The Lightning flash with arrowhead symbol, within an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated dangerous voltage within the product s enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of fire or electric shock to persons. The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operating and maintenance instructions in the literature accompanying the appliance.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS When using electrical appliances especially when children are present, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following: 1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS. 2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use any handles or knobs. 3. To protect against fire, electrical shock, and injury to persons do not place cord, plug or appliance in water or other liquids. 4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. 5. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning the appliance. 6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to an authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment. 7. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or injury to persons. 8. Do not use outdoors. 9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces. 10. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven. 11. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot food, water or other hot liquids. 12. Do not use appliance for other than intended use. 13. The ceramic mug must never be used on a range top. Do not set a hot mug on a wet or cold surface. Do not use a cracked mug or a mug having a weakened handle. 14. To disconnect turn switch to Off, then remove plug from outlet. 15. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycle. 16. FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS PRODUCT MAY VARY SLIGHTLY FROM ILLUSTRATIONS This appliance is for HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY. It may be plugged into an AC electrical outlet (ordinary household current). Do not use any other electrical outlet. POLARIZED PLUG This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way; if the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature. SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS A short power supply cord or detachable power supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from entanglement or tripping over a longer cord. Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If a longer detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used: 1. The marked electrical rating of the cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. 2. The longer cord should be arranged so that it does not drape over the counter top or table where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.

LINE CORD SAFETY TIPS 1. Never pull or yank on cord or the appliance. 2. To insert plug, grasp it firmly and guide it into outlet. 3. To disconnect appliance, grasp plug and remove it from outlet. 4. Before each use, inspect the line cord for cuts and/or abrasion marks. If any are found, this indicates that the appliance should be serviced and the line cord replaced. 5. Never wrap the cord tightly around the appliance, as this could place undue stress on the cord where it enters the appliance and cause it to fray and break. DO NOT OPERATE APPLIANCE IF THE LINE CORD SHOWS ANY DAMAGE, OR IF APPLIANCE WORKS INTERMITTENTLY OR STOPS WORKING ENTIRELY. HOW TO USE BEFORE USING Wash the ceramic mug in warm, soapy water, rinse well and dry thoroughly, then wipe unit with a soft cloth or sponge. Never immerse unit or cord in water or other liquid, and do not allow water to get into the unit. The filter basket and permanent filter, as well as the ceramic mug are dishwasher safe. It is recommended to place them in the top rack only. Fill mug with cool water and pour into the water reservoir. The ceramic mug supplied with this coffee maker is inteded for brewing a 12 ounce cup of coffee. Place mug on drip tray, plug unit into electrical outlet and switch ON by pressing the ON/OFF button. Run one cycle with water only to flush the system and remove any packaging dust. Note: The amount of brewed coffee will measure slightly less than the original water due to absorption of water by the coffee grounds. BREWING COFFEE With power switch in the OFF position push the button on the water reservoir lid. The lid will be released to the open position. Using the ceramic mug, or a measuring cup, fill with the appropriate amount of cold water. There are water level markings on the inside of the water reservoir for 8, 10, 12, or 14 ounce cups. If using the mug provided with this machine, DO NOT exceed 12 fluid ounces. If using your own mug, DO NOT exceed 14 ounces. Pour the water into water reservoir. Place the permanent filter into the filter basket, and add coffee grounds. Follow the recommended coffee to water ratio of the coffee manufacturer. Gently shake filter to spread coffee evenly. Ensure that the water shower head is positioned over the permanent filter. Close lid. Lid should click into locked position. Place ceramic mug on drip tray, plug in, and press the power switch to the ON position. Allow the coffee to finish dripping from the unit before removing the ceramic mug. Press power switch to the OFF position when brew cycle is complete. CAUTION: Be careful when opening the water reservoir lid after brewing as this area is hot and steam may be present.

USER MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS This appliance requires little maintenance. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not open or remove the bottom cover of unit. It contains no user serviceable parts. Do not try to repair it yourself. Refer it to qualified personnel if servicing is needed. TO CLEAN: At least once a month, fill the ceramic mug half way with white vinegar and then top with cold water and pour into the water reservoir. Place the ceramic mug on the drip tray. Turn the power switch to the ON position to start the brew cycle. Allow all of the solution to drip into the ceramic mug. Repeat the process using a new solution; do not re-use the first solution. Allow the unit to cool for 10 min; then rinse unit by running another cycle with cool water only. You may have to run another rinse cycle to remove any remaining vinegar taste. Turn unit OFF and discard water. Wash and dry ceramic mug, permanent filter and filter basket. When unit has cooled, wipe with a dry cloth. The ceramic mug, permanent filter, filter basket and drip tray may be washed in warm, soapy water or on the top rack of dishwasher. Never use abrasive scouring pads or cleanser. Never immerse unit in water or any other liquid. TO STORE: Unplug unit; store in its box in a clean, dry place. Never store it while it is hot or still plugged in. Never wrap cord tightly around the appliance. Do not put any stress on the cord where it enters the unit, as it could cause the cord to fray and break.
