigger held down, slowly push unit forward. Release Solution On/Off trigger and pull unit backward in same area to remove dirty water and solution from carpet. (For heavily soiled areas, repeat if necessary). To aid in the drying On/Off switch to OFF position and continue process, slide Brush operating in WET SCRUB & VAC mode, IMPORTANT: If the unit stops picking up dirty water and/or the motor changes to a high pitch, the dirty water tank is full and must be emptied. See page 13. Step on Handle Release pedal to put into cleaning position. 12

BRUSHROLL BUTTON RESET IMPORTANT: Your cleaner contains a reset button to protect the permanent belt should the brushroll clog. If this occurs, unplug the unit, remove debris from brushroll, and push reset button prior to resuming operation. THERMAL PROTECTOR IMPORTANT: Your cleaner contains a thermal protective device to shut off the motor to avoid overheating. If this happens, turn the unit off and unplug the cleaner. Inspect the nozzle inlet for blockage. Empty the Dirty Water Tank and clean filter. After approximately 30 minutes, the motor will have cooled and the vacuum will be ready to use. NOTE: The cleaner must remain unplugged during the 30 minute cooling period. AFTER CLEANING: Allow carpet to dry completely. Try not to walk on the carpet until it is dry. If you need to walk on the carpet, place white towels on the areas you want to walk. If the carpet is not dry and furniture must be placed back in the room, use plastic or foil under the furniture to prevent staining the carpet. Thoroughly clean the dirty water tank with warm tap water. WARNING To reduce the risk of Injury from moving parts unplug before servicing Tank-in-Tank" System: The cleaner is designed with a unique Tank-in-Tank" system. The Clean Water Tank (outer tank) contains the cleaning solution and clean water mixture while the Dirty Water Tank (inner tank) collects wet and dry debris. TAB Remove Tank-in-Tank '= System by pushing down on tank latch and tilting out from cleaner. Grasp tab on filter/float assembly and pull up to remove from tank. Empty contents of Dirty Water Tank. EMPTY TANK-IN-TANK TM SYSTEM disconnect from electrical outlet. Turn cleaner off and _ Clean and Dirty Water Tanks before storing. See Storing Cleaner on Page 15 for Rinse and dry the additional storage instructions. 13

REPLACE SYSTEM \ TANK-IN-TANK" Replace Tank-in-Tank TM System by inserting bottom first and tilting forward until tank latch fastens. ALL SURFACE FLOOR CLEANER CARE WARNING To reduce the risk of Injury from moving parts unplug before servicing. NOTE: For best results, clean filter after each use and replace annually. TO CLEAN FILTER Grasp tab on filter/float assembly and pull up to remove from tank. Remove filter from filter/float assembly by grasping angled top of filter and turning counterclockwise. Lift filter up and out of filter assembly. _ unplug from electrical outlet. Turn unit off and Remove Return filter/float assembly to Dirty Water Tank. To ensure proper fit, make sure the arrow on the filter/float assembly lines up with the Align Filter Front arrow on Tankin-Tank". Tank-in- Tank" System by pushing down on tank latch and tilting out from cleaner. b. _,l Remove any loose debris from filter by tapping the filter against a garbage can.
