6 Eden Highline The Eden Highline is the perfect greenhouse where is an important consideration. The extra high eaves gives you a lot of extra growing space. 7 Features Kickplate Extra high 5 2,5 Tomato Tips Growing Tomatoes What gives a tomato its taste is the amount of salt, acid and sugar it contains. This depends on how much sunlight it receives whilst it is ripening. This is why a tomato plucked fresh from your greenhouse will always taste much better than those bought in a supermarket which were plucked when still green and allowed to ripen afterwards. Plant your tomatoes in May when the soil temperature has reached 16 C. Do not start adding fertiliser until the first flowers have appeared. Make sure you water them regularly as each tomato plant can drink up to 5 litres of water a day when it is hot.
8 Eden Sherborne The Sherborne is in a class of its own. The extra strong profiles used in the construction of the gables and ridge bar make the Sherborne series one of the strongest greenhouses money can buy and gives it a very exclusive looking appearance. Cresting is available as an option on all green and grey models of this greenhouse. This has the dual advantage of giving your greenhouse a more traditional Victorian look and feel as well as keeping the birds away from your greenhouse roof. 10 Pleiades Nowadays garden design is not only functional but also a delight to the eye. With 7.5 m 2 of space, there is plenty of room in which to grow plants as well as add a table and some chairs where you can sit and enjoy the early spring sunshine. The Pleiades offers a choice between 3 mm horticultural glass, or 3 mm toughened. The roof is always glazed with 6mm strong polycarbonate sheets. If you wish to use the Pleiades as a small summer house, we strongly recommend that you choose the 3 mm full length toughened safety glass. The Pleiades is made to a high standard using a newly developed frame made of extra strong aluminium pieces. It is available in mill, green or anthracite grey. 12 Eden Monarch The Eden Monarch is a large greenhouse that allows you the flexibility to grow a variety of different plants. It also has enough space for a small table and chairs from where you can enjoy your greenhouse in comfort. One big advantage of the Monarch is that there is no door lip which makes it ideal for wheelchair and wheelbarrow access. The wide double-hinged door is also very high and can be opened from both sides. It can also be locked. The Monarch, in either a mill or a green finish, has an integral base which makes it easy to assemble. It has additional side and roof bracing for added strength. 13 Eden Lean-To If you have limited space in your garden or want to overwinter delicate plants, a lean-to might be the best option for you. The sun not only heats the lean-to but it also heats the wall against which it has been built. The wall will then release its heat into the lean-to overnight thus keeping any heating costs down to a minimum. If possible place the lean-to in front of a window and maximise on the heat lost from the house. The Lean-to has many advantages and should be given serious consideration when choosing your greenhouse. The greenhouse comes with 3 mm horticultural glass. 14 Extend the growing season If you want to start sowing your seeds in early Spring, it is important that you keep your greenhouse frost free. Similarly if you wish to extend the season into Autumn and overwinter any plants, Eden can offer a wide range of heaters, thermometers and insulation products to help with this. Junior Heater This heater is suitable for a sectioned area of a greenhouse or the larger coldframe, making it ideal for the range of cold-frames and grow houses. The Junior Heater will burn for approximately 14 days. It holds 2 litres and is suitable for a greenhouse up to 5 m 2. Requires ventilation due to a possible build up of condensation and soot. Senior Heater Paraffin heater Ideal for use in a small greenhouse of 4 m 2. Quality Build for many years of use. Safety Tested and Approved. The Senior Heater will burn for approximately 7 days. It holds 5 litres and is suitable for a greenhouse up to 10 m 2. Requires ventilation due to a possible build up of condensation and soot. Maxi Heater Ideal for use in a greenhouse of 5 m 2 or as an anti-frost heater in a larger structure. Quality Build for many years of use. The Maxi Heater will burn for 3-4 days. It holds 5 litres and is suitable for a greenhouse up to 15 m 2. Requires ventilation due to a possible build up of condensation and soot. Min/Max Thermometer Check on the current temperature and see how the temperature has fluctuated between hot and cold in the greenhouse. The perfect aid for adjusting the temperature. Mercury free. Make sure you have enough ventilation Whilst it is lovely when it is sunny, it can get very hot inside your greenhouse. It is therefore very important to provide enough ventilation and shade for your plants, otherwise they will suffer. Eden provides a range of solutions to meet these needs. Extra Windows You cannot have too many windows in the roof to allow the hot, moist air to escape. Louvre Window As the warm air escapes, fresh air will take its place. To ensure this happens effectively, install a louvre window low down in your greenhouse where it will not damage delicate plants. Shading Screen Quick and easy to use. Covers all or part of your greenhouse. Attach to the inside of the frame using clips.
15 Keep it tidy and maximise on the space in your greenhouse No matter what size of greenhouse you have, the important thing is to make the most of it. You want a greenhouse that can match your requirements exactly and this is where the Eden accessory range can help. By introducing shelving and staging into your greenhouse you will be surprised at just how many plants even the smallest greenhouse can accommodate. Plant Rings With Eden plant rings you can fit plant ties or wires anywhere in your greenhouse. First attach the ring to the frame of your greenhouse, then simply attach a string from the plant rings to the plant tie to get the requisite support. Plant Spiral Ideal for growing tomatoes, cucumbers and other tall growing plants requiring support. Adjust the plant spiral to the correct length up to a maximum of 2 metres and attach using the fixings supplied. Downpipes Collect rainwater for your plants. Eden downpipes come complete with fittings. Wire Shelves Can be attached to any part of the greenhouse frame. Comes complete with brackets and screws. Sizes: 150 x 25 cm 150 x 50 cm Green Staging Staging is indispensable in any greenhouse, particularly when sowing your seeds in early Spring. Aluminium Staging The shelves within the staging are reversible so that you can fill them with sand and protect your plants from becomming waterlogged. Eden Vanlet An automatic drip irrigation system to feed and water your plants at regular intervals. The Vanlet consists of a tank in which water and fertiliser are mixed and then distributed to the plants via a system of hoses, y-connections and drip pins. Each drip pin can be individually adjusted so that it delivers exactly the right amount of water for each individual plant. The Vanlet can be adjusted to distribute between 10 and 150 litres of water over a 24 hour period. Always build on a good foundation Before erecting your greenhouse it is important that you have a strong and stable base that is securely fixed into the ground. Typical bases include: Wooden base + Easy assembly - Will not last as long as your greenhouse Concrete base + Strong and stable - Expensive, time consuming and difficult to construct Eden metal base + Quick assembly, especially designed to fit each greenhouse perfectly + Fastens securely to the ground + Same life span as the greenhouse + Moderate price NB! Many insurance companies only cover storm damage if the base is assembled correctly and securely anchored into the ground. We recommend using an Eden metal base. The galvanised steel base is cut to the exact size of your greenhouse and measures 12 cm high which gives 12 cm additional headroom. Easy to assemble, it has ground anchors at each corner for securing firmly into the ground.
