House of Italian Kitchen Appliances Frequently Asked Questions as well as Anticipated Questions. Cooker Hood Towards Healthy Living Q 1: How does the cooker hood function? Cooker hood works in 2 ways: 1. Recycling It draws in the oily smoke, filtering through numerous layers of filter such as aluminium (designer hood) filter, sponge (traditional hood) filter and charcoal filter. 2. Ducting out by connecting the pipes, oily smoke is directly blown out to the rooftop or back wall. (This is normally not suitable for Singapore marketing as most Singaporeans are flat-dwellers) Q 2: How many types of cooker hoods are there? Basically there are 2 types: 1. Conventional hood with a traditional sponge filter that comes with twin motors. 2. Chimney hood with washable aluminium filter that comes with choices of strong suction power. Q 3: How strong is your cooker hood suction range? 1 Conventional Hood with suction capacity: 480m3/hour. 2 Canopy or Chimney Hood with suction capacity 650m3/h to 1000m3/hour. Q 4: Why can t I feel the suction when I place my hand underneath the hood? It is not the correct way to test the cooker hood suction (please do not test the hood with tissue paper). You can only hear the noise and see how strong the suction is (please request for demo) but you definitely CANNOT feel because air seeps in and flows upwards. The logic is simple: output capacity equals input capacity.

Q 5: Is it necessary to have a cooker hood? Yes, it helps to keep the environment clean and smoke free. It also helps to prevent oily stains on the ceiling. To be honest, oil problems are not easy to solve, the stains definitely need to be cleaned up and washed regularly. The solution to the oily problem is to dine out or eat takeaways. Q 6: How efficient is Rhoyxon hood compared with others? In fact, a hood depends on motor suction, and cannot be judged by percentage. We assume a motor suction capacity with 485m3 =79% ratio and do a simple computation. Cooker hood with a higher suction power will have a better performance... It is understood that the hoods with 650m3, 700m3, 750m3, 1000m3 suction power DEFINITELY give better results. Q 7: Some sales personnel claims their products are tested by certain Japanese authorities for product efficiency? Bear in mind, there is a big different between Japanese and local cooking. Our hood is less bulky in design, and without a piece of rectifier panel blocking underneath (oily smoke can only flow in from the gaps at both ends and front part near the switches). Local cooking tends to be more smoky and oily than Japanese cooking. Especially for Chinese stir-fry, a lot of oily smoke will be emitted, so within that few seconds the hood must be able to absorb the smoke immediately, but some hoods are not able to do so. Q 8: Do your hoods come with the cassette to collect oil? No, all Italian / European designed hoods do not come with an oil cassette, unlike those from Taiwan, China, etc The disadvantages of the oil collecting designs are: 1. Hood has to be tilted in order for the oil to flow downwards. 2. There is an accumulated layer of sticky oil over time, making cleaning difficult. 3. After some time, the holes leading to the container will also be choked.

Q 9: In a demo, I saw oil in the cassette being easily removed and poured away. What you saw is NOT the real cooked oil but fresh cooking oil. It is understood that cooking oil once heated up becomes very sticky and viscous. (To prove, use your finger to rub against the table surface after cooking and you will be able to feel the difference immediately-oil does not flow as freely as you think it is.) Q 10: How often must I clean the aluminium filter? For best results, we recommend once in 2 ~ 3 weeks. To clean it, simply remove the aluminium filter, soak in HOT water mixed with liquid detergent, use an old toothbrush and brush it gently, then rinse and dry it. Q 11: How often must I change the charcoal filter? Charcoal filter is not washable; it helps to absorb the cooking smell. Normally we recommend changing it once in 9 ~ 12 months; it is available in all our showrooms. If you do not cook often, it will last slightly longer, up to period of 12 months or more. Q 12: How often must I change the sponge filter? Sponge filter is washable. However, instead of washing, it is more economical to change. The filter is available in all our showrooms. Normally we recommend changing it once in 2 ~ 3 months. Q 13: Do you offer any sales package consisting of the hob and the hood? If you buy our hood and hob, there will be a discounted price for the hob. On top of that, a S/Steel wall panel will be given Free of Charge (while stocks last). Q 14: Is installation of the hood included? No. For a new kitchen, hood normally installed by the carpenter/ contractor. However, an installation guide will be given. You could also download from our website www.rhoyxon.com/install A safety height of 70 cm is recommended between the hob and hood.

For replacement of hood, installation charges will be levied pending types of hood replaced. Q 15: In future, can I get a replacement of a hood of the same dimensions? In the market, almost all European hoods are of length / width 60 cm or 90 cm. You can be assured that the measurements are standard. It is to the customers advantage to get European designed hoods for easy replacement in the future. Q 16: I have noticed that that there are some similar models in the market with higher suction power than your brand s. Some similar models are actually produced by the same factory under O.E.M brand. If you ask them for the original factory catalogue to counter check, you will find their information printed to be false. It is understood that the difference between the similar models cannot be too great, that is, unless you want to be cheated. Enjoy reading the above facts and useful information. Do Not Be Misled by irresponsible sales personnel. Say good-bye to sales talks. Be a Smart and Understanding Buyer. s o m e t h i n g m o r e.

And that s why we believe you ll find something of yourself in them too. P r o d u c t f a m i l i e s The Rhoyxon cooker hood range is separated into families defined by type of product and installation method - making it easy for you to choose the hood that suits you best. Island A ceiling-mounted hood in the center of the room that expels fumes through a telescopic chimney. Suction Capacity: 700 m3/h Model: ISO-6

Modern A wall mounted hood that expels fumes through a telescopic chimney. A combination of look, technological, innovation and efficiency. Suction Capacity: 610 m3/h Model: FP-90 Suction Capacity: 650 m3/h Model: CH-90 Firenze Suction Capacity: 700 m3/h Model: JCH-95P Model: CH-909 Model: CH-908

Suction Capacity: 1000 m3/h Model: CH-90 Roma (Silent Motor) Free Standing A hood that can be fitted either on the wall or beneath the kitchen cupboard. Suction Capacity: 480m3/h Model: FS-9302P Model: FS-9402 Country Style Concealed hood fitted to the lower part of the kitchen cupboard. Suction Capacity: 700m3/h Model: CP-78

Suction Capacity: 480m3/h Model: CA-372 Integrated Hood designed with a pull out front panel that conceals it when not in use. Suction Capacity: 400m3/h Model: SLA-90 Black How to choose the hood that s best for you: The aspiration power that you need from your hood depends on the size of your kitchen. You can work out the level of performance you require with a simple calculation, multiplying the volume of the room by 10. For example, a kitchen measuring 3m x 4m with a height of 2.7m : ( 3 x 4 x 2.7 ) x 10 = 324. This means that a product with a performance superior to 324 m3/h will guarantee the correct ventilation of your kitchen.

The efficient aspiration of cook-top fumes also depends on correct use of the product: the hood should be switched on at its lowest speed when cooking starts, then the speed should be increased as fumes and odours grow in quantity. When cooking is finished, the speed should be turned back down to the lowest level for another 5 10 minutes.

A choice of lighting systems: The lighting system is an important functional feature of the hood, and provides additional aesthetic enhancement for your kitchen. There are many possibilities to choose from: incandescent, neon, low-consumption, elegant small halogen lights, etc. It s just a matter of selecting the one that suits your requirements best. Choosing the right version: Exhaust Filter All models can function in two possible ways: Exhaust - where fumes are expelled to the outside.

Filter - where fumes are treated by a grease filter and an odour filter and then returned to the original environment. The choice of version depends exclusively on your personal requirements. The exhaust version has to be connected to the outside by means of a pipe that should not be too long or have too many curves. The pipe should have a diameter of 120 mm or more. The filter version does not require a pipe, but correct maintenance of the odour filters is important and they should be replaced when necessary. Air filtration: All hoods contain a grease filter placed at the air-intake point to protect the interior of the product by filtering out the heavier grease particles. The grease filter may be made of synthetic material, which must be periodically replaced, or washable aluminium, or it may take the form of an aluminium or stainless steel grill which is easy to remove and wash it can even be washed in the dishwasher. The filter odour, present only in filter versions, cleans the air before sending it back into the environment. The traditional odour filter must be replaced every 9 ~ 12 months. Charcoal Filter J024-2JET015 For Model: FS-9302, SLA-90, CA-272 J024-2JET018 For Model: CH-901 ~ 6, PT-90, PA-90, FP-90, CP-78 J024-JET025 For Model: CH-908, CH-909, CH-90Roma J024-2JET015 J024-2JET018 J024-JET025

Safety: During the production process, more than 50 rigorous safety and function tests are carried out on the hoods. Materials, electrical parts and electronic components are repeatedly tested in order guarantee total PACKormity to the strictest safety standards. Safety is built in to the design of the hoods from the very first moment they are conceived. Every product comes with smooth edges, tempered glass and self-extinguishing plastic.
