Before yo start... Check location where hot water dispenser will be installed. Proper installation is yor responsibility. Make sre yo have everything necessary for correct installation. t is the responsibility of the installer to comply with installation specifications provided and with state and local plmbing codes. Facet monting: reqires a 1 -l/l 6 to l-3/8 diameter opening in sink or contertop for monting hot water dispenser facet. Facet can be installed in place of sink sprayer. For other installations, contact a qalified installer for best procedre to drill a hole throgh yor type of sink or contertop. Thickness of sink or contertop hole mst not exceed 3/4. Electrical Shock Hazard Special care mst be taken when drilling holes into walls or water pipes. Electrical wires may be concealed behind the wall covering or water may remain in pipes. Some installations may reqire a filter (sch as charcoal) for increased satisfaction. Dimensions shown mst be sed. Proper cold water spply connection mst be available. (See Water spply reqirements, Panel B.) Use saddle tapping valve spplied. Saddle tapping valve is designed for se with 3/8 to l- 3/8 oter dimension (O.D.), soft copper tbing (plain or chrome plated) or rigid metal pipe. Do Not se the saddle valve with flexible ribbed tbing. (See Water spply reqirements, Panels B.) Flexible ribbed tbing reqires special connecting hardware available from yor local plmbing spply. Gronded electrical otlet is reqired. (See Electrical reqirements, Panel B.) Otlet shold be located for easy connection to hot water dispenser. The otlet shold be within 30 of hot water dispenser tank. Water spply reqirements mportant: f local codes do Not permit the se of saddle valves, special feed valves can be obtained from yor local plmbing spply distribtor. f local codes permit, the hot water dispenser feed line shold be connected to the cold water spply line sing a saddle tapping valve. The saddle tapping valve spplied is designed for se with 3/8 to l-318 oter dimension (O.D.), soft copper spply tbing (plain or chrome plated) and rigid metal pipe. Do Not se saddle valve with flexible ribbed spply tbing. Flexible ribbed spply tbing has a thin wall thickness and reqires special connection hardware, available from yor local plmbing spply distribtor. NOTE: Connection to hot water line is not recommended. Energy will be wasted in heating the water twice and the magnesim rod sed in hosehold heating may prodce a rotten egg taste. f this nit is replacing a hot water dispenser connected to a hot water spply, the existing connection may be sed. l/4 O.D. copper tbing 2 monting bracket screws (and 2 plastic pencil anchors if attaching to dry wall) Parts spplied for installation: 4 saddle tank bracket For yor personal safety, this appliance mst be gronded. This appliance is eqipped with a power spply cord having a 3-prong gronding plg. To minimize possible shock hazard, the cord mst be plgged into a mating 3-prong grondingtype wall receptacle, gronded in accordance with National Electrical Code, ANSVNFPA 70-latest edition* and all local codes and ordinances. (See Figre 1.) f a mating wall receptacle is not available, it is the personal responsibility and obligation of the cstomer to have a properly gronded 3-prong wall receptacle installed by a qalified electrician. nstallation With hot water dispenser in kitchen. 1 Determine the best facet monting position that will allow facet spot to empty into sink. Check below sink to assre that reinforcing ribs, spport brackets or cabinet constrction will not interfere with facet monting. Knock ot plg from hole in sink or ct a hole in sink or contertop. Use a pencil to mark on the wall where the top of tank needs to be located. Set tank aside. Mark a second line 2-l/4 below the line. Position monting bracket on wall so that bottom of monting bracket is even with the lower line. Use two screws (and plastic anchors if attaching to dry wall) to fasten monting bracket to wall. Electrical Shock Hazard Some water may remain in water spply pipe: l f an electric drill is sed, it mst be properly gronded to prevent severe or lethal shock if water shold enter drill. Use only an electric drill with a 3-wire cord connected to a gronded receptacle. l Check with a qalified electrician if yo are in dobt as to whether yor electric drill is properly gronded. NOTE: Thermostat controls tank heater, not water delivery. Rotate thermostat knob clockwise to raise water temperatre; conterclockwise to lower water temperatre. Use and care information Yor hot water dispenser ses a heating element to warm water in the tank to approximately 190 F when the temperatre control is trned to the highest position. Yo can draw approximately 2 qarts of hot water at a time. As hot water is drawn from the tank, it refills with cold water, which is then heated. t takes approximately 15 mintes for a tank of cold water to heat to the maximm temperatre. f yo have very hard water, it may be necessary to occasionally clean the facet screen to remove sediment bildp. For short periods (2-30 days) of nonse: Set the hot water dispenser thermostat to the OFF position to conserve energy. For long periods of nonse, seasonal storage or protection from freezing: 1. Trn hot water dispenser thermostat to the OFF position. 2. Unplg hot water dispenser power spply cord. 3. Hold down facet lever and rn water ntil water is cold. 4. Trn saddle valve handle clockwise to trn off water spply. 5. Place a 3-qart minimm container nder the drain plg at the bottom of the tank. 6. Remove drain plg with a 9116 wrench and allow all water to drain from tank. 6. Replace plg, bt do Not overtighten. Personal njry Hazard l Check that lever is to the side or behind facet spot before sing hot water dispenser. l Do Not reach into or splash hot water on skin. l Do Not let children operate hot water dispenser. l Do Not leave children or infants nattended near hot water dispenser. l Do Not se hot water from dispenser for bathing children, infants or pets. Water from hot water dispenser can reach temperatres of approximately 190 F. Failre to follow these instrctions may reslt in scalding or brns from hot water. To get hot water from the tank: Psh or pll facet lever. To stop water flow from facet: Release facet lever and let it retrn to the vertical position. Ways yo can se yor hot water dispenser: Yor hot water dispenser water has many ses, inclding: l To prepare instant foods and drinks that reqire 190 F maximm water for preparation (sch as instant coffee, tea, hot chocolate, boillon, sop, instant cereal, instant mashed potatoes, frosting mix, etc.). l To get a fast start on cooking foods that reqire boiling (sch as hard boiled eggs, fresh or frozen vegetables, meat cooking in liqid, dried sop, pasta, rice, hot cereals, packaged dinners with pasta, rice or potatoes). l Loosening jar lids. l Warming baby bottles. l Warming baby food. l Filling hot water bottles. l Peeling tomatoes or peaches. l Dissolving gelatin. l Thawing frozen foods. l Preparing vegetables for canning. To remove the facet screen: 1. Set hot water dispenser thermostat to OFF. 2. Hold lever down and drain hot water from tank. Release lever. 3. Unscrew nozzle from facet spot. 4. Remove screen and flow director from inside nozzle. To clean the screen and flow director: 1. Use a small brsh and vinegar to remove deposits. 2. f deposits have hardened, soak screen and flow director in vinegar for l-2 hors. Then se brsh to clean. To replace facet screen: 1. nsert flow director into nozzle. Then insert screen. 2. Position nozzle on end of facet spot and careflly tighten by hand. NOTE: Nozzle mst be flly tightened for screen and flow director to be properly seated and for nozzle not to leak. 3. Check that facet spot is positioned away from facet lever. Hold lever down and check for leaks at nozzle. f nozzle leaks, remove nozzle and check that screen and flow director are properly positioned. Replace nozzle and check for leaks again. 4. Set hot water dispenser thermostat to HGH. On average, yo will se yor hot water dispenser to heat 7 to 8 cps of water per day. This ses only 19 kilowatt-hors of energy per month. So it is Not necessary to trn off the hot water dispenser each night to conserve energy. However, if the hot water dispenser will not be sed for an extended period of time, follow these instrctions - Problem drain plg Prodct Damage Fill tank with water and trn thermostat to OFF position before plgging hot water dispenser into power spply. Trn saddle valve handle conterclockwise to open water spply line. 2. Hold down facet lever ntil tank is fll (approximately 1 minte). When tank is fll, water will flow from facet spot. Release lever. Check for leaks. 3. Check that hot water dispenser thermostat is set to OFF position. 4. Plg power spply cord into properly gronded otlet. 5. Set thermostat to HGH position. Water in tank will reach maximm temperatre in approximately 15 mintes and dispenser will be ready for se. Soltion The water temperatre is controlled by a thermostat on the tank. The thermostat has infinite settings between OFF and HGH and can be adjsted by rotating the thermostat knob clockwise for a higher temperatre; conter-clockwise for a lower temperatre. When the thermostat knob is trned to the OFF position, the hot water dispenser will not heat the water. When the thermostat knob is trned to the HGH position, the water will heat to approximately 190 F. t is recommended that the thermostat be set to the HGH position for the best performance. However, nder certain conditions, it is possible that yo will see vapor coming ot of the facet or hear a boiling noise when the thermostat is set to HGH. f this occrs, lower the thermostat setting to a position that eliminates the vapor or noise. Water is not hot. Vapor appears or dispenser makes boiling water noises. Hot water drips or sptters from facet. Water does not flow from facet. Leaking saddle vatve. Water has a rotten egg taste. A. Check that the circit breaker is not tripped or the hose fse blown. B. Check that power spply cord is plgged into wall receptacle. C. Check that hot water dispenser thermostat is set to HGH position. D. Cold water in tank is stiil being heated. Wait 15 mintes and check temperatre again. Adjst hot water dispenser thermostat to a lower setting that eliminates the vapor or noise. A. Check that tbing is not bent or kinked. 6. Adjst hot water dispenser thermostat to a lower setting that eliminates the drips/sptters. C. Checkthat nozzle screen is not clogged. See Maintaining yor hot water dispenser, Panel E. D. Check for proper installation of copper tbing from facet to storage tank and from facet to cold water line. See Steps 6-13, Panels C and D. Check that water spply valve is open. Tighten saddte valve clamp screws evenly and firmly, keeping both halves of bracket parallel. Do Not deform tbing. A.
